I just hope they don't bring in any aliens into the SG team, it just doesn't fit our fear mongering society.
The character breakdown mentioned:
* Colonel Everett Young – Described as "40's [sic] handsome, capable, former SG team leader" who is "like the Jack O'Neill of ten years ago", yet with sharper edges. At the beginning of Stargate Universe, he has been married for two years and is the temporary commander of a secret off-world base.
* Tamara Jon – An SGC field medic in her early twenties with off-world experience. She has a modest background, yet is "beautiful, tough, smart, capable." At the beginning of the series, she is overwhelmed by the lack of medical knowledge, experience, medicine and supplies aboard the ship.
* Chloe Carpenter – A "stunning and sexy" daughter of a US Senator around her twenties, whose character is tested "after her father's tragic death and the dire circumstances of being trapped on a spaceship".
* Eli Hitchcock – A "total slacker" in his early twenties and an "utter genius" in mathematics, computers and other fields. He is a social outcast with an "acerbic sense of humor", and lacks confidence in his intelligence. The character breakdown compares him to "Matt Damon's character from Good Will Hunting with a little Jack Black thrown in".
* Lt. Jared Nash (since renamed to Scott) – A skilled and well-trained Junior SGC member in his early twenties who is "mentally unprepared for the urgency of the situation" aboard the ship.
* Ron "Psycho" Stasiak – A "big, strong, silent" marine aged 20 with a mysterious past who lacks control over his temper in non-combat situations. The character breakdown compares him to Eric Bana's character "Hoot" in Black Hawk Down.

Tldr, guys.
Err, did you have to?
McKay: Oops, wrong button.
I love stargate space battles, but it wouldn't be Stargate if it doesn't include lots of stargatey goodness and planets. Personally I think Stargate Atlantis struck a good line between space and planets.
Lets just hope we don't end up with something similar to Startrek.
Yeah we need some kind of show that brings new things to the Stargate franchise without ruining everything good about SG:1 and SG:A! Thats one reason I was disapointed that no characters from SG:A and SG:1 will be in it, apart from a few SG:1 members in the first episode or two apparently....
For me, the stargate series went downhill after SG1 ended. :(

Yeah but SG-1 went downhill after O'Neill left IMO

Agreed.

I realised the bump. I thought it was about the spoilers.

In many ways it did! It was no longer the good old Stargate that we had enjoyed so many seasons of.... And definitly the passing of Don S Davis was a great loss as I felt, try as he may, Beau Bridges was never as good, although he did have his moments!
However personally I think that the later seasons of SG:1 were interesting and kinda had a refreshing feel to them!
Teal'c owned the show.
Indeed.
Also, I just noticed how old this thread is. Can't wait for the series to premiere this fall.

I hated the last two seasons of SG1 because they literally turned it into Farscape. Ben Browder ruined the series for me.
Damn it guise. You made me go all nostalgia'd. I loved Stargate SG1 and I wish it could have kept airing new episodes forever without the characters ever growing older.
if we will not see O´Neil again, the series will not be the same.
(in memory of O´Neil)
Stargate without O' Niel is like an Oreo without the cream.
Also, Stargate: Universe? More like Stargate: Voyager, amirite?
Stargate: Stardate 2012, these are the voyages of Universe, blah blah blah.
I'm sure they'll just use the ship to go on planets, and have a amount of time before it leaves. But in some episodes, I bet two or three team-mates get stranded.

Didn't feel like Farscape at all to me but I did nerdgasm when I saw Ben Browder and Claudia Black together again.
I can't really say I have any faith in the new series, it looks and sounds pretty terrible.
A Voyager type show wouldn't really work that great with Stargate.
Well they'll have limited time in the ship and on planets.
Bahahahaha, if that video is real, I'm watching this just for kicks; it'll never rival SG1 or Atlantis, but it may rival just about every poor comedy effort Paramount have put out over the last decade.
I give you a video of the Destiny gate SPINNING!!!

SG-1 without Jack O'Neill was like an Oreo without the cream.
Don't judge the series till it comes out, its stupid to do that.
Oh shit! I like the new gate.
I saw a trailer many times on Sci-Fi channel. When I first saw it, It made it look like it was Battlestar Galactica. And not sure why, I thought I saw a actor from that same show. Black guy, I'm sure of it. If not.... :gun:
Oh it's got that guy from Superbad. Might....be good. Or not.
How do the good guys not win immediately? THEY HAVE FUCKING MACGYVER!!!
