Well I have came out happily surprised after i read the title as" father shoots daughter for disrespectful facebook post" then saw there was a video....
I imagined the dad runs into the room with a shotgun, pushes his daughter out of her chair to get her out of the way, and blasts the computer to bits.
I totally interpreted it as him walking into the room and blasting the computer.
Shooting the expensive hardware just to prove a point seems retarded to me. Take the laptop away or wipe the harddrive or something. Some people got a buttload of money to throw around it seems... if it's always like this, I can see why the daughter turned out to be this obnoxious.
He already took it away once months ago and the day before he shot it he put some new software on it just for her, as a gift. And she proceeded to post that on Facebook. A gun is a little weird to use for, er, parenting, imo. He should probably have used something else to destroy it. Looking at his other videos, the family is used to firearms, though, so we probably shouldn't be too bothered by that. My father once shot my Extreme Dinosaur action figure with an airgun :( [sp]That was long after I stopped playing with it and it was unrelated to any parenting.[/sp]
Good parenting, spoiled kid. Should have shot the laptop while it was on, though.
Whoever says this is overreacting needs their masculinity renewed.
How can anyone applaud this cunt? She DARED to say something negative about her family and use her free speech rights and her property is DESTROYED? How is this "good parenting"? Good parents don't be immature and destroy people's property for daring to disagree with them. Good parents don't destroy their child's school lives for spreading their opinions. Good parents DON'T DO THIS.

However, I can see where the dad was coming from when he did this.
Do you know the meaning of the term "respect"?
Respect has to be earned. If the child doesn't like something she should be allowed to SAY it. It's called free speech.
Respect has to be earned. If the child doesn't like something she should be allowed to SAY it. It's called free speech.
No it's called being an idiotic immature teenager whining about menial chores that might be enjoyable to actually do.
"henceforth, the world shall haveth one less obnoxious rich psycho bitch on the loose" - jesus christ
Do you know the meaning of the term "respect"?
yeah good parenting is not sitting down and talking with your kids heart to heart, and embracing their emotions, its posting up a gimmicky video of them shooting a laptop (such a respectful punishment) gj you will be a wonderful father
Respect has to be earned. If the child doesn't like something she should be allowed to SAY it. It's called free speech.
You wouldn't like to be insulted by secret after you've done something supposedly nice to them, would you? Did you even watch the video? He probably spent alot of money on her laptop and shit he had to buy for his child.
This is fucking parenting. About damn time.
Respect has to be earned. If the child doesn't like something she should be allowed to SAY it. It's called free speech.
If your parents work to give you a home, food, cell phone, new laptop, etc. then I say they have EARNED respect. This guy obviously worked hard to give her a good life and she complains. There is a difference between free speech and bashing someone online for asking you do do chores. Not to mention how she talked down on the woman who helps clean their house. Too many kids assume they have the RIGHT to have cell phones, computers, money, and internet for nothing. These are privileges and THEY should be EARNED.

Everyone is saying the father is terrible for not going to his daughter and talking - but what about the daughter not going to the father to talk?

Have you ever sat down and been completely open with your parents? It's the individual who has to be at peace for the relationship to be at peace. Clearly she has issues for her to swear/insult so openly towards her close family. A lot of people do that, makes me sick.

I'm sure she didn't discover her lack of a laptop by finding this surprising video on her Facebook.
"I did something supposedly nice so I'm immune from all criticism and nobody can say anything bad about me or I will destroy their property"
You gave me nice things then expect me to carry my fare share without insulting you and others online? What an asshole.
why didn't he just back up any important data and then sell the laptop or something like that rhetorical question
To be fair, there is no mention of the daughter coming to him in the first place about these grievances, instead she just shits on all of them over Facebook. I'm sorry, but I don't buy that he moved out of the house at 15 years old and lived on his own. I'm pretty sure that most apartment buildings don't rent to 15 year olds. [editline]10th February 2012[/editline] could be different where he is, though. I know that none of the places around where I live would.
His daughter sounds like the kind of person I'd hate to be around.
Respect has to be earned. If the child doesn't like something she should be allowed to SAY it. It's called free speech.
The point is, the girl actually didn't say it. She posted the message on her Facebook wall denying the view to her parents. Also, the free speech argument is flawed. Sure, you can say whatever you want, but you can't refuse to take your responsibilities for what you've said if it was retarded, extremely rude or wrong.

I know people who have had bad parents, which is why it pisses me off when kids act like this.
Wow, talk about ungrateful bitch, especially when they bought her computer a day before the incident.
