People bitching about this........seriously this could be fantastic Superman and Batman play so well off each other any person who can't believe that needs to read this Superman/Batman - Public Enemies Its the best worlds finest novel imo I hope they don't have Batman and Superman at odds it's sooooo much better when they work together!
I never really understood how you can really pair these two up. They're completely different, not just in personality, origin and powers, but in sheer scale. Batman is a street level super hero, while Superman is more of a planetary, and sometimes even galactic one.
Batman's the brains, Superman's the muscle. That's not to say that Superman's totally stupid or that Batman's useless in a fight, but you can't disarm a bomb with a hand grenade any more than you can put a tank in a sleeper hold. I could see something like Superman fighting Luthor in his power suit while Batman plows through waves of henchmen to hack into a LexCorp satellite. Saying "why does Superman need Batman" is like saying "why does Hulk need the rest of the Avengers". Everyone has an area that they excel at, the fact that Supes' and Bats' areas of expertise are so different only makes for a stronger argument for why they SHOULD work together. Clark is a big fat threat, Bruce is a paranoid asshole, they butt heads. But I'm certain that it'll end with [sp]Supes handing Bruce some kryptonite, in case he ever does go rogue[/sp]. [editline]22nd July 2013[/editline]
I don't see what's really badass about Batman taking down Superman in that fight then. Clearly, Superman didnt even use the same force he used with Green Arrow.
Personally, I think it would be fun to defy the casual fans and have Superman totally whup Batman. All the Hot Topic kiddies flocking the theater, wondering if Christian Bale will show up after the credits, joking about how Aquaman is terrible and how Batman is the best at everything, only to see Supes play along with a fight for a little bit before totally neutralizing Batman in a matter of seconds.

Plot: Superman: I'm an awful superhero Batman: my parents are dead. end
Not sure how they will potray a human with gadgets and a super humanoid together since superman does not have any real major flaws, why would he want batmans help.. hmm.
Not sure how they will potray a human with gadgets and a super humanoid together since superman does not have any real major flaws, why would he want batmans help.. hmm.
No, Man of Steel's Superman really sucks at the 'saving the day' part. He really needs help.

It's just that his job was, y'know, saving people. You get more flak for cocking that up than ruining the first pizza you have to deliver or whatnot.
Plot: Superman: I'm an awful superhero Batman: my parents are dead. end
My plot: Superman: My biological alien father taught me. My adoptive Earthling father taught. I still done goofed and millions died. Help! Batman: Okay. I'll teach you everything you need to know. Just slide down the Batpole and... Superman: On second thought, I'll just fly around in space for awhile and I'm sure I'll figure it out. Batman: Okay, but I can teach you things you'll never learn by spending all your time on Uranus. end
"Why does Captain America need to team up with the Hulk? Hulk is way stronger, there's no reason the two should ever have to work together!"
Not sure how they will potray a human with gadgets and a super humanoid together since superman does not have any real major flaws, why would he want batmans help.. hmm.
I'm pretty sure, from a comics standpoint, that superman is more likely to be deceived than batman. Also don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure batman is smarter.

Why? Worlds Finest existed for years, there was even a two part episode in the DCAU that if i recall was really good involving the two teaming up, called "Worlds Finest" I mean yeah it depends on how its done, but why are you freaking out at the idea? Its been done before.
it was actually three part :v:
Oh god, the fanboys are all going ballistic.
If their fight goes like this, I will be happy.

Main reason I'll remain a skeptic is simply because I've never really liked Superman as a concept. Superman relies on invincibility, superspeed, superstrength, flying, xray vision, and laser eyes. Batman relies on combat skills, gadgets, and tactics. Superman has a flawless sense of right and wrong. Batman's fight against crime is fueled by a sense of vengeance. Superman's weakness is a rare crystal material. Batman's weakness is that of any ordinary human. I like Batman because he's an interesting, relate-able, and somewhat realistic superhero. However I've never liked Superman because he's just too flawless, he's like someone with noclip, wallhacks, 999 damage and godmode enabled in a multiplayer game.
Man if I had a dollar every time someone related Superman with someone who cheats. Superman's concept is that he is super and he looks like a man. No matter what you do or any human can do, he is better than any human in every way. Oh you can jump really high, Superman can fly. You're strong? Well Superman can lift a mountain with his pinky. However you must remember, you cannot write a Superman story the same way you write a Batman story. Same thing, you can't write a Ghost Rider story the same way you way you write a Spider-Man story. Superman has nearly every power you can think of. He may have been raised as a human being but he is not one of them. And he never will be, ever. Superman stories are best where his sense of right and wrong is challenged. Superman's weakness is not always the famous green crystal but sometimes, it's his humanity. Why does he choose to save this world and guide it when he can just fix everything if he really wanted to take charge? Superman stories should allow readers to forget about what can be done by sheer force or power. Superman has got that one covered. Instead, the stories should focus on what someone can do with all the power in the world. Why would you stick around with a species that is inferior to you in every way? How do you deal by being one of the last survivors of your species and being isolated? How do you deal with it? What is right and what is wrong anyway? Is it even right for someone with such power to meddle with human affairs or should he just fix everything for humans? How can he have people follow him when nobody can be like him? The 'moral' rules he puts out becomes much harder to swallow from a guy who can fly faster than the speed of light. Why not be scared of the guy? Why not listen to Lex Luthor? Shouldn't we be fearful and perhaps jealous of the alien god in tights? Why does Superman continue to be Clark Kent? Can Clark Kent live without being Superman or can Superman live without being Clark Kent? I know everyone talks about Superman's flawless sense of right and wrong and how he never loses control and can see everything as it is but it's never been universally like that in comics since the first two years of the Golden Age.

And magic. And a lot of shit.

If there is a discussion about both, I will usually join in. Don't see what's such a big problem about it. I'm not saying you can't like Batman more than Superman, that'd be dumb but I wanted to clear a few things up about Superman. And really, is there such a big problem if I join in on the discussion whenever comics and Superman is the main focus? Edit: Also, there has only been one other major thread in SH that was related to Superman where I joined in and that was the news about Man of Steel receiving mediocre reviews.
I'm really surprised how many people are saying this is going to be terrible. Avengers did it with six heroes, this one only has to juggle two. I dunno, I just find it funny. Before, everyone was saying "THEY SHOULD GIVE US A WORLD'S FINEST MOVIE BEFORE DOING JUSTICE LEAGUE". Now they announce a World's Finest movie and the response seems to be "WHAT A STUPID IDEA." I guess you just can't please some people. Whether it's good or bad, at least it won't be yet ANOTHER origin story to introduce Batman, a character with the most well-known origin of all time (aside from maybe Spider-Man).
I really expect the plot to be: First arc: setting up batman/his view on superman 2nd arc: confrontation of both heroes/setting up enemy for 3rd arc 3rd arc: enemy attack them and they team up together.
