Nobody raises chickens or cows for companionship, I think you knew this already but still decided to post in an effort to make someone else look dumb.
I really hate users like this
You can rise a dog as food and it will be food, what's your issue?
Sure, eating someone's pet is horrible, but animal is an animal and if you breed it with the express purpose of eating it (which means it doesn't get to develop relationship with humans or any such), then there's no difference really.

And besides, you are wrong about the chicken anyway!
I ate whale once, in Iceland.
I still feel bad for that.
I don't see anything wrong with eating dog meat as long as the dogs are raised and slaughtered humanely.
theres a good argument to be made based on research that dogs are about as intelligent and conscious as a 3-4 year old human child, even if you could breed them for slaughter (which they really can't) theres still the point that you're killing animals that are somewhat intelligent
Dogs raised to be food are probably raised like any other animal made for food.
If it's good, i eat it. No matter how cute it used to be.
It's a bit more unethical to eat dogs in my opinion, since they have been bred by humans for hundreds of thousands of years to be useful companion dogs, that are far more capable than either cows or chickens or something. They also are one of the few animals to understand human emotions.
Actually a little shocked that a lot of you have no problem with this :(
Unless they eat wild dog or something, which have evolved seperately
different cultures eat different things.. Besides, the only reason people don't eat cats is because they are pets, yet rabbet is perfectly fine.
same with horse meat, which is actually pretty damn fine

Cultural differences for one; the companionship of human and animal is not a foreign concept, but traditionally they were never perceived as highly in most Asian countries. A dedicated, loyal dog could be considered as your companion, but they were rarely treated as they did in Western countries.
If I had to make a crude comparison, how a hawk would have been treated in traditional falconry might be a close depiction. Would you eat your hawk? Quite unlikely. Would you have issues eating a different hawk shot down by an archer? Likely not.
Also note, Koreans may be infamous for this topic but that's just painting with a broad brush; there are historical indications of consumption for canine around the world. For a more modern example, Roald Amundsen also ate the sled dogs during his South Pole expedition.

im not disputing this, i was pointing out that glitchman said his only gripe with eating dog is because of how widely bred they have been for companionship. I was just pointing out your post was essentially stating the obvious, everyone knows different cultures eat different things
Dogs make better pets then pigs cows or chickens, I would feel terrible raising a dog knowing i'll have to kill and eat it at some point.
