Kickstarter seriously needs to protect its backers more, whether it be at the cost of the backers or the people getting funded. If a small fee was included in every backing, I'm sure a legal team under the Kickstarter company would have more than enough funds to take action against campaigners who don't deliver on promises.

I love that people hate on Minecon because of that one video with all cringe-worthy moments.

I was there in France and quite frankly it was a pretty fun experience. Also met up with some friends there, who also had a good time even though constantly being asked for signatures.

As for unofficial conventions, there are scams most of the time and Mojang has warned people about this in the past.
