Yeah this. It advocated for freedom of religion, and lack thereof.
The government is suppose to be separate from religion altogether. The only time they should get involved in religion is to make sure everyone can practice their beliefs.
don't Christians pray on sunday? every sunday? why do they need a national prayer day then?
Only because of butthurt atheists. This law doesn't affect them in any way.
I already says how it effects everyone. Also secularist =/= atheist.
Yeah this. It advocated for freedom of religion, and lack thereof.
You just said the opposite of that statement was an opinion, as to discredit it. So, uh. What you just said is also an opinion then, and discredited by your own logic.
Advocating Religion shows people to be tolerant which will make for a better Country, having a logic day will teach people and also make the country better. I say have both.
Oh my god. Since when are religious people tolerant? Have you seen the hate thrown out by the Muslims? The hate that the Christians send to the gay community? The hate the Atheists throw at the Christians? You sir, need to read the news more often.
A vast majority of Americans are religious, of course Obama will fight for this.
A vast majority of Americans are religious, of course Obama will fight for this.
That doesn't make it right. Appeal to majority. The government is supposed to make secular decisions, for the good of the people in the long run, not what they want this moment, and furthermore this law is clearly unconstitutional.
There are so many things wrong with this statement. First, religion is obviously NOT tolerant. Second, you have absolutely zero fucking evidence. Third, my first point is a clear counter-example to your little hypothesis.
most religious people i've met was tolerant, more so than most atheists i've met.
To everyone saying "big deal": yeah, the holiday itself isn't a big deal. But it has already been ruled UNCONSTITUTIONAL, and THAT is what makes it a big deal. Obama should not be fighting for something unconstitutional.
most religious people i've met was tolerant, more so than most atheists i've met.
Religious people tolerant of other religious people? Shocking. Try meeting some hard-core theists while being gay, a liberal, atheist, or just about anything else they have prejudice against.
It's hard for me to choose a side. At first, I didn't care, but if it were McCain trying to do it, I would be against it. It coming from a liberal doesn't bother me as much, but at the same time I would like the full separation of church and state. I hate how you have to swear on a bible, "In God We Trust", pledge of allegiance, etc.
most religious people i've met was tolerant, more so than most atheists i've met.
that's like saying "gays are intolerant of straight people, always trying to force straights to accept them. intolerant fucks they are"
To everyone saying "big deal": yeah, the holiday itself isn't a big deal. But it has already been ruled UNCONSTITUTIONAL, and THAT is what makes it a big deal. Obama should not be fighting for something unconstitutional.
Pretty much the reason this should be fought.
I hate how you have to swear on a bible, "In God We Trust", pledge of allegiance, etc.
1. Solemn Oath / Solemn Affirmation, look it up 2. Pledge of Allegiance is optional
Religious people tolerant of other religious people? Shocking. Try meeting some hard-core theists while being gay, a liberal, atheist, or just about anything else they have prejudice against.
I didn't mean they were just tolerant to other religious people, most of my friends are Christians and get along with my liberal, atheist, and gay friends. They're not constantly whining to each other, they just let it be.
1. Solemn Oath / Solemn Affirmation, look it up 2. Pledge of Allegiance is optional
Pledge is still institutionalized by the government, exactly like this holiday. Obviously this holiday was also optional, but still unconstitutional...
most religious people i've met was tolerant, more so than most atheists i've met.
I believe a lot of "Christians" are closet atheists, honestly. I used to sometimes (still do, occasionally) say I was Christian to not upset people.
I didn't mean they were just tolerant to other religious people, most of my friends are Christians and get along with my liberal, atheist, and gay friends. They're not constantly whining to each other, they just let it be.
Keyword: "most"
Pledge is still institutionalized by the government, exactly like this holiday. Obviously this holiday was also optional, but still unconstitutional...
Yeah, but your post preceded those things with the words "have to".
I didn't mean they were just tolerant to other religious people, most of my friends are Christians and get along with my liberal, atheist, and gay friends. They're not constantly whining to each other, they just let it be.
Don't you ever think that Agnostics and (knowing something I don't) Atheist were trying to, I dunno, help you? Maybe they were trying to help you get from behind religions back and go to the candle in the dark called science.
Oh look, he's throwing progressives under the bus to pander to the right in hopes of Republican votes that will never happen. Again.
I believe a lot of "Christians" are closet atheists, honestly. I used to sometimes (still do, occasionally) say I was Christian to not upset people.
Well, I can see how you'd get that impression. But see the truth is that god always secretly meant for people to pick and choose which parts of the bible to follow and which parts could be discarded later as society progressed unlike a stagnant religion.
Oh look, he's throwing progressives under the bus to pander to the right in hopes of Republican votes that will never happen. Again.
Once he gets reelected for a second term I hope he starts trolling the fuck out of the right.
Keyword: "most"
The other that makes it "all friends" would be my atheist/islamic/etc friends who are still just as tolerant, maybe i'm lucky, but I hardly see any religious arguing outside of the news and facepunch.
Don't you ever think that Agnostics and (knowing something I don't) Atheist were trying to, I dunno, help you? Maybe they were trying to help you get from behind religions back and go to the candle in the dark called science.
Agnostics believe you can't ever know if there is a god or not. However, the only way to disprove god, would be to know everything. Thus, you would have to be a god to disprove god. Isn't this irrational in anyway to you? Also, agnostics are absolutely sure that you can't ever be sure :v:.

Because that stuff happens over there, and it isn't your problem.
thats really dumb bro
I know. At least I can realize that I'm a bit bias. It makes sense, though. It coming from someone who's less conservative makes it not seem as bad, I suppose.
The only way to be sure is to prove that the universe has always existed. Also, this makes Atheism look silly.
They universe may or may not have always existed. This has no bearing what so ever on the existence of a god.
