I'm from Finland, and what is a Republican?
It's someone who's dumber than if you combined a kristillisdemokraatti, a member of the green party and a member of the Svenska folkpartiet.
I'm from Finland, and what is a Republican?
Two kinds of republicans:
1 of them is a moderate, someone who is sane, would compromise or even side with the Democrats("liberals") on some issues.
The other kind of republican is more prominent now, and its the batshit crazy Republican who votes against a bill because the President or the Democrats support it. Some even signed a pledge from some pissant that basically says "don't raise taxes." Of course, I might be wrong. It also had someone named Michelle Bachmann who tried to be a Swiss citizen(Palin, without charisma, looks, and even stupider).
Basically, its this:
Democrats: Somewhat middle, maybe little left, or right(conservative)
Republicans: Batshit insane extremely right on the scale.

I'd add a dash of Perussuomalainen into that stew.
I'm from finland and what is this?
i dislike romney for the fact he seems to only give a fuck about high class while he strips the middle class and lower class of government help while increasing taxes, removing any help for children as-well. In his eyes if your not rich, you don't deserve to live.

also he's a mormon i hate mormons.

Romney opening his mouth pretty much seal's Obama's victory.

By most other nations, the democrats are pretty conservative. In Canada our conservative party is a little left of the democrats.

I think I've realized that most kids in HS or Middleschool seem to tilt away from Obama mainly because they are ill informed and don't really know what they are talking about. I just don't see how you can argue with anything Obama has done. Sure maybe his health care could be adjusted, but what else has he done that has done nothing but help us? If you Romney lovers think it's only going to take 4 years to fix a whole economy, then you need to really need to re think why you are interested in politics.
Voter apathy in America is unlike anything I've heard of. Nobody cares about anything that doesn't have an immediate impact on their life. They'll squawk and draw boundary lines over religious doctrine, but rarely do I ever hear a discussion or argument about law.
To be fair a lot of it is because they're powerless. The public doesn't choose their president, the electoral college does. The EC is more than willing to ignore public opinion as well. On top of that the president often can't get anything done because of the partisan bullshit going on in the capitol building, which again the average voter is absolutely powerless to curb because their representative is one out of 200 or so. So even if their guy is a level headed leader willing to compromise for the good of the people the rest of his colleagues are still bickering down party lines.
Voter apathy is not just because people don't care, it's also because they're frustrated and can't do anything to solve the problems in DC. It's why I don't vote. My presidential choice is absolutely worthless, my state is going to put it's votes in for Romney regardless of who I choose, and my senator/representative can't do anything due to how fucking large the Senate and House are. Voting does nothing to ensure my voice is heard on Capitol Hill and that my concerns are considered by the people duly elected to represent me and run the country, so why should I waste my time voting for them in the first place? My vote is 100% meaningless.
If my vote actually meant something I'd cast it, sure. But it doesn't. So I don't.
And, hell, can you really blame anyone for only caring what happens to them? The political clusterfuck in Syria does not matter to someone who's going to be living behind the Wendy's in a cardboard box next week if they lose their job. The majority of Americans are so tightly strung financially that they don't have room to give more than a passing glance at world affairs. Two thirds of Americans, in fact. Including my household. If either one of my parents lose their job all three of us are going to be on the street within two weeks.
I'd go into politics if I could stand dealing with it.
I don't get into politics very much because it all boils down to left versus right bitchfighting. Nothing gets done. No policy choices are made. It's just Red Versus Blue, us vs them, whoever has majority hammers out whatever bills suit their party lines without giving a single fuck what those bills will do to the common folk, and I'm frankly sick of it. Partisan politics are why Congress has a lower approval rating than Ebola virus.
In all likelihood I intend to emigrate eventually.
Unless you're going to Canada emigration won't do much either.

This has actually never happened.
This has actually never happened.
2004 election: Florida.
Edit: Even if I am mistaken I still don't trust the EC. They're not under any obligation to go with the public vote. All you're doing is kindly asking if they'd consider choosing your pick.
Lolol I apologize to everyone in America on Michigan's behalf for Mitt Romney.
Does anyone else think that Mitt's campaign is just a little over the top? Like seriously, he almost seems TOO horrible to be true. How can anyone fuck up as hard as him unintentionally? You don't dump hundreds of thousands of dollars to run for president and do the stupid shit he does.

This is what the conservatives want though. It seems insane to us, but this is their real belief system. He's doing exactly what he needs to do to get their support.
in my part of texas a good chunk of people seem to dislike romney, but dislike obama more so they pick romney.
I'm not really surprised, we vote democratic pretty much every election.
This makes me wonder why we elected him Governor in the first place though.
