If they broke him, he was damaged before he joined.
I have 2 friends who served. 1 did 2 tours in Iraq with the USMC. He takes treatment for PTSD, but is still normal. The other did 1 tour as an infantryman in the Army, spending 8 months on foot in Baghdad. He is exactly the same as before he joined.
