youre right, he should have used a pump action shotgun instead of a .45
people people. this man shot a fucking laptop because his daughter said something bad about him. i don't even CARE about parenting but this guy is fucking DANGEROUS
edit: and by dangerous i mean locked up in a fucking asylum. i don't even care if this was under the guise of "parenting"
hopefully someday brave new world comes true and children are born without parents (that shoot (computers))
Wow, overreact much?
if this man wants to shoot things because someone said something bad about him he should hop on a time machine and fly back to the wild west
hell in 2012 i can barely believe people still own guns
Alrighty then.
apart from shooting machinery what the fuck do you need a gun for

What people owning guns in a country that has laws to allow it what is this madness!
no huge loss, it was an HP anyways.

just because someone allows something doesn't mean you should do it!
Good intentions, bad execution.
I don't know, it's not like I can change what he did. He's the father, I guess.
Well shooting the laptop was a bit over the top and giving it away to someone who might need it instead of destroying a perfectly fine freshly upgrade piece of equipment would have been a better option, but he wanted to impress other kids by doing this and in the end he's right about the hole respecting your parents and not being a bitch lesson.
The girl is finding doing 2-minutes chores abusive, I doubt her parents ever considered abusing her in any way.
boom, you don't know dick about the context so don't make assumptions one way or the other

Dude I am globally against the right to bear arms with little regards on who you are and what you did before and even I am not that over the top when it comes to reacting.
Chill the hell out, he shot the laptop down because he wanted to destroy it and using his gun was the easiest way to do so, if he didn't have a gun he would have used a pickaxe or an axe instead, who gives a crap.

If you don't like a small assumption like one of those you can just ignore them

I'm just saying whole aggressive arguments have broken out in this thread with people saying 'I bet the daughter...' or 'The father probably...' which means fuck all and doesn't contribute to anything other than speculative shitstorms where people get banned. Overall I think of myself as a fairly affable and loving person, and I always think it sucks when people get banned because they've become so aggressively entrenched in their own speculative opinions about what is essentially a non-issue
peeps need to chill essentially. Not you specifically, you're nowhere near as bad as some of the comments in here.
They're KIDS. They're SUPPOSED to run around and play (and be obnoxious little shits to the casual observer - to be honest, I can't stand kids, but I don't blame them or the parents). That's CHILDHOOD. Let them have it.
Talking won't change that because kids aren't that intelligent yet. So let's wait for them to grow up a bit, rather than intimidate them (which they already can associate with their actions) and potentially scar them for something that's completely normal, natural and okay for someone that age.
You can't tell me the 14 and 18 year olds run and scream in public, I've *never* seen anyone over the age of 12 done that.
There's a reason we don't tell children to get their own house and job, they haven't developed enough yet.
And what's the lesson? Don't complain about your state of living, because if you do, it'll get worse? Accept whatever you have, never be unsatisfied?
GREAT.
As a volunteer with my old scout troop I can tell you kids are a lot more intelligent than you give them credit for and many kids are happy and respectful at a young age. Not all kids who are punished get angry at the world and become bad people, in fact many people such as my self were punished and turned out better for it.
Grounding/punishing never made me assume I should accept any "bad state of living" it taught me that I am lucky to have what I have and that if I want better things I have to be proactive and go and get it.
I grew up lower middle class (basically poor but without government aid) and I was punished at times as a child. I did not become an asshole who hates the world; I became an eagle scout, got almost a full ride into college, and now at the age of 18 own my own land.
Everyone needs to stop acting like kids should never be held responsible for their actions.

As someone with a mother that has a career in taking care of young children, I can tell you that even 2-3 year old children understand and comprehend what you mean- Perhaps not on the complex level of things, but they realize what is being spoken to them.
Think about this for a little while. If you had a friend, who you paid for his living, his food, his house, his laptop, and everything he "owns", and he then to bitch about how you make him do some chores to all of this friends, even after you talked to him about how it's stupid and ungrateful, would you still provide your services for him? Of course you fucking wouldn't. You would probably kick him out. But because he's her father, he can't do that, so he resorts to punishing her for what she did.
"But Glorbo, this is just regular teen angst and-" Oh shut up. This whole "teen angst" and "teenage rebellion" stuff is first-world bullshit that was invented by parents who are too lazy to keep tabs on what their kids are doing, in order to to divert blame from their shitty parenting. "Oh, it's obviously not me, who's not trying to get my daughter to stop drinking alcohol and dressing like a slut! This is just good ol' fashioned teenage angst!"

By your logic, the whole of texas needs to be locked up in an asylum.
Get real.
By that logic, you're saying that literally everyone in Texas is a maniac.
Get real.
Actually he has a point, Moupi clearly stated that for him every single man owning a gun needs to be locked in an Asylum.
I know not everyone owns a gun in Texas but the state is kinda well known for being one of the most well armed states of the entire country, so he still has a point.
She's gonna have quite the difficulty telling her reaction on the internet without access to the internet.
Not if she uses school computers.
Most schools have facebook blocked, even though they have a Facebook page. "Login on to our Facebook page!" *logs on*
"This website has been blocked by {insert blocking software here}"

Really? Not here in Finland. Didn't know that.

no
what i'm saying is that there is no reason to own a gun in 2012 and that you can't be mentally sane if you decide to destroy a laptop by shooting it. if he truly wanted it to be destroyed, he could have thrown it off a cliff or burn it rather than possibly get himself in trouble
there is no reason to own a gun in 2012
Wow.
Oh how I wish he was the father of all those kids who made those comments on christmas on how they didn't get a car or whatever...
x1 winner, would probably be a bitch to have a father like that, but honestly, you would thank him later in life.
I think he should have just sold the laptop instead of trashing it but this works too.

You know, before having an opinion there's this funny thing called considering the pros and cons that you're supposed to do in your own little noggin. Things are not black and white and until you realize that and decide to get yourself an opinion more mature than "X IS BAD Y IS GOOD", I suggest you keep your mouth shut and your presence discrete on debates.
two posts up was just faster then me XD by 29 min

I would have sold it, I have too much respect for technology to do something like that. *hugs laptop*
Basically the summary of this situation is
Daughter is stressed
Daughter vents about stressors in her life, parents being one of them
Father gets upset that he's criticized and destroys daughter's favorite possession
Internet mad
That's what they bitch gets for being stressed and...dear god...criticizing her parents!

There's a difference between criticizing your parents and demanding money off them for basic 2 minutes chores you have to do anyway.
There is also a difference between questioning your parents and insulting them behind their back.
Bahaha what a terrible fucking parent.
Figure he just wanted an excuse to shoot at something, the hillbilly goon.
this, ladies and gentlemen, is why we should bring back the paddle in schools.
