Man who weighs 800 pounds says he was kicked out of hospital for ordering pizza
Holy shit he's big - is it even possible for him to move his leg??
I don't think so.
Enough obesity can lead to orthopedic problems because the body simply can't support that level of weight. Musculoskeletal pain, subsequent disability, and even the risk of rheumatoid arthritis and gout is seen in obese individuals. Not to mention low back pain, which can be pretty disabling depending on the underlying reason(s.)
One would think they would just denied him the pizza, its a waste of money but still.

You can't just force an adult there by their own free will to not eat a pizza. They had no right to deny him it. They did have a right to make him face the consequences for his actions.
You don't get to 880 pounds by being a stupid lazy piece of shit, the sheer amount of calories you'd have to consume to gain weight at 300 pounds and over is well beyond what any normal human would think of consuming. Guy clearly has psychological problems behind this
http://www.jlgh.org/Past-Issues/Volume-4---Issue-4/Behavioral-and-Psychological-Factors-in-Obesity.aspx Here's a good read on the subject
Yeah, honestly, no sympathy for the guy. Like it's terrible to be this heavy but I'm sure he knew better than this.
You have no sympathy for an addict because he gave in to the pressure of his addiction? Come on guys :v:

I'm imagining a parallel universe where a rehab clinic has nearby drug dealers on speed dial available to the patients, and anyone can get their fix delivered right to them. Then when a heroin addict breaks down and pays for a hit, the clinic blames him and kick him out. And nobody has any sympathy for him because drug 'addiction' is just a failure of willpower, don't you know, my 19th-century medical textbook says so.
I don't have much patience for people who blame 'genetics' for being fat while making no effort to control their diet or exercise, but to get to 880lbs requires straight up addiction. And it's not like it's something they can deal with by going cold turkey, they need to face that addiction every day. That's gotta be tough.
No sympathy here. If I'm helping you do anything and you fuck it up, either you're leaving(if it's my place) or I'm leaving(if it's your place).
if you realize its an addiction you should probably not order a pizza lol
Uhh that's how addiction works.

I would assume that because your in a controlled environment that they would control your diet, I don't know how it is in the US but if your treating someone for let's say is addicted to a drug they don't continue to let the patient take the drug while in hospital.
Maybe its different there.
he god what he deserved tbh

Is that for mandatory rehab or voluntary? A lot of voluntary programs you can basically do whatever the fuck you want, just be prepared to be kicked out.

Nah. Its just hospital. Given the situation I'd say it works however I'm sure there are cases here where it hasn't.
violating his care plan by ordering pizza
Ok I know this is a free country, but that's what bulimic people do. That's the whole shtick. If you don't have some radical way to prevent them from ordering pizza, or in some cases even ordering from hospital food trolleys, you're likely wasting time on a patient that will never heal. I can't watch the video at the moment and I read he might actually just be an immature dipshit of some sort, but I've seen footage of people with this type of eating disorder having "their way" at times they were supposed to be help. (The footage was from the UK, not the US)
Serves you right, bullshit that its an addiction its just pure laziness and greed.
I think he's beautiful the way he is :-)
I'd probably be more sympathetic if I hadn't read that he only managed to lose 20 pounds in 80 days. Should have lost way, way more than that.

This, I'd say this one time he cheated his meal plan wasn't the only one.
He is also a complete douchebag who tell tax payers to go fuck themselves "but thanks for the free stuff!"

This guy unless he does a 180 on his life style most lilely won't last very long

While he is a pretty fucked person, it's still very concerning how quick people were to jump on him before anything like this was even brought up.
holy christ what a horrible excuse for a human being
Jesus the responses in this thread are so disproportionately negative.

the subject of the situation plays an important role
we read the article and we see the person & the event and we immediately make positive or negative connotations in our head
a morbidly obese man who couldn't overcome his addiction? while sad, it does not set a good precedent for those who are struggling to go through the same ordeal. his failure(while common) serves as a scapegoat for most normal people to antagonize. it makes it easier to black & white the situation so that we can easily determine it as bad.
does the guy need some serious mental help? probably. i'm still condemning him for failing to stick to his diet though.
Or you can understand that life gets ten times better when you do things in moderation, And you'll stop your self-loathing once you've gotten the slightest bit of discipline in your head to not sit on your ass while you consume water to fill up your stomache because you can't bother to make food because vidya gems.
whoa man just calm down ok he was being pretty unserious, cmon give him a break
wow, watching his youtube channel is...enlightening...about his personality. and how regularly he has been in hospital.
point is, it doesn't really matter how he became that way. yeah addiction is hard, yeah people can make mistakes. but you can't treat someone who isn't looking out for their own wellbeing. it would be like keeping a heroin addict in the clinic when he's sneaking in heroin. and unless it's mandatory treatment, the hospital has no legal right to force him to comply, so all they can do is threaten to (and eventually actually) kick him out and refuse treatment.
if there was a legal method of forcing him to comply with treatment (read "sectioning" for the morbidly obese) then this wouldn't be an issue; he wouldn't be able to order pizza.

People surprised by the hostility this man is getting should really watch this video.
The man is a piece of a shit.
And as sad as this is, people will use this as an excuse to not help people who actually want it and need it and instead they'll just refer to them as another fake-fat guy/gal who leeches off of tax payer money.
Well he wants it and needs it. Hes just an ungrateful fat fuck whos an all around horrible person.

I can see that he's pretty dickish judging by the video and I think it would have been nice if he actually used that help responsibly, but to be fair, it's not particularly his fault that people already have that kind of shitty mindset, to begin with. You'd be better off blaming him for taking advantage of those trying to help him and having a terrible attitude about it than just for not managing to lose weight or setting a decent and successful example of an obese person trying to lose weight.
good job listening
this is like if an addict was kicked out of rehab for calling a dealer ([sp]No respectful rehabilitation center would do this[/sp]) and someone just looked at him and said "well it's your own fault".

Haahahaha wow this thread is a spazzpit
So apparently, the guy in the article can be seen mocking tax payers who pay for his treatment. And also harrasses hospital personnel.
