Who are his parents? They deserve more of the flak than this kid. Name and shame them.
I mean, he'll have to live the rest of his life knowing his dumb actions killed 4 people, no amount of money could make that kind of guilt go away
He'll forget he did it within two months.

(he still should be in prison though)
unless he doesn't give a fuck about it, of course.
man i'd be so mad if i was part of the family who was killed
He'll do it again and get off scot-free. Just you fucking wait.
he's got 10 years probation
try reading the fucking article
The judge actually gave him a harsher sentence than first determined.
He was facing two years, not twenty. (Juvenile exception in California penal code.)
There is no jury in California juvenile proceedings, so there was no real argument that he has "affluenza." (Not recognized by the American Psychiatric Association as a diagnosis.)
His parents are fined $450,000 per year for the next ten years, and he is most likely going to be sued heavily by the four families he devastated.
He'll be paying for the rest of his life, and then there's the three-strike rule in CA.
Starting to wish 'Dexter' was a real person. Send him after this kid.
On the other hand, if that person is Black...
they had said the judge, who is a stellar judge, within the youth court system, with all kinds of awards, a news source had found that she had presided over a case where a black youth had punched a guy, he fell and hit his head, and died. The black youth got 10 years for that.....
So they're letting him off from punishment because he was never taught right from wrong.
Outstanding logic.
That's the legal system for ya.

That's at least something to make sure that he doesn't forget what he did.

Juvenile involuntary manslaughter does not invoke the three-strike law IIRC. Had he done this two years from now, it would. 16 and 17 year olds require one of a certain set of convictions to trigger a strike.
At the school I used to go to a couple of years back, we had a presentation from the mother of a man who killed a family of 5 in a car accident. The man was 19 at the time and was going over the speed limit and crashed into the family. He got 12 years in prison and was released after 8, it was really a confronting story.
If the affluenza defense worked, then im pretty sure the kids parents should be arrested for manslaughter.
So vehicular manslaughter is legal in the US now? I hope someone calls a mistrial, This is a load of bullshit ten year probation is just a slap on the wrist
I blame the parents more than the kid
maybe if his parents are the reason he killed people, you should take him away from his parents
"Didn't know right from wrong," my fucking ass. The kid's 16 years old, there is not a single chance in hell that he didn't know drunk driving is EXTREMELY dangerous. Fucking scum.
