US Marines do it again - This time they pose with SS flag
The flag isn't slanted enough, and it's blue.
Therefore, it is not the exact same thing the nazis used.
The end
yep

no resemblance what so ever at all
OMG NAZIS DESTROYING OUR AMERICA!!! KILL THESE HOOLIGANS PRONTO amen.
The slanted font is fucking cool, and since they're Scout Snipers, they should continue to use the flag. They aren't promoting shit you bitchers.
They aren't promoting anything, it's that those symbols are still offensive to a great many people.
I mean I agree with the next guy that it's stupid that they didn't recognize it, but there was no bad intention. Honestly do you really think that U.S. soldiers would want to associate themselves with one of our countries worst enemies from the past?

I understand where you're coming from.
But my Great Grandparents were Cherokee, and the United States literally forced them out of their homes and would prefer their race eradicated.
Does that mean I get to freak out every time I see the American flag? No. I prefer to let the wounds heal, and dwelling on it makes me bitter.

Honestly you would be surprised at how stupid people can be.
So they use a cool slanted font for themselves the "Scout Snipers" a widely available font at that, and just because the SS used it they get bitchy about it?
Never change america.
"So they use a swastika symbol because it looks cool, stick it in a white circle on a red flag, and pose in front of it and just because it looks like some nazi flag or whatever people are bitching about it?"
It's less about how the soldiers think of it, and more about how civilians who see them with their flag will think of them. If you're just some guy and see the soldiers waving a flag with SS on it, do you think you're going to notice the slightly different font?
It's no fun that people are offended at nazi symbols, but you can't exactly blame them. Following the logic, trying to justify this is going to say telling 9/11 or Oslo jokes is perfectly fine and to tell anyone who is offended to shut the fuck up.

As said before, the Swastika comes from both Buddhist and Native American cultures.

And anyone who sees a guy with a swastika tattoo on the forehead is supposed to think "Oh, what a wonderfully dressed Buddhist/Native American"

yes, I know
But that doesn't mean that posing with a swastika flag wouldn't make you look like a nazi to most people, and in a situation like this what you look like to most people matters.

I'm not saying that, I'm just saying that swastikas aren't always the symbols of ultimate evil, but due to Mister Hitler, they have become bastardized insignia that are feared.
Would I want a guy walking around with a swastika tattooed to his face? No, I would not.
Would I freak out if someone had an old Headdress/Buddha with a swastika on it? No, I would not.
It's all about who sees what I guess.
wrong way around.
actually in the second picture there's one facing each way

I replied to the same post on the first page debunking your argument yet you post it again only to have it shot down with the same reply from a different user, nice.

Here, then have Hindu swastika

Yes but those came before the Nazi's so people tend to accept them, whereas if a modern building was coated in swastikas people are bound to be a bit annoyed.

Still different to the nazi swastika.
It's like saying the white supremacist cross is fine because it looks like a celtic cross.
Yes but those came before the Nazi's so people tend to accept them, whereas if a modern building was coated in swastikas people are bound to be a bit annoyed.
The local Baha'i temple has swastikas on its pedestals, and was finished in the late 50s.

yes but we're not talking about gentle old ladies here, are we? we're talking about young men with sniper rifles, who are supposed to be representing their country, which probably does not want its military associated with the biggest villains in recent history.
The local Baha'i temple has swastikas on its pedestals, and was finished in the late 50s.
You must have the most pointlessly pedantic argument in the world.
Still different to the nazi swastika.

I'm not saying it's fine. I never said it's fine, and I never will say it's fine.
I'm saying that the swastika is a symbol that has it's roots in multiple cultures that span hundreds of years and hundreds of countries, that was used wrongly by the Nazi regime.
That's what I've been trying to say. Sorry for ruffling anyone's feathers, I'm terrible at wording things, and I apologize.
all the jews in Afghanistan must of been pissed
The local Baha'i temple has swastikas on its pedestals, and was finished in the late 50s.
Yeah but that's their symbol of peace, which is actually stylized differently to the Nazi swastika, the SS symbol on the other hand has for the most part been associated with the SS and the fact that a military organization used it is bound to raise a few eyebrows as to the moral compass of the people in it.

What a load of pointless shit to waste typing.
Well done genius. You recognise basic aesthetics.
Next you'll be arguing that Nazi's were actually roman or something stupid.
Here, then have Hindu swastika
Every civilization that once existed on the planet virtually used at least once a swastika symbol.
And out of all the iterations of that same symbol, if you pick the one that was used less than a century ago by a bunch of racist maniacs who lead a massive war and murdered thousands of people, and who still have to this very day people almost worshiping them as gods, you are either an ignorant, a moron or someone who's trying way to hard to get some attention.

your whole swastika argument is pointless anyways, it was only brought up as an analogy
It's obvious that this flag was not designed to been as Scout Snipers or the SS
rather, it stands for "Starting Shitstorms", which is what they do best
I don't blame them, the stylized "SS" is damn sexy.
If there's one reason to hate the Nazis, is that they used cool symbols to do horrific acts of evil.
Yeah but that's their symbol of peace, which is actually stylized differently to the Nazi swastika, the SS symbol on the other hand has for the most part been associated with the SS and the fact that a military organization used it is bound to raise a few eyebrows as to the moral compass of the people in it.
Well maybe they chose SS because (as stated before) is a Corp. acronym for Scout Sniper, like EOD for Explosive Ordnance Disposal.
Obviously, they chose SS to show that off, and got a tad ignorant and slapped SS on their flag not realizing how much shit they'd stir.
