• Pope claims condoms could make African Aids crisis worse
It's been THE greatest cause of human suffering since the beginning of known time.
Uh, I'm not excusing it of all the bad things it's done but it helps people. Some people can't deal with the idea that when you die, you're dead and that's it. Rather than sinking into a depression, they feel that the dead person is still around looking over them. Do you want to go into an orphanage and tell little Bobby that mummy and daddy don't care what happens to him because they're incapable of feeling anything since they're decomposing? Or going into an old people's home and saying to Irma that she's stupid for thinking her husband still loves her when he was cremated in 1986? For many people, religion is a coping mechanism. It's a place for people to get to know other people of similar backgrounds and it provides emotional support. When religion goes awry then yeah, it causes all sorts of problems. At any rate, like I've said, we wouldn't be where we are today in terms of architecture, science, art, literature or medicine if it wasn't for religion in the first place.
Y'know... I pray for the African people, but nobody seems to answer my prayers... I wonder why
This just in. Pope's a kiddy fiddler who thinks condoms will ruin his pleasure.
Can be religion ban time now?
What is it with facepunch and hating Christians? If someone wants to believe in a god and worship it let them, it's not hurting you. I agree that the Pope is an idiot but there is no excuse for banning religion. I am an atheist, I have no problem with any religion as long as it is not being used as an excuse for bigotry or as a justification for violence. If religion was to cease to exist because people stopped believing it I would think it is a good thing but if it was to be banned I would fight it just as much as any Christian or Muslim. Every time I see a thread about someone who blames a crime on religion people are saying it should be banned, but every time there is a thread on someone blaming there crime on a violent video game people blame the person who committed the crime, not the game.
"Dad, can I please go and play in the construction lot?" "No, it's dangerous, don't play there" "Fuck it, I am doing it.Besides, people in africa don't listen to the pope because he's an "idiot"" "Oh god, I lost my legs, I shouldn't have played on the lot and listened to my dad, like people should listen to the pope and stop making stupid comments on fp"
Tr0le sighted.
