right because im sure there weren't people that got hl for just CS or Wanted! (If you remember that one)
or people that got hl2 for gmod
but i dont see anyone bitching about those
Because its completely different. There were big sideeffects that were easily noticable if you played a big amount of ArmA.
1. Cheating
2. Packed server list(that was fixed a while ago)
3. Spamming on the forums
4. People ruining games/playing to grief even more than before.
that doesn't explain why the non-alpha minimum and recommended hardware requirements are 15 and 25 GB
the alpha requirements are 10 and 20 GB so obviously something's missing there
They always add a fair bit extra onto the recommended, I suppose the huge increase in this case is because the game is pretty much meant to be played with mods, so the extra recommended space is a safe amount to store any custom content.
One is for the alpha, the other is for the final retail game. Presumably the alpha will be missing a few things
Don't get why people are rating this disagree, there is obviously confusion here because both the minimum and recommended requirements have an alpha
Minimum
Full game - 15GB free
Alpha - 10GB free
Recommended
Full game - 25GB free
Alpha - 20GB free
As I said above all system specs add extra to the recommended, in this case its likely just because you will probably install a lot of custom content and your game folder will grow in size over time, they are just trying to be safe.
Hope that clears up any confusion.

OH NO A TYPICAL ONLINE GAME COMMUNITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Totally buying it when I can, seems like a great price. Can't wait!
Thinking of getting deluxe but not exactly sure if it includes a future DLC.

Only the supporter edition includes future DLC's.

welcome to bohemia interactive, circa 2001
this game, along with half life, was my childhood
itt people caring about arma because of DayZ
DayZ may have kickstarted a lot of people's interest in the game but I've been playing the games in the series since Arma 1 came out. Plus I played DayZ the week before it became big, good times. The times you could stroll through a city and people used them for trading spots instead of death grounds.
Oh cool, there's going to be a free lite version without multiplayer/mods. Hopefully it doesn't make the textures look like complete ass, like it did for ArmA 2: Free.
It's invite only. You'll need to bum a code off someone else who bought the game or get lucky in a forum/twitter event.
If you give any shits about ArmA it's probably the better idea to just buy it.
For those who might wonder (the OP or the article source wasn't very clear to me, I had to go look it up if you get the full game later on or not):
You can join the Arma 3 Alpha by purchasing the Arma 3 Alpha (€ 24,99), Arma 3 Digital Deluxe Edition (€ 34,99), or Arma 3 Supporter Edition (€ 69,99). All of these give access to the Alpha, the Beta and the final game. The differences between each edition are displayed here.
You'll recieve the Beta, and later the full game if you buy any of the Alpha versions, pretty sweet. Been waiting for this ever since they first announced it, the screenshot in the source looks sexy as hell aswell - the sunlight looks alot more saturated and real and not washed out and grey like in ArmA 2
My only gripe with Arma 3 is it's going to be near-future, and until ACE comes in with the M4's and M16A4's and shit we actually use, I don't think i'll enjoy it that much
Who cares? A lot of people were introduced to Arma through DayZ, and it also massively increased the profits of the series, potentially funding a large portion of Arma 3 development.
I'm not trying to start an argument/flame war, but I hate that so many people who played Arma II before DayZ feel the need to point it out and act superior/complain about people who bought it for DayZ.
I bought the game for DayZ as it was starting to gain traction and after reading the FP thread, and I have also had a lot of fun playing Arma II.
This isn't true according to the preorder page, minimum is DX10:

I FAR surpass the recommended requirements for Arma 2 and is still runs like a piece of shit... I'm taking these with a bucket of salt.
My only gripe with Arma 3 is it's going to be near-future, and until ACE comes in with the M4's and M16A4's and shit we actually use, I don't think i'll enjoy it that much
I don't think they've even announced half the weapons that'll be in it, plus ontop of that they write that the Alpha will only have 12~ weapons, and the full game will have up to 40 - Theres bound to be some sortof M4/M16 in there :v:
Now that's what I call a discount.
My only gripe with Arma 3 is it's going to be near-future, and until ACE comes in with the M4's and M16A4's and shit we actually use, I don't think i'll enjoy it that much
ur a faget

Wasn't that interested in arma 3, but at a 44% pre order discount I might just cave and buy it.
will pre-order asap.
I usually don't pre-order but I trust Bohemia, and like what I saw in the premier.
Fuck SimCity V. Totally getting this instead. Cheaper too. Been playing ArmA 2 around 3 months after release and I still play it to this day, its the one game where I have over 1,000 hours.
Wait, so if I preorder the Support Edition for ~$90, I get a 44% discount?
itt people caring about arma because of DayZ
no?
I own Arma 2 and I've never even played DayZ
My only gripe with Arma 3 is it's going to be near-future, and until ACE comes in with the M4's and M16A4's and shit we actually use, I don't think i'll enjoy it that much
considering they're opening the game to modding as soon as the alpha is out, we should expect to have ACE and VopSound and a bunch of other mods way before the full game is even released
44% is a ridiculous discount.
Also, I want ACE for Arma 3 right now.
I FAR surpass the recommended requirements for Arma 2 and is still runs like a piece of shit... I'm taking these with a bucket of salt.
I don't even meet the minimum requirements on that, seems like I'll have to miss out on Arma 3.
My only gripe with Arma 3 is it's going to be near-future, and until ACE comes in with the M4's and M16A4's and shit we actually use, I don't think i'll enjoy it that much
ArmA 2 had the Lee-Enfield, so M4's are still a good possibility, unless I missed them straight up saying "no M4's"
I'm hoping Arma 3 won't need "improvement" mods like ACE2. I'm not anti-modding, but it would be nice to have a base game that can hold its own.
Am I too optimistic hoping for something like ACRE in pure ArmA 3?
44% is a ridiculous discount.

I hope ARMA 3 doesn't need ACE to be amazing.
Mostly I just hope the gun sounds are better than ARMA 2...
Well in one of the videos they said they're redoing all the sounds and sound system.
So here is hoping.
Well in one of the videos they said they're redoing all the sounds and sound system.

The sounds are okay, the Czech forces expansion for arma 2 had really nice sounds so I assume they got their shit together.
Can't wait for the new lighting system, Arma 2's was ok'ish until it became night and the only way you could see stuff is to have HDR on.
