he was almost 80, his time was getting close anyway
For all you or I know, he could have been destined to live another fifty years. And then those fuckin' dumplings came along.
Maybe the dumplings absorbed his stomach acid and this caused them to expand and damage his stomach lining?
damaged stomach lining probably won't kill you that fast at least i sure hope it doesn't
Maybe the dumplings absorbed his stomach acid and this caused them to expand and damage his stomach lining?
That's not how it works.
damaged stomach lining probably won't kill you that fast at least i sure hope it doesn't
What about if it stretches so much that the protective lining (that isn't dissolved by acid) is fractured and the acid seeps through? I don't see how you could have said that and meant it. If your stomach lining deteriorates then you're going to have an immensely painful death, like when you're shot in the stomach or intestines. Or maybe there was no more room in the stomach for the huge sudden increase in food and thus the epiglottis was damaged creating immediate severe swallowing and breathing difficulty. The source doesn't specify how quick the person died, it only uses a weak-connotated verb in which case it's completely ambiguous. Promptly could have been "died on hospital arrival" or "died the same day" or even "died the next day". The source is shit.
How on earth did eating too fast kill him I'd sure like to know the official cause of death.
That's not how it works.
Thanks for your very informative and enlightening response. Care to explain how I could be wrong? Is it not basic science that if the pressure is too great then problems are bound to occur?
Well i guess you could say he was full of win
I imagine he won and said. "I can die happily now." Smiled, stroked his stomach, and died.

Also the stomach can stretch quite well, most adult stomachs can stretch to hold 2 to 3 litres of food. I doubt ten whole dumplings would be enough to rip it open or even cause significant damage to anything. [editline]23rd September 2011[/editline] I mean it, I'm in taiwan, dumplings are very common. I can easily eat 20 for dinner.

At least he died eating good food.
