The lighting is okay, but OFP had better missile lighting, they lit up the entire sky like in real life. MLRS lit up the sky too. It was amazing. Sadly I don't think they had this in mind when making a ArmA3.
i might actually get this once i get my cheque
Fuck SimCity V. Totally getting this instead. Cheaper too. Been playing ArmA 2 around 3 months after release and I still play it to this day, its the one game where I have over 1,000 hours.
I'm getting both :0
I'm getting both :0
I'm getting all.
and one level will have you blowing the shit out of a greek military base
and one level will have you blowing the shit out of a greek military base
Iranian*
itt people caring about arma because of DayZ
But DayZ isn't even available for Arma 3, that made no sense at all.
Fuck it's so tempting to get the supporter's edition
Fuck it's so tempting to get the supporter's edition
I'm going to be, it'll be awesome
Fuck it's so tempting to get the supporter's edition
I want my name in the credits.
Holy shit this bro discount for a brand new full game that isn't even out yet including the FUCKING ALPHA AND BETA ACCESS? They are going to be raking in the money.
Can't wait for the new lighting system, Arma 2's was ok'ish until it became night and the only way you could see stuff is to have HDR on.
It's probably what I'm looking forward to the most after *hopefully* smoother movement. I hate the lights that are so sharp that it would cut you in half coming from the jeeps and stuff in Arma 2.
Bohemia was already planning on using the Minecraft-model (sell early access at reduced price) for DayZ, glad to see them using it for Arma 3 too. I'll definitely buy it for that price.
Well I'll never be able to play this since my computer barely runs Arma 2 on low. I fucking hate my PC.
Welp, more money for Bohemia from me. They have had £100s out of me over the last decade :( Kind of tempted by the supporters edition but I am not too sure that I can spend £60 for features that I already have (I own almost everything ArmA / RV engine related Bohemia have ever released). The digital deluxe edition seems to be a bit more reasonable. So glad they finally did it and made it Steam powered as opposed to just sold on Steam, its an ideal way for them to sell it. They have kind of been fucked over by publishers before and even when they haven't its been hard to get a hold of some ArmA stuff.
My only gripe with Arma 3 is it's going to be near-future, and until ACE comes in with the M4's and M16A4's and shit we actually use, I don't think i'll enjoy it that much
Thanks to the fact the Alpha is mod-able expect ACE and friends to be ready on release day.
itt people caring about arma because of DayZ
Uh no, most of the people in this thread who are posting are people who I have seen post about ArmA way before DayZ came out. [editline]26th February 2013[/editline]
I'm hoping Arma 3 won't need "improvement" mods like ACE2. I'm not anti-modding, but it would be nice to have a base game that can hold its own.
IMO ArmA will never be released with some of the features of ACE. It caters to a niche of a niche market. Of course some of the fixes included in ACE should (and probally are) implemented straight away but I honestly cannot see the features that make playing with ACE so much more enjoyable than without to turn up in ArmA itself. It would alientate people even more.
As said before, I hope Arma 3 doesn't require ACE to be fun/playable on a large scale. And I also hope that aircraft are actually harder to control, rather than "Oh shit A-10 warthog is strafing you, gg".
My only gripe with Arma 3 is it's going to be near-future, and until ACE comes in with the M4's and M16A4's and shit we actually use, I don't think i'll enjoy it that much
Its only 20 years from now most of everything will be normal except for high-end weapons Same in arma 2
considering they're opening the game to modding as soon as the alpha is out, we should expect to have ACE and VopSound and a bunch of other mods way before the full game is even released
Yeah that's what I was thinking, along with everyone else. I hope so, I can't play without ACE anymore, it's spoiled me
My only gripe with Arma 3 is it's going to be near-future, and until ACE comes in with the M4's and M16A4's and shit we actually use, I don't think i'll enjoy it that much
However, there may be a lot of the M8s and the various Iranian weirdo-guns, I honestly doubt we'd see too much ~space age assult riffles~
Its only 20 years from now most of everything will be normal except for high-end weapons Same in arma 2
Not really, If you look at most of the screenshots, it's all this futuristic looking stuff where everything's super triangular angled, even when it doesn't make sense. Hexagon camo patterns and even Comanches. I still don't know why we said No to the Comanche, though, in the real world I just want Ace2 with Ragdolls. That's all I want. And the spiffy new optimization improvements that Arma 3 is supposedly bringing in

The only thing that is in the game that is somewhat extremely futuristic is the railgun tank the Iranians have.
How do we even pre order, I click on Alpha and it just tells me its coming on 5th. Thats on there site, I cant find it on steam at all
How do we even pre order, I click on Alpha and it just tells me its coming on 5th. Thats on there site, I cant find it on steam at all
Because it's not the 5th of march yet maybe? Did that ever strike you?
But do we get TF2 hats???
Pre-order DayZ 2, get Arma 3 and a Tf2 hat free
As much as I don't like pre-order, at that price it seems like a nice deal.
my computer will blow up if I play it :<

Well it wasnt telling me thats when the pre order started, it just said thats when the Alpha came.
Who cares? A lot of people were introduced to Arma through DayZ, and it also massively increased the profits of the series, potentially funding a large portion of Arma 3 development. I'm not trying to start an argument/flame war, but I hate that so many people who played Arma II before DayZ feel the need to point it out and act superior/complain about people who bought it for DayZ. I bought the game for DayZ as it was starting to gain traction and after reading the FP thread, and I have also had a lot of fun playing Arma II. This isn't true according to the preorder page, minimum is DX10:
Huh, apparently I'll be able to play it. Now that's surprising. I may actually buy this now. [editline]26th February 2013[/editline] Although I'm at the barest of minimums in the graphics card department. Do you guys know if this'll be more CPU or GPU intensive?
I FAR surpass the recommended requirements for Arma 2 and is still runs like a piece of shit... I'm taking these with a bucket of salt.
I'm hoping one of the major improvements they do this time around is optimization. It sounded like they were wanting that, so I'm looking forward to the beta just to see how it runs.
