Anonymous declares 'war' on jihadists in retaliation for Paris massacre with #OpCharlieHebdo

So a few edgy teens that think by saying they're anonymous makes them powerful/important are threatening to kill a massive multi-billion dollar terrorist organisation that has access to thousands of troops, missiles, bombs, etc.
Ok.
lol what are they going to do against them?
I am just imagining a bunch of kids in che guevara shirts shooting random bearded arab men with pellet guns and failing miserably.
Disrupting websites and finding out personal details, it is all they ever do. However, that could actually be useful for some people.
Can't take down the internet
The MPAA begs to differ.
I would like to know how they are going to carry out this operation with a legion of teenagers on computers as their backbone.
Like how are they going to kill anyone?
Pack a bunch of monkeys into one room with a lot of computers and eventually they'll compose the works of Shakespeare.
Or take down an international terrorist organization, whichever comes first.
The kill shot video is on youtube of the fuckers responsible. He gets OWNED
As laughable as they generally are, when a lot of people really get behind something like this they can often actually accomplish something.
It'd be good to see an organised group of Anons do something great, just doesn't seem very likely.
You know, I have to wonder, is Anonymous technically declaring war on themselves because in some situations, Anonymous is a terror group.
If they're serious they better pray that they don't end up like that one Anon group who went up against the Cartels.
Basically good luck
This is different considering that the cartels pretty much run Mexico anyway.
"We will track you down - every last one - and will kill you,”
This isn't going to happen. Some kids put up a youtube video that's it

What happened there?

They'll probably order a few unwanted pizzas to Syria too!
I think MI6 actually want the jihadists to have an online presence, it makes it a lot easier to find stuff out about them. It was said today that one of the reasons it was hard to know about the Charlie Hebdo attack in advance was that the men were brothers and could communicate in person if they wanted to rather than online or by phone
You know, I have to wonder, is Anonymous technically declaring war on themselves because in some situations, Anonymous is a terror group.
Anonymoys may be a terror group by some definitions, but I would not categorize a loose group which generally promotes freedom of speech, anti-surveillance, anti-censorship and the health of kittens with a group that bases all of its action on violence.
In all seriousness, they could help prevent another attack whether indirectly or directly.
I know it's cool to hate on Anonymous because some people think they're just a bunch of angsty teenagers or scriptkiddies, but there are some operations that are successful and bear fruit.
Their claim about killing someone though? I highly doubt.
Wonder if this will affect the outcome of that plot from Al Qaeda in Britain.

How does that make us any better than the jihadist?
This is sending a wrong message. Sure, there needs to be revenge but not by murdering everyone responsible. Every presence and support of their propaganda should be quelled.

It may not be sending the right message. But even though I generally would think punishment and revenge never works, I absolutely can't think of a "proper" way to deal with the madness of islamic extremism.
Besides, your philosophy is black and white. Yeah, it's not politically correct to threat anyone like that. But I think it's acceptable to eliminate people whose attempt is to eliminate innocent individuals.

It seems like a play on words, they'll probably 'kill' their online presence.
They'll go after jihadi forums, rat out their owners, all that kind of stuff.
Can't really take them seriously after this:

I feel like it's a video game and NATO just gained a war asset.
Well, I hope their talents go to good use.

I understand where you are coming from but honestly if you would replace "charlie hebdo" wit "western world", there would be no difference between them and us. A shady masked person is making threats by shoddy videos.
I understand the need to vigilance and honestly who doesn't like that people react so drastically to these events but this needs to be handled properly. Such vigilante movements could be very well used against us in propaganda and other ways, it might backfire badly.

That is also what I thought but it still sounded very fanatical, they should have used something else instead.
Giving the authorities names and addresses?
Otherwise they are just a bunch of angsty french anons.
Wouldn't call them angsty, just upset and looking for a way to help.
Honestly, I have no problem with them doing this if they're forwarding credible information to the proper authorities. The more people looking for these people, the better.
watch it end up like the boston bomber situation and innocents are accused and it wastes authorities' time
That would be the only bitch of it, sorting through information to see if it checks out. But still, if people are dedicated and can help, I support them.
As much as I would like to see some of these people doxxed, come on. Give me a break dude, it's anonymous. OoOoOOO scary! A whole bunch of teenagers who think they're badasses because the media regards them as amazing hacker vigilantes are gonna do absolutely nothing to go after these guys because, unlike anonymous, they are insane enough to fucking kill people.

I don't think you understand here. These 12 innocent people had so much to live for, people they cared about, people who cared about them, friends, family, everything. And now it's gone because of some fucks who think that their religion is the best. These 12 people will never think, feel, and live again. Their families will never ever see them again. Their lovers will never kiss them again. Their friends will never have fun with them again.
The worse thing yet is, these assholes want to kill more.
Killing the fucks would be small punishment for what damage they caused.
They'll probably order a few unwanted pizzas to Syria too!
And get the pizza delivery guy killed, great plan!
wow this doesnt help the situation at all.
Hah
Seriously, I fucking lol'd
So two groups of neckbeards will be fighting?

One example I can think of right now was the time when the officers in syria(I think) shot a missil on and opened fire on a family because they thought the stick the child hold was a weapon.
And by saying that you are actually saying what the terrorist groups are doing is justified. Which is fucked up
Man, this is like a joke involving poking a bee hive over and over...
Poke the sleeping giant in the eyes... nope!
I don't see any positive outcome out of this threat/action.
