someone posted additional information including courthouse records at http://hubpages.com/hub/Cryptographic-clues
http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/2011/03/fbi_needs_help_cracking_code_murder_case.php mentions "his throat likely slashed", which i was a little skeptical about since it's the first i've heard anything about it.
deciding to look into the matter further i found another site ( http://www.aolnews.com/2011/04/01/fbi-asks-public-to-help-decode-notes-from-1999-death-of-ricky-mc/ ) mentioning the throat slashing and referencing 2001 for the source, which was much later than the previous news articles i had found.
searched through https://www.courts.mo.gov/casenet/cases/searchCases.do and found case# 22921-03404-01
there may be others related to him, but this is the only one i'm certain is connected to him. This also mentions his middle initial and another address for reference (2852A Pennsylvania, St Louis, MO).
one of the links above mentions possible relatives. from what i've gathered Charles McCormick (said to be the brother of Ricky) and Vickie Michelle Young McCormick were married at one point. she recently filed for divorce in late 2010 and the marriage has since been dissolved.
in more recent searching i found http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6297414&postcount=545 , which mentioned that he didn't own a car. having been 14-15 miles from his last known address and the information about the throat slashing.. this is starting to sound more like a homicide.
I saw an article about this case over the weekend and now it's all I can think of! I've been following along with this forum for days, and finally decided to register so I could throw out something I noticed...
On "P1":
As far as I have seen, everyone has deciphered the last 3 letters of the 2nd line and the 8th line as "INC" (some even said "ING".) I believe what people see as "I" is really "1". Look at how he writes his 1 in "P1" at the top of the page. Now look in the 4th line where he used "I" twice - his I's are uppercase (his I's look like this ---> I, not ----> l
Also, the parentheses format reminds me of doing a chem equation (not that I necessarily think this is a chem equation he was solving, just that the format reminds me of the steps my teacher made us write when solving an equation).
HMM
we need some suitably spunky yet energizingly enthusiastic music for this thread, gents!

^^ This. This is the new official Thread music.
Something just occurred to me. 99.84.5 could be for a Mosler safe, which has a combination consisting of 3 numbers ranging from 1 to 99.
99 - most likely a reference to 1999
84 - 6*14 = 84 (his birthday is reported to be 6-14-1958)
5 - perhaps this is when he started writing his cryptic messages?
assuming this is right.. it may provide some context for the rest of the notes.

Found the case# linking Sandra Jones to Ricky McCormick. (22990-04198)
One of the dockets states:
"Eviction executed and possession of premises returned to plaintiff on 062199" (Plaintiff is St. Louis Housing Authority).
I'm curious how he was surviving if he got evicted from his apartment.. i suppose it's possible he could have gone to live with his brother.
hi all
i have spent many hours just on breaking into patterns use paint and circleing them with colors not even close to dechipher phase
however i came across an interesting pattern and result that i immedately sent on fbi website for them to look into
more on that in a second
first its definately not a bet slip because wouldnt be written all at one time
the hosiptal thing seems plausible to me in that section possibly someone he met there or a doctor he showed his code to
he had to be an FBI informant while else would they spend so much resouces just to crack it
i believe he made it in all so it can be cracked thats why things in ( ) and note page has each section outlined
i believe he was scared for his life when he wrote this knowen he would possibly die and hope the FBI would be able to figure it out
i believe its an easy on the fly shorthand or phonetic code.
ok so now what i sent the fbi
i notice the one pattern about 6 times in total that i strongly believed was a person or location
rcbrnse so i google it
asked if i met r c barns building in missori so i told fbi i dint know if was close to where he was found for them to look into it
then i decided why not see for myself
r c barns is in troy MO
he was found in west alton MO
wich is the county directly south of troy MO
this rcbrnse appears 2 times in first line of third outlined section on notes page. where i believe it countinues to talk about directions and or things he seen or heard about.
havent looked at anythign about it since i read this forums and throw it out there for people to look at
thank you for your time
[editline]15th April 2011[/editline]
here is driving route from this r c barn
graaa i give up on link
get directions from rc barns address
1573 Sugar Grove Road Troy, MO 63379
to
Machens Club Dr
West Alton, MO 63386
webslueths said this is the address they say the body was found at
wish i had webslueth account
its about a 60-65 mile ride pretty straight shot down some main roads away from that area
also i noticed from my translation
alot of people think is XDRLX
i thought the same at first but then i noticed in the letter XORL pretty clearly so i change my XDRLX to XORLX

Trust me guys, people have been trying to crack the Zodiac killer code for a while now.
When they found Ricky he had only the notes, so we presume that are from hospital. Why? That is his last known destination, and when you are sick, your sickness is most important thing on the world for you. Why notes, that you don't forget this, because it is imposible to remember all information, also if you are taking a heart medications doctors always recomend that you have a list of medications with you (but nobody told Ricky that list must be readable to others). If our theory is correct, his doctor will know if Ricky wrote a note at checkup. Maybe even doctor himself told him to make a note or maybe even dictated him. In that theory his doctor will be able to understand most of the notes. In any case, it should be a his cardiologist to translate.
The first note is diagnosis and medication.
Before diagnosis, he had to do some tests (blood test, ultrasound etc.). Most likely he did a test a few days earlier or was ended in ER. It seems that first note is older then a second one, the handwriting is slightly different.
On the second note, which appears to be made on some other examination (maybe after 3 or 6 month later) the doctor changed his medication and introduce some new. If we are right, then he's been at least 3 times in the hospital and there should be some trace of his treatment.
What is commonly known facts about Americans? They are mad for the abbreviations, so we assumed that he was written in abbreviations in their own form of expression, most likely phonetic (he wrote as he spoke). The problem is that for some words he use only one letter (first) and for another words he use combination of letters (with some mistakes due to haste).
Sorry to my English, I am from Croatia and English is not my native language, but I think that you will understand me. Here is what my girlfriend and me think that writes in the notes (possible words and meaning):
massive post
Well there's this:
McCormick had used such encrypted notes since he was a boy
So it's not from the hospital. And why would he just be carrying a list of medical abbreviations?
A for effort though
woah, what is my thread doing up here again
English is not my first language, but after just trying to read what it says really fast, without paying close attention to the letters, it somehow says something. It's like some sort of unconcicious message, like skipping letters, and still being able to read the thing.
Holy shit I see the words. "Common sense" "Always" "Gets me"
I came in this thread seeing 12 pages fully expecting my fellow facepunchers to have cracked the code.
How do they know if the guy just was dyslexic, and it wasn't a code at all.
woah, what is my thread doing up here again
Heh, I can see my funny post on page two. 65 funnies, thank you guys.

I tried looking for patterns but I'm not as good as you guys :smith:
