He's not serious [SUB][SUB]right?[/SUB][/SUB]
Oh, that's about as funny as a screen door on a battleship.
Its like having openable airplane windows!
And it will be the exact same for the next president who takes office. What is your point again?
That needing to be able to move around the country efficiently doesn't make a person any less qualified to run that country.
Same for Obama. When he flies around, there are two jumbo jets going everywhere. Freeways get blocked off for his 12 vehicle convoy, making people late for work, etc etc. Not to mention security. Secret Service kinda has to keep those guys alive, and it's not going to be easy sticking him in coach on a United flight so he can appear more in touch with the rest of us flying to a different city every 2-3 days.
And he doesn't have a choice in the matter. AFAIK the secret service flat out won't allow the president to travel alone even if said president insists on it.

Service ceiling of that type of aircraft was capped at around 18,000 feet due to the pilots being unable to breath any higher. The engine could, they were already fitting them with superchargers by 1925 or so, but the pilot couldn't.
Here's a video of the door rudder that GunFox mentioned.

oh yes this most certainly could most indubitably be very useful!
Is Obama into science much. . .?
Yes.
If Romney actually did say that, I bet he doesn't know jack about high altitudes; larger potential for extreme temperatures (less air filtering out the sunlight; it's apparently why space can be pretty hot or pretty cold), thinner air, lower pressure, higher exposure to ionizing radiation, the LAST thing a traveler needs is to open a window. Closer to space you get, the more dangerous it is to remain outside. For all his big Inquisitorial mouthings, he seems to know not all that much about science; then again he's a bloody Republican, which as we know are barely a few levels above Amish folk on the tech tree. If it's fake though, never mind, though nonetheless I reserve my spite and contempt for Conservatives. Also, speaking about decompression, do eyes really pop if you rapidly transition from normal pressure to vacuum, or is that just another sci-fi myth?
Except most of that stuff isn't even relevant. According to current definitions, space begins at ~100km, airliners cruise below 10km. You don't experience most of those harmful effects. Lower pressure, thinner air, yes. Ionizing radiation? Hardly. Extreme temperatures? No. The only extreme temperature you're going to get at 36,000 ft is cold. Less sunlight being filtered out by air has nothing to do with it. Even if sunlight could heat things to dangerous levels, flying through freezing air at ~1000 km/h will cool them off. It sounds like you don't know shit about high altitudes. You can't just fly into a pocket of air that's 200 degrees F, that's just not how it works.
Oh god be true. Let him have it on Air Force One, and then let him open it.
People tend to say stupid things when presented with topics they don't know a lot about, this isn't surprising. If you told me to talk about car engines or robotics and expected me to give an answer I'd probably say something just as retarded.
Maybe you should say "I have a team of professionals, I'd like you to refer to them for subjecs that are not my field of expertise"
Smaller aircraft often do have windows that open. At lower altitudes and speeds, it is just fine to open a window. Hell in small aircraft you can even make "door turns" where you open one of the doors in order to turn the aircraft. Any idea what model her aircraft was?
how else would you do a skydive? [editline]25th September 2012[/editline] oh sorry, I thought this was a common sense conversation. :)
just showed up on local news in the Netherlands.
I sure hope he tests it on one of his own private jets while he's aboard.
I call bullshit. Not even Romney is that stupid. I want audio or video of him saying this. And all 3 of your sources are pretty biased. Thinkprogress at least links to LA Times, but that article kinda suggests it was a joke.

Christ. I know he was trying to be endearingly funny, and i almost bit. But the "..i dunnowhytheydon't..." thing kinda shows him as an absolute retard. So what's the list now?: 1. No empathy 2. No situational awareness 3. Unwilling to process all available information before wanting to start a war 4. Mormon 5. Seemingly uneducated in the basics of physics 6. Ignorant of history on account of being mormon 7. Zero understanding of human genetics and biology again on account of being mormon 8. Ignorant hatred towards 47% of America 9. Wants to supress 12-18% of american population on account of them not adhering to... subjective perceptions of divinely intended norms. What!? Why is he even nominated for any party? IMO all of these should NEVER be present in any candidate at all ever! Holy fucking SHIT America. You're a fucking joke...

I sincerely hope for his sake that he was just trying to make a joke.
This will have no effect on the elections. it's been proven many times over you don't need an IQ above 80 to be the president.
after seeing the video I think it was a joke conservatives just suck at jokes
after seeing the video I think it was a joke conservatives just suck at jokes
Agreed. He was flat with the presentation.
Agreed. He was flat with the presentation.
yeah the pundit really missed still, was one hell of a shitty joke
P.sure he wasn't joking.
That would require tons of modifications to other plane parts and planes would need to fly much lower. Why doesn't he just buy a early WW2 era warplane,a helicopter, zeppelin or a balloon with his money made in religious charity scams?
humans can survive low pressures but not for long hell we can even survive a vacuum for about a minute or so if there's immediate medical treatment afterwards
What. You go in a vacuum and you'll explode. Mitt Romney is just plane retarded, but it's ok, his mormon underwear protects him from science
What. You go in a vacuum and you'll explode. Mitt Romney is just plane retarded, but it's ok, his mormon underwear protects him from science
I see what you did there
You go in a vacuum and you'll explode.
That is false. Going into a vacuum makes your blood evaporate and your lungs collapse, but you don't outright explode. If you're quick enough with bringing the person exposed back, they'll live.

Where'd the sound go [editline]25th September 2012[/editline] oops pressed mute button instead of pause music
I hate the guy, but that is really pretty harmless as far as his crap goes.
