avg for life bitches
-snip, didn't read full thread, has been pointed out again and again-
But seriously, I thought it was pretty well-known that there are a lot of computer illiterate people that thought it was a good idea to close the antivirus for extra performances...
I have Avira and always have it off.
The last time I got a virus was when it was on, actually.
25% of PC users realized AV is overhyped crap that slows your computer down and stops things you need from working.
I don't care if my windows pc gets infected. All I do with it is play crappy video games when I'm bored.
Ain't nobody gonna infect my Linux PC where all my real works gets done.
My laptop died because I pushed it to hard and the motherboard fried. Now I have a desktop and simply got Security Essentials and Advanced System Care to clean out my computer. I'm good.
I run NOD32 but I'm never real worried. The only time I ever get virus reports is when I would look for NO-CD cracks for games or whatever.. and that was way back in the day. "Oh this looks like a good site!". Such a noob back then. You just gotta be careful.. that's it really. I just let it run now out of habit basically.. but nothings hit me that NOD32, Lavasoft's Adaware, Spybot S&D, MalwareBytes and HijackThis couldn't fix. Easiest toolset to fix friends computers too.
Right because it was magically fixed last month after all those years I spent putting up with it's bullshit.
what's wrong with norton

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
No, seriously.

nobody said anything about magic
I don't use antivirus because I'm bad like that
I use WinProGuard 3000. A random pop-up told me to download it, so I did.
ESET NOD32 best antivirus ever.
Stays out of your face, only informs you in a nice neat little box at the bottom right when it blocked or removed something. Very friendly interface.
And when you need to update your username and password it only reminds you once every boot. I love it.

Antivirus bros.
Also I use av because I handle potentially dangerous files quite often. I'd use linux, but almost no software I use works on it.
I've been using AVG. Only one that I've found truly effective yet not incredibly annoying like others.
AVG Free is useless anyways.

Not afraid. They're legal.. I just never took care of my discs and personally got bored of changing discs. Almost all games I have are steam now though.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
No, seriously.
I only turn my one on if im downloading something. Beside from that, Ill let Google chrome warn me of bad websites
I use Avira, and once I had to turn it's firewall off to get my iTunes to update. That was it, no viruses though!
Microsoft Security Essentials is the best if you're on Windows. It integrates seamlessly with the OS. I use that in conjunction with ZoneAlarm, and my computer is running perfectly.
Makes sense. You disable it for whatever reason and just forget to restart it.
Not when Windows 7 is literally screaming at you to turn it on.
MSE2 + Windows firewall is all you need now; there's no point to using anything else at all.
inb4 macs dont get viruses
It's nobody elses fault except the user of the machine if they get infected whils't disabling their antivirus software to watch their incest porn.
Who would ever wanna hack a Mac ? There useless.
AVG Free is useless anyways.
That's why I use the paid one.
I only use a AV just in case, other then that i've pretty much had no virus in the year i've owned this PC.
Wow dude why would you start a linux war in your own thread
Now people are gonna be throwing their useless fucking nerd opinions in about how cherry is the best flavor and win7 is better
also people who do this are dumb
Your mom is dumb, you ugly son of a bitch...

G DATA came out with the highest detection rates. Though it scores a lot lower on performance and virus removal tests.
