Most of the teenagers I knew growing up weren't like that. She sounds like a self centered self righteous bitch. People like this grow up continuing to act like this unless something happens to stop it.
you don't get out much do you? almost all teenagers don't like doing chores and talk shit about their parents. only a small fraction of them end up being terrible human beings
all of the people calling this girl a bitch and a cunt and all of that drivel are assholes. for all we know this girl is just like every other teenager
I was never rude to my parents like that, if I had an issue I talked to them not insult them online and try to stop them from seeing it. Very few of my friends were rude to their parents in such a manner and the ones that were did not have very good parents so I can understand it.
Saying it is acceptable for some to be rude and talk behind someones back because of their age is ridiculous. Yes all teens rebel at times and yell at/argue with their parents, very few repeatedly insult their parents in public.
My parents did things very similar. When we used something wrong, and were told not to do something, yet did it again, it was taken away. Being as I grew up in the early 2000's (I'm 22), I didn't have a laptop because my family generally wasn't wealthy and they were still fairly expensive then. I did, however, have a Game Boy. My parents bought it for me for Christmas, and it was made very clear that I was to complete my chores without griping about them. You see, that's a problem CLEARLY shown in the video. Kids EXPECT to be paid for chores. Sliding my legs under the table for dinner was payment enough. I thought it was unfair as a kid, but now I realized that the chores I did then are nowhere NEAR as difficult as the work I do now.
Anyway, going back to the Game Boy. I loved it. Pokemon was of course my favorite. One night, my father told me to wash the dishes after dinner. I told him I'd get around to it, and I went and sat on the couch playing Pokemon. He said as long as I did them in an hour or so, he'd be okay with it. So 3 hours later, dishes were still sitting in the sink. He came in and said, "hand it over." And you never fought with my father, because you got your ass smacked. Yes, corporal punishment was in effect. I was only ever smacked about 5 times throughout my childhood, and it was reserved for only the worst of offenses. Anyway, he said I'd get it back once I did the dishes. I was pissed. I sat there cursing about how unfortunate I was to have such strict parents. He grounded me from it for a week. I threw a fit. Two weeks it became. I finally realized I wasn't going to win. Two weeks later, it got put back into my hands, and I started to play religiously again.
Long behold, stupid me, asked me to take out the garbage, "I'll do it in a bit." "Ok, make sure you get it done in an hour." I didn't do it. He got so pissed off, he came, "Hand it over." I sighed, and gave it to him. "Come with me." I followed him into the kitchen, where he took a kitchen knife out of the drawer. He slammed my precious Game Boy on the cutting board, and slammed the knife through the screen. Pokemon was ruined. The Game Boy was ruined. After that, he said, "Get the garbage out, NOW. Then you're going to go to your room and go to bed." I was in shock. I never cried over it, instead I thought for hours without falling asleep what had happened. I never once told my father, "I'll do it in a bit." or complained again.
Kids today have absolutely no respect. When I was young it was bad, but it got worse. It's GETTING worse. I personally blame technology. You don't see kids outside anymore, you don't see kids getting hurt from climbing trees, etc. Kids are sheltered, in their homes, playing video games, etc. While there are a few decent kids, but the majority of them disobey their parents and don't do shit around the house.
To those saying, "He could have handled it better." Kids don't learn unless you shake them up a bit. We are a society that is SO hell bent on being "concerned and caring" figures, that we've completely lost touch with how to discipline our kids. Everyone keeps telling us, "Don't hit them, don't lay a finger on them. Use your words, but don't be angry with your words!"
I know being as most people on Facepunch are of the "younger" demographic who will completely disagree with me, rate me dumb, whatever. Send your boxes kiddies, because it's true.

