paratrooper plummets to his death after chute gets caught on plane, Video captures last moments

I wonder if one of those 0G dives could have saved him. I know as a pilot you have to be specially trained and all, but I just wonder if he could have been saved that way, provided necessary restraints for all crew of course. Would have been one hell of a remarkable story had he survived.
You need to be at extremely high altitude, and normal planes can't do it. Only high altitude planes can do it.
Yeah for the record you can pull a 0G arc with any plane ever, but that doesn't mean any plane can pull one for extended periods of time. It'd be so not feasible unless everyone involved was some kind of superhero, including the pilot and the person communicating to the pilot. There's also the whole wind situation.
I'm fairly certain those 0G rides you can buy are a combination of semi-freefall, due to the miniscule air pressure at such altitudes, and a controlled 0G parabola (the latter being the only method available for our theoretical superhero pilot).
Keep in mind that it appears the chuter loses his leg about halfway through the video
He probably wasn't fully conscious from the intense pain at the end of that.

reason I said you need to be high altitude is cause you're going face first into the ground for a good 30 seconds.
This is why I'd never want to be a paratrooper, or jump from a plane in general.

What? No...he didn't?
Unless there's something key I'm missing here, it would not be THAT violent unless the pilot pulled some serious maneuver. It's important to remember that, despite the speeds involved, everything is only moving so fast relative to each other.
relative to the surrounding air, the plane is moving pretty dang fast
How come they were releasing their parachutes so early? I thought it was common practice to count several seconds before opening the parachute.
Their chutes are pulled as they leave the aircraft automatically by being attached to the static line... I think
Do we know if they even have reserves on? They looked to be way too low to even be able to use a reserve. I guess they did since they made the decision to cut him loose
I know this is super fucked up, but this reminded me of using the grapple hook from Just Cause 2 and tethering people to planes.

Which is why he's dangling at a 45 degree angle and not straight down, and which is also why the situation is so chaotic, but people are acting like there are some kind of insane G forces pushing straight down on him because speed or something.
While I haven't personally dropped Personnel yet, I know from training that a Towed Parachutist is a shitty situation all around. There's basically two things that you can do: Cut or retrieve. In this sort of situation, Cut is the best option, since he seems to be conscious. Had they attempted to retrieve him, they'd probably be bringing in a bloody meat puppet from him getting smashed against the side of the plane. So you cut him loose, and just hope he can open his reserve, which sadly, doesn't seem like he was able to. RIP good sir
Umm, guys?

Which one of ya'll is this... It's kinda creepy.

As someone else mentioned, this guy was doing a static line jump. They're all connected to a cable that pulls their chute automatically when they jump out. It's supposed to open the canopy much quicker due to the forces involved.

No he doesn't, He crosses them towards the end. Between that and the hands on his head, it seems to me like that might have been their indicator that he was ready to be cut loose.
That's so sad :(
Couldn't even imagine what might have been going through his mind during that.
