this reminds me of that Simpsons episode
Not bad looking. Now put a throaty >6L V12 in the back coupled to a six speed manual and I'll be interested.
Not bad looking. Now put a throaty >6L V12 in the back coupled to a six speed manual and I'll be interested.
Obligatory TestECull post in an EV thread
Not bad looking. Now put a throaty >6L V12 in the back coupled to a six speed manual and I'll be interested.
I guess the car won't be for you then.
I wasn't aware that Micro Machines licensed their toy cars out to car manufactures to be actual cars.
Not bad looking. Now put a throaty >6L V12 in the back coupled to a six speed manual and I'll be interested.
That wouldn't be very electric.
That wouldn't be very electric.
But this car doesn't make vrooming noises and emits CO2 into the atmosphere and that is something TestECull doesn't like, he also does not like the fact that you need to charge the car instead of throwing fuel in it.
You guys know Tesla started by making sports cars right? Or did you all just forget the [del]Lotus Elise[/del] Roadster? They can't start a company by making a car that requires a huge production line.
You guys know Tesla started by making sports cars right? Or did you all just forget the [del]Lotus Elise[/del] Roadster? They can't start a company by making a car that requires a huge production line.
Well the thing is, Tesla originally started to make the Roadster in order to make the very first fully electric car but in 2004 Elon Musk got into the field and thanks to his funding they could expand beyond their originally concept. The Roadster become more of a joyride car rather then a race car which was its original purpose. Another thing was that right from the start Elon Musk announced the reason why they developed the Roaster and that was in order to properly R&D the fuck out of electronic cars while making a production line car in the progress, the Roadster provided all the necessary technology in order to make the upcoming Model S. For this new car, the technology is already there and without a doubt i think they are using Tesla's patents and that is the thing as well, Tesla wants competition, why else did they shared all their patents? tl;dr: The roadster was basically Tesla's R&D car in order to provide the essential technology and funding that would be needed later for their future cars like the Model S, X and III.
Whatever, where are the flying cars?
Whatever, where are the flying cars?
Still bad ideas until car autopilots gets better
Just imagine the amount of rules and laws that needs to be put in place for flying cars or the taxes the government might introduce.
Ha, what a joke of a concept. The presentation was painful to watch and they made Musk look like a world class presenter. They even said the "UFO lines" will be part of all their future cars :what: Tesla made the roadster to get funding to develop the Model S to show that electric cars don't have to be weird mobiles and they can be more than golf carts. The Model S is one of the most beautiful cars on the market. The presentation just showed off a Tesla like framework and had acronyms fucking everywhere. When they showed us the video of what the car can do and then just showed poor CGI.. :what: How these guys think they are a "Tesla killer" I do not know. These guys don't have to worry about funding to get started like Tesla did and they are blowing it all on ridiculous concepts, something that costs a lot of money.
And apparently it cant go over anything taller than a marble. With the state of America's roads you will be dancing to the tune of your undercarriage being crumbled and watch the sparks fly.
Have you seen how low the Hennessy C7 Corvette is? It's just the wacky angle of the render that makes it appear so low, there's probably an inch and a half of ground clearance there. A lot of performance cars are being produced around .5-1" lower than their base counterparts. And trust me, they make it over bumps and everything else just fine. The lower Mercedes are on bags or electrically controlled shocks that can raise or lower the car if needed too. [t]http://i.imgur.com/9O7VIIg.jpg[/t]
So it's a design concept, which explains how outrageous the car is. A lot of car manufacturers do this, they make a car that will never be put into production but serves as an example of their design language. [editline]5th January 2016[/editline] Video:
solid, that took the edge off all the concept junk. Plus they gave a proper teaser
I'm not sure a silhouette of a crossover / SUV that was shown for a few frames in a video really counts as a teaser. How would they even do a SUV with those "UFO lines" they said would be part of every car?
solid, that took the edge off all the concept junk. Plus they gave a proper teaser
I haven't had time to watch the video but I hope they're planning on being a more serious contender. Electric super cars are cool, but they might as well be out of the market because they're prohibitively expensive. I'd love to see them unveil a $60-$100k SUV/Sedan.

[2 minute light show flashing all over the still-covered car] he then gave a speech about how they're developing the sports car as an extreme example of what you can do and plan on making blatantly more normal production models. It was a lot more sane than what most were assuming was going on, and it looks way better in reality than it did on that cheapo app
Not bad looking. Now put a throaty >6L V12 in the back coupled to a six speed manual and I'll be interested.
6 speed manual kek
Cool, I don't understand why people are scrutinizing them so hard. I mean yea the concept is ugly as hell, but I'm looking very forward to what they will bring to the EV table.
What's peeving me is that in the end they didn't reveal much of anything, other than they're using Tesla's powertrain design. Like OVB said the end result of them revealing a one off concept is practically moot. Also, anyone else a bit put off by how much they're comparing themselves to other people? Steve Jobs/Apple, Elon Musk/Tesla, and touting their "alliances?" Especially the alliances thing, it sounds like a kid saying how cool their friends/relatives are but won't tell you exactly who they are.
Too bad because if they wanted to make an electric super car, the Rimac Concept is already a better looking car, more practical, and is just as fast (possibly faster, 0-100 in 2.8, with output equivalent of 1088hp). Look at this beauty [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/rimac-concept-one-electric-supercar_100389530_h.jpg[/t]

They probably couldn't have afforded to create something completely wild as a concept car, and make something entirely different as a production car. What they displayed at motor shows was close to what they would be producing. There are no plans as far as we know for this Faraday car to be produced at all; it is just a marketing stunt to generate publicity and to show off an idea of the styling of future Faraday cars and the technology they will have. Like literally 99% of other concept cars. [editline]6th January 2016[/editline] I really feel sorry for people who think that monstrosity in the OP will actually be produced.
