Just got done watching the pilot. The show is way more darker than the other 2. The first episode was pretty good, it even had the original cast guest star.

It aired already here in Canada, I guess you don't get it the same time as us. It felt a little bit like Battle Star Galactica mixed with Star Trek Voyager, however it still had the Stargate feel to the whole thing. I personally thought it was better than Atlantis but we still have to wait and see. They took the show in a whole new direction, the CGI looks much better and the designs of the technology look more realistic, the cast is also really good. I currently rate SG1 as the best, with Universe coming in second and Atlantis in third. Edit: We also got a special behind the scenes look at the show after it aired with all of the cast commenting and telling us whats next...

It seems like Battlestar Galactica and Stargate Atlantis had a baby but not in a bad way. This one seems much more darker and grimmer compared to its counter parts where in the other series everything seems bright and shiny. Its a nice change I fucking hated that smug ass scientist that thinks he super important. I just want to punch him in the face

so far it was alright now im watchin and its not like sga or sg1 it kinda sucks.. they think this will win over new fans it wont it will loose die hard fans like me and the rest no one wants a battle star galatica feel eww more gritty more drama no we want space battles sheilds citys that fly and so on...

Well I missed the first episode so if it is as good as you guys say it is, I guess I'll have to wait for re-runs.

They also said they want to take the show in a new direction... Who wants to see the same thing all of the time? no they actually changed it to bring in younger audiances and this is what they want acording to mgm. id prefer they stayed like sga or sg1 and expanded on atlantis you know move in sucession..

I mean, I haven't seen universe yet so I don't know, but you just seem to dislike it because it is different, while change can be bad, it can also be very good sometimes.

The show could never match up with SG1, it is going to get one movie (possibly) but SG1 got three. Atlantis just didn't have the feel of danger and realism that SG1 had because it wasn't on Earth, and the characters never took anything seriously.
