SGA is going to end at season 6!? SIX SEASONS!? Noo! I want to see a full 5 more seasons! :crying:
Atlantis should not be axed, who ever said it's a good idea should be fucking shot. SG - 1, it ran it's course and ran out of enemys. But atlantis had so much potential and had some great storylines going and then they go and fuck it up, fortuantly it will do an SG-1 and release dvd films but it just won't be the same. Universe, i think it's going down the voyager road, but i think it will be done better, we got ages till they decide weither or not to start making it so we'll just wait and see.

This is great and all, but where's Farscape?! :argh:
Ship = cliche Logo sucks. Great.
Since Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper are still in charge I severely doubt this will fail, the question is rather will it live up to it's predecessors?
I guess they'll be heading to other planets, this time, only allowing themselves to had on their ship without stargates. Lol, I don't know, I only predict it may fail only for choosing crappy actors to play the characters. I mean, I rather see more system lords, and what other adventurers we'll see encounter whoever. I bet there will be Furlings(lol furries), G'ould, Ancients(like Atlantis), Asguard(Whoever is left, maybe we'll find the original planet whilst they came). The Replicators are still somewhat around. I'm sure, as long as the seasons don't go too far, to keep the balance. But this Stargate Altantis was a likely spinoff. This is sure of another standalone show. Maybe it will include old characters making appearances. I wanna see Hera or any other false god ending up appearing.
That ship is supposed to be of Ancient design, but the ship in those pictures doesn't look very Ancient-y.
What?. It doesn't matter if they look like what you think it looks like and how it's made that way. Only concept art, it might change though. It was part of a ancient experiment by the way, so the ancients were pretty well advanced.
Notice how most of the cast is in their early twenties?
Either that's fake or i'm saying hell no to this series... christ... Edit: Also just looking back up the list, stargate atlantis isn't that good, it dosn't even compare to stargate SG-1, even after O'neil left it was still so much better.
I miss teal'c
Indeed.
Teal'c owned the show.

They imagined what it would b like if they were young and that was the result. There was also a 'Team America' style puppet skit. It was a funny episode.
Hey, a new series. I might just watch it. I would watch SG1 or atlantis or something, but the large ammount of episodes put me off. If it's recent I'll watch it.
I know the guy who assistant-edited Alantis for two seasons and a guy who acted in a few episodes of SG-1. :science: Other than that, I kinda really want to get into this series. Should I start with SG-1?
That ship is supposed to be of Ancient design, but the ship in those pictures doesn't look very Ancient-y.
Well ancient architecture and design vary from galaxy to galaxy. Look at the milky way ancient designs and then look at the Lantian designs. Clearly very different.

Still possible to start by watching Atlantis, but I personally think SG-1 is a bit better, I guess since I've watched it a lot more, I love both series though :D. A lot of episodes to watch too. I'm tempted to watch some old SG-1 episodes now. :v:
Should I start with SG-1?
It certainly helps the story but the new series are not that difficult to get in to.
Indeed.

I would watch SG1 or atlantis or something, but the large ammount of episodes put me off.
Go and get the first season of SG1 from netflix or from your local media renting establishment, It's superior to the sub par content you'll find on TV these days. The first episode also has a nude scene :q:

