A few years ago they replaced most of the cables in Den Haag with fiber.
I know, but for some reason kpn can't fix me some fiber, eventhough the main line is right out my fucking door. Not even kidding. And my dad won't switch to ziggo...

$80 a month. Fucking hell
"High speed" in the UK is equivalent to 1-5 MBps. It's horrible.
That's because we are behind because of early progression.
We are behind because of early progression. What do you mean by that?
If I ever had the leave the US, Sweden seems to be the best place to go.
We are behind because of early progression. What do you mean by that?
I think he means:
We are behind because we were some of the earliest places to get the internet up and going, and for the time we had a pretty good infrastructure.
Then by the time other countries started setting themselves up properly, fibreoptics was the latest and greatest so they just laid that down fresh, so we might have been the best 10-13 years ago, but we still have the entire country wired with copper and it will be a bitch to redo the entire thing with fibreoptics.

Unless you're on Virgin.
Unless you're on Virgin.
Too bad Virgin rape your speeds for 10 hours if you download more than a few hundred megabytes, its kinda sad that they sell a high speed connection then penalise you for using it.

It seems to be pretty easy to do in Stockholm and Karlskoga. They seem to be digging nonstop and uppgrading.
we're not behind, where'd you get that from?
not to mention that fibre is both easier and cheaper to put down than equivalent quantity of copper cable.
Makes me proud to live in Sweden. Our Internet is awesome. hell yeah.

But if the copper is already there, it will cost a fuckton to get it out and put fiber in there instead, that is why sweden etc are ahead, and the us etc are behind. Sweden never had copper, they only started laying down lines when fiber was out.
stop making things up.

uhm im on virgin and i have no bandwidth caps
I hate that my school has fiber, which is like 500 meters from my house, but I can't get FiberToTheHome.

This.
uhm im on virgin and i have no bandwidth caps
Not bandwidth caps. Virgin throttle your connection if you try any heavy usage. Check your speed before and after a big download. I guarantee it will be a lot slower afterwards.

We had DSL and cable broadband but we still have fiber being laid countrywide now. We're not gonna remove DSL and cable, not till everyone has jumped to fiber.
I've been jealous of Sweden's internet for many years :v:
It still sucks that in anywhere else besides big cities in America, the fastest internet in the Midwest is 6MBps through AT&T, and fiber optics are still several years off from arriving where i live.

In the very least you had much less than the country's that don't have full scale fiber yet.

I am thinking of learning swedish and moving to sweden.
It does have the fastest internet, right?

I pay nothing so I can't really complain unless my router crashes and rapes my upload speed to 5kbps.
Getting Fibre in September, even though it was promised that I would have it by the end of March.
-snip-
Now we can get 1Gbps for 100$ a month :smug:

$20 a month including phone line rental+free call's
