Find out who is responsible and charge them with treason. This is defense money. If releasing information about unlawful spying is treason, then taking money from the national defense budget surely must be too, right? Or is this one of those things that everyone goes "That sucks" and then we never hear about it again?
No one stole the money. Its their computer systems that are so old that they just suck ass and lose things. Not to mention that they dont talk to each other which then requires human input to correct the problems. 167 workarounds to problems are being used.
Isn't it just as racist to assume that he would be referencing an oriental stereotype that all Asians are smart? Because by that logic you assume that anytime anyone references Asians and their high aptitude it's perpetuating the stereotype even more. How about this, let's not pretend to get offended for other races mmkay?
"Other races" You don't know me

However; even with that money getting lost in translation there is still accountability for it; something of which in this situation is very shady because of the use of plug numbers. Anyone who knows about their Finance Department's system well enough could very well capitalize on this vulnerability and chalk it up to their GMBA/General Ledger hardware and software being kooky. We have similar issues here; however, when we have the puzzle of money hitting certain accounts funny even though our bank reconciliations are correct we will still pour through mountains of data and information to find and correct funds.
The President released a statement today, shrugging his shoulders and saying "whoops lol"
Didn't know he was in charge of the Pentagon's books.
You specified Asia. You were clearly playing off an Asian racial stereotype.
I specified literally one of two continents largely applicable to the idea of "school-less kids who want to study". I could have said "Asia and Africa" but in normal company that wouldn't be necessary and you could still claim I am stereotyping both Asians and Africans. Stop trying to stir shit.
that 8 trillion could have funded the space program for decades and we could have been doing moonshots with orion by now i propose a competition! the first goverment agency to solve this problem gets to keep the plug money. [editline]18th November 2013[/editline] congress should get off of nasa's ass for wasting money on stupid things like "research"

I'm pointing out that you used a dumb, racist trope that not only stereotypes Asians as being "studious" or "smart" but also insinuates that Americans are lazy and don't want to study.

Like actually get with it.

Why is the Fed's Finance & Accounting Department using hardware and software that has obvious flaws and vulnerabilities? Hell, the software we use is the horrendously awful Sungard HTE Product AS-400. It literally is the worst thing ever. Luckily we are changing to a whole new system after the first of the year which is leaps and bounds beyond what we currently utilize. No more huge ass perforated green bar paper and the bulky ugly machines they run on. You would think the Pentagon would budget for those kinds of upgrades.
Two F-35s then.
Are you crazy? That's 1,5 tops.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to tell you or not since I signed so many papers when I got that job.

the government repeatedly uses this and its simply another tactic that will go uncontested.

It is depressing how old some of the equipment used is. But then again it fits in with the common phrase, "if it isn't broke, don't fix it."
New motivation to study: if you do poorly in school, you get kicked out of the country.
Surely that should be "if you do well, you get to leave the country" ?