I'd hardly call making your bed and unloading laundry for yourself "chores."

boy sure is a good thing I didn't say that then is it
boy sure is a good thing I didn't say that then is it
But you suggested that such behavior is just being an average teenager.
But you suggested that such behavior is just being an average teenager.
because it is...
because it is...
Well then I guess I am glad I was not average in that way. Where I live teens are expected to respect their parents at least while in public. I went to a public high school and I don't remember kids complaining about making their bed, sweeping, or doing dishes.
OK, I get the dads reaction - but shooting the laptop? I don't know how old or what type of specs that laptop had, but in the UK you don't get laptops much cheaper than £350 (with VAT), which is $551.15.
Surely he could have just formatted and sold the laptop if it meant that much to him, instead of putting a hole through several hundred dollars worth of hardware? To me, it seems wasteful, but my opinion.

erm
Of course Sanius rides in on the high horse, arguing against the popular opinion to be cool.
Any who, I thought what this man did was justified, and really just awesome.
The above post should go along with the OP.
I want to see the girls face after watching that video.
all i ever have to do is wash dishes and tidy up the house every once and a while. how ungrateful of her.
Respect has to be earned. If the child doesn't like something she should be allowed to SAY it. It's called free speech.
A little late, but technically, an American citizen under the age of 18 has no 'real' rights, if the parent says so.
The child only has the rights the parents give them, unless the parents die, or the child is emancipated. The only right they can actually have is the right to privacy, and even that can be revoked by a parent.
Respect is earned.
[editline]10th February 2012[/editline]
Just because someone is a biological parent doesn't mean you have to respect them.
You shouldn't have to respect your father if he gets drunk as shit and beats your mother to a pulp every night.
Ok, but this isn't the case. It seems like they're a really well-off family and the kid gets everything she needs.
Usually only spoiled little shits post nasty letters about their parents. The letter was mostly about actually having to help around the house. Someone who gets abused normally does not speak about the abuse or post shit like that on facebook in fear of getting another beating.

Wanna give us proof of your claims?

It's mostly because of the dangers outside. It wasn't mostly the concern about kids getting injuries too. In the viewpoint of a parent, it was about whether you wanted Timmy to play videogames where you know where:
A.) He's safe, won't mess up shit, and stay in the exact position
B.) Get him in the risk of being caught by child rapists and killers. In my childhood, I went outside constantly and was constantly warned about them. I was neeaarly caught by one too, but I rejected to go in his car and took a different route home.
You can't blame the parents for the child rapist paranoia, numerous children are killed/missing constantly due to them.
Good for the father. She seems like a spoiled bitch that is taking everything for granted. Especially, coming from me since I respect my parents 100% for everything they've done for me.

Popular opinions can be wrong, especially when its shared by a bunch of kids on facepunch.

"getting everything you need" does not automatically make you a happy and well-adjusted person. it's obvious that she has a lot of weight on her shoulders with school and everything. trivialize it all you want but it's obvious that the letter she posted on her wall is her venting and crying for help. her parents need to make an active attempt to find out what is troubling her and help her work though it instead of tossing their hands in the air and saying "welp she's just a spoiled bitch."
if you as a parent can't provide for your child's emotional needs, you have failed

People on Facepunch are extremely stupid when it comes to happiness and well-being. They believe that if you have everything, or even something, that you should therefore be happy, but that is certainly not true in any capacity. There are so many things in life that are out of a child's hands that hurt them that its no WONDER some of them get so unhappy, even if they DO have nice things. School is stressful, relationships, chores, parents and LIFE is stressful as whole. You guys, and I mean this directly to everyone who says this girl is an ungrateful bitch, how the fuck can you say that? How can you be so fucking STUPID that you presume you know this girl, her activities, her life, based on a biased video made by an illogically upset father? You call her an ungrateful spoiled bitch because she was venting about her life being stressful?
I can't see why people whine about the fathers actions.
He didn't shoot the bastard child now did he, so what's the big deal?

Life is stressful, deal with it and stop whining about it.

How is he "illogically upset"?? He spent a sizeable chunk of time and money doing something nice FOR HER. and not 24 hours later she shits that disrespectful wad of kilobytes onto the massive shithole that is her facebook news feed. She was disrespectful to everyone that provides for her in almost every way possible just short of spitting in their faces. She fucking deserved to lose that laptop, he just got way creative in taking away.
Today, I had to do the dishes, fold the clothes, pull the weeds, level the dirt in my back yard, and not another fuck was given that day.
Fuck, I'm even starting to enjoy some of the work.

Illogically upset? Erm I think it's fairly reasonable for someone to be upset if their child is bitching about them on the internet on facebook just after you've helped them.
