I give up, I'm shamanist and I believe this is completely and terribly wrong. The only reason all you neckbeard athiest folk get so excited about this is because you want to fly around in spaceships with your artificial minds fucking asari or something. Does anyone want to explain how being a robot is good.
And now YOU'RE being unreasonable. Yes there are... concerns about the technology. It's not like transhumanism is all rainbows and babies burping out butterflies, there'd be problems with the technology, it would create MASSIVE social and economical divides, it could, if done incorrectly, destroy our species (you'd have idiots too far on EITHER end of the pro/anti transhumanism scale wanting to kill off the other side). There are pros to it, however, even if there are also cons.

Bionic limbs are the next step, i don't see what's so wrong with them.
Immortality
Why would you ever want that.. That would be torture And idk, I'm taking this so seriously because I know it is going to happen, as in we will be more robot than human in the near future at this rate, making breakthroughs every day, and hundreds of organizations are made just to try and do it.

I really don't see the problem, a person is a person no matter what body they are in. This "you're not human if your body isn't made of flesh" kind of thinking is the same sort of basis racism is built on.
I tell myself i'll have my brain put in a robotic body or they'll stop aging before I die. So I don't worry about that dying business. i'm glad stuff like this reinforces my filthy lies.

One of my major concerns about robotic limbs and body parts is that, unless they can be accurately made to replicate the FEEL of a human body things like sex, or simply touching someone you love or care about won't really feel the same anymore. I mean, call me crude but... I love boobies. I'm never gonna fucking deny that. Tits are awesome. I like to squeeze them and play with them when I'm making sweet sweet love to my girlfriend. A cold, metal exterior would completely ruin that for me.
I'm not going to try to be a pseudo scientist, I just don't think it's morally correct, altering our minds and stuff. (Not talking about this article in particular, but it is a step toward cyborgs and trans humanism)
I just don't think it's morally correct, altering our minds and stuff.
Who's talking about altering minds (rather than bodies), and what's not morally correct about it?
I just don't think it's morally correct, altering our minds and stuff.
why let's find the reason you think like this
Because I'm shamanist and this is my opinion
I give up, I'm shamanist and I believe this is completely and terribly wrong.
You seriously mentioned sex before being able to touch stuff :v:
Don't try to psychoanalyse me! Generally the majority of the physical contact I make with another human being (except for a hug or a handshake (or things like a friendly punch on the shoulder or something) is... well... sex (it's also the one piece of physical contact that has more parts of the body touching than any other form of contact). So... it seems to me that something like sex would be the most drastically changed thing (in terms of physical contact) that you'd experience.
Who's talking about altering minds (rather than bodies), and what's not morally correct about it?
And for that matter, what exactly qualifies as "morally correct"? And the interesting thing about this question is, no matter how you answer it, it will always make the opposing party look racist. Food for thought.
Because I'm shamanist and this is my opinion
so is there any logical reasoning behind being a shamanist, or having this opinion
Living a normal life Living an immortal life able to do anything at the slightest of ease I think the only reason humans are here is to find out what happens when we die. And experience the highs lows and triumph as normal human life.
Living a normal life Living an immortal life able to do anything at the slightest of ease I think the only reason humans are here is to find out what happens when we die. And experience the highs lows and triumph as normal human life.
what if nothing happens when you die or if you just become a new human and forget everything pretty fucking pointless quest then isn't it
Living a normal life Living an immortal life able to do anything at the slightest of ease
where's the downside of the second one
I think the only reason humans are here is to find out what happens when we die. And experience the highs lows and triumph as normal human life.
well let's experience the highs lows and triumphs better, more efficiently and longer. If we only exist to find out what happens when we die, can't we just cut out the life part?
what if nothing happens when you die or if you just become a new human and forget everything pretty fucking pointless quest then isn't it
Please, PLEASE let's not turn this into a religious debate. If we're gonna debate the ethics of transhumanism I'd like the debate to be around something legitimate like sociological divide, the aforementioned lack of squishy boobies (yes, dammit! I consider that a serious issue!), the worry of rejection, the ability for your 'augmentations' to be controlled from external sources, etc, etc. Let's not let this devolve into a case of: "IT'S WRONG BECAUSE GOD SAID SO!" "YOU'RE AN IDIOT!"
Because I'm shamanist and this is my opinion
Well, thanks to you I now think shamanists suck. Cyborg =/= robot. Cyborg is a being with biological and mechanical/electrical parts. In the case of humans, it's usually at least human brain with electronical parts. So you don't become an emotionless, cold being.

sorry Carbo but you are the stupidest poster of the week you will not even be alive until we develop that shit you're talking about so why don't you go talk to the spirits or something
sorry Carbo but you are the stupidest poster of the week you will not even be alive until we develop that shit you're talking about so why don't you go talk to the spirits or something
stupidest ? Nevertheless Carbo you are still fucking retarded. Imagine losing your leg in an accident, you would be able to get a prosthetic leg what would function like a real one. Isn't that, you know. A good thing ?
stupidest ?
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/stupidest it's a perfectly fine word according to many sources
Because I'm shamanist and this is my opinion
Your opinion is uneducated
I think the only reason humans are here is to find out what happens when we die.
Since we can't actually find out until we die, you're pretty much saying the point of life is to die. Fantastic outlook there buddy.
Fucking transhumanism sickens me, It's just not right and so much shit can and will go wrong.
Carbo never asked for this
I give up, I'm shamanist and I believe this is completely and terribly wrong.
Dude, can you drop me a windfury totem?