Damn, they're ending Atlantis after season 6? That's just not right... hopefully they will start bringing out direct-to-dvd movies of Atlantis as well like they did with SG1 but it just won't be the same... And I agree, I miss the SG1 team. Especially O'Neil and Teal'c. [ontopic?] In any case, from what I can tell, this doesn't work with SB3 things. Is there any chance and update will be coming out for this, and do you have an ETA for it? [/ontopic?]
Damn, they're ending Atlantis after season 6? That's just not right...
Season 5 you mean. :'(
I think i might have an idea of who the new leader will be, there was a young-ish SG Team leader who sort of reminded me of a younger Jack O'neill. I knew Jack was going to leave SG-1 and i kind of hoped he would be the new SG-1 Leader. It was from the episode where we were introduced to the Goa'uld version of the malp and an SG Team got stranded off-world and SG-1 had to go gelp them, (A pretty vage description I know!). I'll see if I can find a picture and get back to you guys!
Stargate doesn't need epic space battles period. It needs more of the humor and one-liners of O'Neil.
I disagree, we don't need epic space battles over and over again, but every now and then is good. Atlantis we coped without a ship for a whole season, then for the next 2 we had the Daedalus with the rail guns, and in Season 4 we get something else? (forget the spoiler tags I'll just be of no help to those who don't know what I'm talking about) in All My Sins Be Remember'd. One in 4 seasons seemed like enough. but lets not limit ourselves, Early season 3 wasn't bad either.
Damn, they're ending Atlantis after season 6? [/ontopic?]
The info copied and pasted into the Opening Post, was from Gateworld.net, and that information was there before Atlantis was set to end at 5 seasons. There were plans for a 6th season earlier this year.
Good point, which galaxy has the most advanced stargates? It would be the Pegasus galaxy wouldn't it? Those ones being newer and all.
No I think those were the older ones. Because the Ancient Originated or at least they were at Pegasus before they went to the milky way. And planted Stargate so people could not only fight wars with each other on a planet, but in the whole galaxy. Then they moved or escaped to the milky way because they fucked up so bad with a insect experiment gone wrong (Wraith) And started planting Stargates over there. This whole series is build upon failures. What did stargates accomplish? Let's sum it up for what I can remember: In Atlantis Mckay activated the Replicators again with an excuse that comes down to: " Oops wrong button". Followed by Millions of death because the replicators wanted to exterminate the Wraith feeding sources. Which is dumb actually because the only reason to fight the Wraith is to keep those people safe. Mckay blew up a Solar system. They woke up the Wraith resulting in Millions of people beeing feed on. last week episode: Oh my god guyz a ship has come for us let's go in there, oh the light starts to flcker and someone says : "what's that" That doesn't remind me of a horror movie cliche at all and I still send my marines on their own to search the ship for god knows what. Still an awesome show though Seriously these guys fuck shit up badly, if they want to save the galaxy they should kill themselves. (plot twist for the atlantis movie perhaps?)
Yes they were in pegasus first, then some of the lantians moved to The Milkyway. (Meanwile the others at home was probably busy upgrading the original stargates :3) Then at some point the Lantians in The Milkyway returned home (after having "seeded new humans" and eventually ascended with the rest of the Lantians in Pegasus. Which leads to the conclusion: The Pegasus Stargates are the most advanced. I'm not gonna comment on the rest of the post, because that would cause a major debat, which i'm not in the mood for right now... (Maybe some other time ;)) Let me just ask you to think of all the mistakes humans have made over the years on EARTH the planet we now best? Imagine how much damage we could do in a place we knew virtually nothing about... Not trying to be mean or anything, and if i made a mistake, do correct me... :) Edit: Oh who am i kidding i can't help myself :( :D
Seriously these guys fuck shit up badly, if they want to save the galaxy they should kill themselves. (plot twist for the atlantis movie perhaps?)
Yes they fucked up... But they fixed almost every mistake they made and they have almost cleared out The Wraith, while being very close to "curing" the rest of them, and has successfully killed (/disasembled :P) the Pegasus replicators (Whom would have eventually caused a problem for the inhabitants of Pegasus anyways)
Clichéd characters hooray!
McKay dies. His hair next week, what a wonderful plot twist.
First Blood Lord That is a short mick take from a previous episode of SG1 so no need to worry there...! And i from what i can tell the general idea of the series is that the ship is accessed from the Stargate when they find a way to dial to it. Then the team they send gets stranded on the ship. It is an ancient ship that travels around the UNIVERSE placing Stargates on new planets... The general gist of the show will be that they try to find a way home. They will visit planets for short amounts of time whenever they find one but it will always be a race to explore the planet then get back to the ship before it leaves as it is on a preset automated course. It will feature more space battles than previously seen in either SG1 or SGA. Hope that helps... Also i am also very disappointed about there will not being any returning characters and hope the new ones are not to similar as that will just feel like a remake of SG1 or SGA... However a lot of the cast from SGA and SG1 has already moved on sadly... for example Amanda Tapping, Samantha Carter SG1 and a few others from SGA, have already joined a new Scf-Fi tv series called Sanctuary... Also the MMORPG is a totally separate thing called Stargate Worlds and will be entering the open beat stages in early 2009.
* Eli Hitchcock – A "total slacker" in his early twenties and an "utter genius" in mathematics, computers and other fields. He is a social outcast with an "acerbic sense of humor", and lacks confidence in his intelligence. The character breakdown compares him to "Matt Damon's character from Good Will Hunting with a little Jack Black thrown in".
do i see a new Rodney Mckay?
* Lt. Jared Nash – A skilled and well-trained Junior SGC member in his early twenties who is "mentally unprepared for the urgency of the situation" aboard the ship.
I think maybe he is one of those young lieutenants that was traind by SG-1 in the episode Proving Ground
