• Remember, Remember, The Fifth of November: Anonymous hackers claim to leak 28,000 PayPal passwords
gee thanks anonymous, I'm glad to have unwillingly emptied my paypal account of all funds in order to help further the security of paypal Seriously, why not release this information solely to the company. If the company doesn't change anything, make a huge fuss about it. Send the information to the NY Times or some reputable news outlet. Instead anonymous are harming me. It doesn't matter what good they do because now I've got an empty paypal account because of them. They are generating negative PR against themselves. Maybe if five seconds of thought was taken, someone would realize how publicly releasing the emails and passwords to 28k paypal accounts might actually be a dumb idea. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] Besides doesn't anonymous have as a message the whole "protect the little guy from big corporations" thing? How does this help the little guy at all?
You forget that any idiot can make himself look like he's speaking on behalf of the entirety of anonymous. In nearly all cases these people are only speaking on behalf of themselves, and possibly a small group of friends. Anything that suggests that anonymous is a group should not be taken seriously. It's a disguise with a culture attached to it.
Hahha the joke is on them, i dont have any money
If they wanted to really make an impact on a lot of people, they'd make the main page redirect to a takedown website and keep it there for 24 hours or something..
What the fuck, why are these guys hurting me instead of the company. Dumb pricks.
The company is obligated to pay you back so actually this only hurts the company.
phew changed my password from 1234 to 12345. i am safe now
I hope that video gets taken down for copyright infringement... for once.
Why can't they go back to busting pedophiles and all those good things?
i think their system of logic is this: release sensitive data->upset customers->upset customers complain to company->company forced to improve security and/or make up for user losses->ultimately better security measures and more ambitious in protecting their customers? I guess they treat as a kind of "reality check" to corporations small sacrifice for a greater good or something
People are literally paid to do this, they're called white-hat hackers even then you've got people who find security flaws and either contact the company and don't release customer information obtained through them to the public or only release information about the existence of the security flaw This is an asshole move on all accounts and more evidence to prove anonymous is a pipe dream, an unorganized bunch of kids and a cover for illegal activity "'cause hacktivism!!1"
Why can't they go back to busting pedophiles and all those good things?
Because "they" aren't a group of people or an organization, this is just a kid who took the name "Anonymous"
Jokes on you, I don't have a paypal.
phew changed my password from 1234 to 12345. i am safe now

Why can't they go back to busting pedophiles and all those good things?
They are more then one group. Literally everyone can do an attack on something then hide behind the Anonymous name.
Well even if it isn't true, i'm gonna change my password just in case.
Same here; better safe than sorry.
oh boy time for one of anonymous' thinly veiled threats that they won't actually do
Never had a PayPal account.
What are their terms? they demand a box of doritos and a case of mountain dew.
You guys do realize this hurts the company, not the customers, right? Paypal is obligated via contract to reimburse the user in case of a hacking.
Do you realise that people might not want to be hacked anyway?
How in the fuck are they "anonymous" if they have a fucking TWITTER ACCOUNT That isn't how anonymous works, stop it
My dad just had an email from anon on his police email account (UK) asking him and other members of the force to join them in protest and some other shit. Apparently they got passwords from their email server aswell and some other stuff. The message was pretty childish really, saying that they would "confiscate weapons used against them and citizen arrest anyone who would try to stop them from peacefully protesting" would like to see how that would work out but yeah, good luck. The UK police are actually fine with peaceful organized protests and as long as they stay that way then nothing would happen anyway. Seems pretty pointless.
People are stupid so these mass civil movements do not work, if I was in charge I'd start trying to cease territory by storming weapons caches of local police forces and possibly military bases. Being an anonymous "hactivist" only makes your cause look retarded.
Is this a joke?
Sort of. "hactivism" isn't doing anything and clearly they need to start actually doing something to achieve their goals.
I'd change my password but I forgot my security questions and
Violent coups almost never turn out well. All they do is breed hatred and further violence, often allowing extremist parties to seize control. While this particular form of Hacktivism isn't the best method of protesting, there is no justification for instantly jumping to its extreme political opposite.
Robbing people of goods or more is extreme from my point of view.
I'm calling bullshit on this. I can't find a single copy of this alleged data. Googling “mc_customers” paypal comes up with only news results.
Anonymous being retards again, whats new?
Is there a way to check if you're on the list?
Yeah that's a great idea! Let's put me on the street to prove a point! This is getting really obnoxious.
You would go on the street from paypal?
Why cant they just pick up litter like the japanese members.
