Oh god, imagine how long it takes to get to the top. Or what if there's a fire and the elevators aren't working, and you're at the top? :v:
A big slide?
And make it so that near the bottom, there's a ramp, so while one is approaching terminal velocity, one gets launched into the water/another building/pedestrians etc.
Tall buildings already sway back and forth at the very top. As it gets taller, the amount of sway increases significantly. At 1 mile high, I don't know how you'd keep everyone from getting sick on the very top floors.
probably going to use something similar to Taipei 101's tuned mass damper.
When I went to visit the Burj Khalifa in Dubai there was barely anyone around going in or out of the tower (I actually only saw 3 people go in), which is strange for something that can hold a fuckton of people. It must be mostly empty, and this thing will be too.
i hope it won't be as useless as the burj khalifa
TBH, I think learning how to build a mile high building is worth building it. But then again it's not my building...
Inb4 American terrorists.
How do they still have this much money after everything going on over there?
Yeah with all the oil they have how could they possibly afford this SHIT? Also, if the top is gonna be frozen at night and baking during the day, that's an amazing marketing opportunity for IcyHot.
Oh god, I'd hate to be building that thing.
I bet they have big plans for this like they do with every other structure they build. They push for kinda wacky finish dates. I'm thinking they plan for this to be finished in no more than 4.5 years. This is gonna be sick. Gonna suck at the same time though because of the ENORMOUS shadow it will cast hahaha.
How do you build a building that high? It's not like you can use cranes or something. I mean, how is it even possible to get the metal up there?
I don't know about how they get resources up there, but I know that there's special cranes built for this kind of stuff. You set up the crane on top of the building, you use that to build the current floor, you setup the beams for the next floor for the crane, after that motors power the crane up a floor and then you repeat that. Floor, up, floor, up.
Another amazing but pointless engineering marvel.
Say that when we run out of resources to build the last but not least another amazing engineering marvel.
30 years from now hes the next hosni mubarak. just, won't, leave
Well he is a king. They dont leave unless they choose too, or die.
Say that when we run out of resources to build the last but not least another amazing engineering marvel.
Hopefully it'll be a space elevator so we can plunder the moon.
I read from somewhere that the Citadel is actually about 2.5 kilometers (+underground).
the size of the citadel contradicts itself at different points in the game
I remember making a thread about this plan back in 2007. It's awesome how this concept is going to be turned in to reality.
Make a space elevator instead. At least THAT would be useful.
I remember making a thread about this plan back in 2007. It's awesome how this concept is going to be turned in to reality.
That was some bizarre sand-colored tapered pyramid like thing with a massive base.
Holy crap, tell me thats a photoshop.
I really don't think it is
Oh god, just imagine if there was a mega powerful earthquake there after it was fully built. I mean, I know there's earthquake protection and stuff but what if that fails? :ohdear:

Crush a plane into it
I can't understand why there's so much confusion over how you would go about building something this tall.
