Windows Phone has lost 1 million users in the USA since the start of this year

I've bounced between Android and iOS. My experience with Windows Phone was a piece of garbage HTC Trophy running WP7 and two weeks after I got it I bought an iPhone 4 anyway. Had two android phones after that and now back to an iPhone 6. I may think about WP after WP10, but Verizon has shit for Windows Phones (one is quite literally, garbage:)

I might think about it again once we see something like this. The Lumia Icon was seriously a great feeling handset and Nokia's cameras were underrated as all hell.
I'll be honest, I didn't even think Windows Phone had a million users total.
it seems to be doing okay in Europe actually (also a user). I see Wps pretty regularly. Maybe moreso than iphones.
Windows phone can die already. They just need to focus on cross platform for Microsoft apps. I want more Microsoft apps on android and iPhone that work seamlessly so all my devices work together. IMO windows phone is the worst ever they need to focus on what they do best and that's software.
Hell no. The android UI and core apps are utter pieces of garbage compared to WP. Hell they're garbage compared to ios as well. Honestly a lot of things people took for granted on WP (I'll be honest me inculded) just don't really work too well on android.
At the end of the day, the main issue WP has, is the app situation. But when it comes down to it, they usually have a better core phone experience than android or even ios. Stuff like the core contacts, emails or messages apps are good examples.
I love my Nokia Lumia phone, I hardly use apps (Mainly AFL, Facebook, Youtube and that's about it). Gonna be awesome having Windows 10 on it since it can upgrade to it when it comes out.
You get this warning for every apk downloaded anywhere but from app store. Not to mention there are plenty of shady apps on the app store too.
iPhone and windows would have security issues too, if it gave the user the freedom to download apps anywhere other than the appstore
iphones are better than Android as well , in terms of stability and user interface.
No wonder, their user interface is always the same.
This is a fact, unfortunately.
Android phones slow down badly. Even flagships with insanely powerful hardware crammed into them don't run as well as a years old iPhone or a cheap Windows Phone. The idea of owning a full price phone that will occasionally say 'hey I'm slow, try closing some apps in the task manager' to me is just nuts.
Not to mention, the customization that everyone touts leaves them open to bloatware and malware and general crapware (imagine having to put a virus checker on a phone) and just isn't worth it considering the average user doesn't give a crap about making sure their widgets are the right size or their system clock is the right typeface or whatever people do when they customize their Android phones, and they're the ones who are most at risk of letting their phone get clogged with crap cuz they don't know any better.

It's really easy to overlook how laggy and slow your phone is when you're used to it, but once you use an iPhone or a Windows Phone or whatever for an extended amount of time, you really do start to notice it and it gets kind of difficult to go back. I have found myself cringing when helping family work their new Android phones at how slow they get. I recently helped someone set up a brand new S5, and my word was it slow at doing any UI things.
I know this is going to sound annoying, but I had one and thought it was awesome, but I switched to a Windows Phone largely out of a design boner (the UI was awesome and the hardware was beautiful), and while I lamented the loss of apps and the pretty limited functionality of the built in apps (this has improved a lot now, and with Windows 10 Mobile, the built in apps look solid), I really did notice a big difference.

I kind of thought it was just an accepted fact by now that Android phones are really unstable.
Weird, because I got a not so powerful Xperia M2 and a GP 3.6, and both of them are extremely fast at everything they do. Both are as fast as as my buddy's 5C.
Then again, I give them a good treatment. Never have more than 3 apps open at the same time. Hell, I sometimes close everything even if only 1 app is open.
I generaly don't like Samsung's models since they give loads of problems.
Had a Fresh (which isn't all that good, but still) and it bottlenecked hard. My aunt has the S4 and she can't even install updates anymore, and it malfunctions badly every now and then. Not to mention their UI is a bloated mess, and they got a shitload of apps that are just crammed for no reason at all.
I'm extremely happy with my Xperia though. It's pretty weak by today's standards, or just obviously a mid power smartphone, but goddamn does it works well. The only problem I have with it is that sometimes the keyboard doesn't works for some reason, but restarting the keyboard app fixes it right away, and its a very rare thing to happen anyway.

Not to mention when people seem to quote the whole laggy thing it's often with a former samsung flagship running bloated as hell touchjizz. You don't blame Windows for being laggy when you buy a piece of shit HP with a bunch of bloatware, do you?

Exactly what happened to my Fresh, and my aunt's S4.
It's far from being flagship(the Fresh), but I guess the few apps it has are already too much for the hardware its carrying. The same doesn't happens to the GP, which is pretty much stock, and the Xperia, which has a rather nice hardware.
Meanwhile, iPhone is carrying the same old interface. It seriously put me off when I found out through my buddy's 5C that you couldn't customize the menus, and when you unlocked it, it took you straight to them.
Since I'm talking about my buddy, he went from a Nokia Lumia, think it was the 530, to a 5C, as I've said before.
He did it because the phone got slow and because there was no apps whatsoever. Even the major apps like Facebook and Instagram were serverely nerfed in comparison, or still in beta.
I guess the part about it being slow is because he was using one of the worser Lumias.
Still, its a shame. If WP had as many app choices as Android and iOS, they'd be killer choices. Think most WP phones pack some nice hardware, with easily the best looks out there.

It's not even the apps, it's how badly implemented touchjizz is as well. For my S4 rooting and disabling lots of apps helped, but it still wasn't great. I installed Hyperdrive ROM which is basically a finely tuned and optimized version of touchjizz and it was really smooth. Far smoother than my WP.

So its basically Samsung cutting corners with touchjizz?
Edit: looked it up on youtube, Hyperdrive ROM is sweet.

It's definitely not as good as it could be. Luckily Samsung has a large enough market that people are willing to make it better on the side.
Lumia 435 Owner here and jesus, this phone it's amazing, the best i ever haved. I've switched from Android with no regrets.
It's just quick and really smooth, the only issue it's the app store which is a clusterfuck
Also, can confirm that in Brazil WP it's the second most used mobile OS, behind android and surpassing ios.

I don't deny that at all? I think that's obvious. What I do disagree with is that Android doesn't need a virus scanner.

I saw lag on Sony Z3 too so its not only samsung.

It's definitely not exclusive to Samsung, they're just the most blatant example right now. The old motoblur was god awful. You've got a better chance of a smoother out of box experience on iOS or WP for sure, but I'm more than willing to put in a bit of work to get my phone exactly how I want without sacrificing features. Not everyone is willing to though, so Android isn't the logical choice for everything. I liked WP more than iOS though, that's for sure. It just didn't quite offer me what I wanted.

I have done that for over 4 years with my Android devices and just had enough, and wanted a phone that works smooth 24/7, and WP has done this for me.
iphones are good to but i am not really attracted to Apples Products.
I even tried out Blackberry which is also pretty good imo.

Eh, I kinda had a blackberry device for a little bit, didn't like it. For me Android is #1, followed by WP. I've been customizing the hell out of my Android since my Droid 2 and I will continue to do so, just like I do with all my electronics.

Ive been using Android for 5 years. Never used a virus scanner. Android has a fair share of issues but viruses are literally a nonissue unless you have no idea what your doing.
