To everyone saying "why didn't he just hide the laptop or sell it?": the point of shooting it was to shock his daughter and punish her by destroying something she obviously was attached too.
He posted it on that facebook wall so I guess it's also to give a lesson to the other kids, very much like that guy who spanked his nephew who was acting all gangsta on his facebook and posted the video on his wall.
before watching the video, I thought that this would be some hick amurrken daddeh being retarded about 'fairncy technawlogee"
after watching the video, I think I may have my nominee for worst father of existance
if I was that girl, i'd probably just go and live with one of my friends and tell the parents to stick it up their ass
sure, flame the moderator.

what the people who use Britain as an example don't know because they don't bother to look beyond what suits them is that in that time period Britain changed the way crime was counted. Crime didn't increase, it was simply reported better.
So rebel
that graph doesn't change the fact that violent crime had steadily gone down so to say that the firearms act of 1997 increased crime is a little irrelevant. my graph is more reliable than your graph when it comes to violent crime anyway.
in fact not that many guns were decreased because it only affected renewals which cycle every five years. the real reason we experienced more murder during that era was because of increased drug trafficking, it had zero to do with the amount of people who had guns.

I bet you have the balls to do that.
No matter how much you hate your parents, you still love them and are bound to abide by their rule.
I'm sorry but they let you live already for 15 years (in the girls case), and because you couldn't handle a couple responsibilities you fuck off to live with a "friend" (the girl is only 15, her "friends" probably live with their parents too)?
I would like to see where you go in life, because if you cannot accept responsibility to reach life, you will be living in the slums for the next 100 years... If you actually watched the whole video, she has done a stunt like this before, of which insults her parents and her family name. That child deserves every punishment possible, it's wrong to defy and lie to your elders.

Not saying you're wrong, you are very right about the fact that the way crimes were counted changed that time too.
But I personally think it's stupid to ban gun ownership as a whole, because whenever somewhere something was completely BANNED like liquor or weapons, the black market has gone completely bonkers and the amount of illegal possessions per individual is logically higher.
You can only make something harder to obtain, but you can never completely ban something. If people want a gun, they will get a gun and if they use that gun to do a crime or protect themselves from a crime, it's up to them to decide and there's nothing the government can do about it.

I'm not sure but did you just post a graph claiming that crime shot up because of guns?
Cause you do know that was a spike because of Harold Shipman, man it even says on the graph. Please tell me you didn't use that graph as an example of "look everyone was killing each other then because of this law!" cause they weren't.
But hey man I've had 4 hours sleep and I'm wired on two cans of monster and sleep deprived so hey who know's I could be miles off v:v:v

That the homicide rate and, yes, but that spike wasn't the thing I wanted to show. I just wanted to shot that the homicide rate raised quite significantly after the year 2000.

attributable to the rise in drug crime, not to the small decrease in gun ownership.
Don't be a fucking idiot.
Whenever someone has tried to push some retarded gun law through the system that prevents a civilian to carry or even OWN a gun for SAFETY MEASURE, the murder and crime rates have skyrocketed.
If "normal" murder rate would be like 100 people per year and after the gun law has restricted you from defending yourself the rates climb to lets say 300 - 400 murders per year, I would say that that is a pretty expensive law.
Take Britain for example. In the early 2000, Britain got a new gun-control law that was supposed to lower the rates of violent crime. The effects were completely opposite.
The thing the politicians and anti-gun activists always fail to see is that if the criminal can mug and kill a person without any risk of putting his own life on the line, of course there is a bigger possibility of such an event to happen. The criminal knows that it's not legal for a civilian to carry a gun so what's the risk of mugging an old lady, because she doesn't have any means to fight back.
If the criminal couldn't be sure if that old lady is packing a .44 magnum under her coat, the possibility of a crime happening is dramatically lower, because will that criminal take a risk that will probably cost him his own life?
Strict gun laws leave law-abiding citizens at the mercy of criminals who are confident that their victims have neither the means nor the legal right to resist them.
Get real.
Uh, that's because a country like America is already too far gone with the gun culture. You're already pretty fucked.
Meanwhile in other countries that never had the second amendment, and have strict gun control, the gun related deaths remain very low.
Another example of somebody who was basically raised to think WE SHOULD HAVE GUNS GUNS PROTECT US - And the saddest part of the story is that that might actually be sort of true - but only if you live in America.
Strict gun laws don't "leave law-abiding citizens at the mercy of criminals who are confident that their victims have neither the means nor the legal right to resist them" anywhere else. Except America. Basically what I'm saying is that your forefathers completely fucked over your country in the long run with the second amendment. They weren't all wise, all powerful beings who's every word and law is gospel. They're a bunch of dudes who fucked up.

Gun crime's rare here in the UK man, if it ever happens it's plastered all over the news, last major thing I heard was someone up in the north of scotland was having gun parts/zip gun parts shipped to them piece by piece and the guy was caught and arrested for intent to create a deadly weapon (or whatever the charge is) with intention to use it.

America is different, yes, not denying that, but the little voice in peoples heads that say "GUNS ARE BAD MMKAY!" are not any better than the people who are all fore guns.
Here in Finland we used to have a pretty logical gun-control system, but after some fucked up nutcase shoots up his school, everything went to shit. The politicians decided that guns are VERY bad thing to have! While they were running for a new gun-control law, the real reason for the school shooting was left into the shadow. That reason being the police officer who gave that kid permission to own a gun despite the fact the he wasn't suitable to own one. But this wasn't relevant to the politicians, they just wanted the guns BANNED!
Now, Finland has a very old hunting culture and there are very large quantity of guns here despite the quite moderate population. Statistically 30 people from 100 owns a weapon of some sort. Many people here have a shooting as a HOBBY. Like going to the range and firing a few shots for fun, there can't be anything bad in that can there?
The new gun-control law is killing this hobby for people, because the regulations are so fucking ridiculous that it's nearly impossible for someone, who has never owned a gun before, to get one legally.
I can't see how people see this as a fair solution when the problem really was an officer that wasn't doing what he was supposed to.

It wasn't about the value of money.
The whole idea with his actions is to teach her that her actions have consequences and she can't fuck around how she sees fit.

Yeah I know, I was just responding to Milkie's post.
If he paid for it she has no right to complain as far as I care.
bad parenting
You can't force a teenager to sit down and talk. Have you ever sat down and been completely open with your parents?

Sorry for really late post, but I always tried this, It never worked because my dad was high-tempered and got pissed off really quick.
Sometimes It's not the teenager at fault.
A wise man. Too bad most parents are such a dumb fucks that don't care about what their kids do. This got me to stop visiting facebook because it's flooded with such idiotic rebelious teens that are full of shit and disrespect everyone who's different than them.
Brilliant.
