Argument A: Gay marriage is unacceptable and should be hidden from public view. Gay marriage leads to adopted children, adopted children lead to (haha u hav 2 dads) Ergo, gay marriage is unacceptable. Counterpoint A: Gay marriage would be acceptable if people were used to it. If we legalized gay marriage, people would get used to it in some time. Hiding it from people does nothing to help. repeat
The gaining of rights is a long winded process because our society is ass-backwards.
I believe in gay marriage just for the principle of freedom, however I consider myself a conservative republican. I don't believe that religion, or any real campaigning affects the outcome of a vote; all it does it make people feel good about themselves. I believe the gays themselves; or rather the 2% radicals are what keeps a majority of states gay-free. (lol oxymoron) What really influences a person's vote is personal experience. Most people are neutral in just about every matter. Most people don't bother to vote. Our voter turnout is the lowest % in any state that allows democratic choice. Now imagine a common guy Bob who is walking home from work. Then a truck filled with half naked flamboyant males start shaking their asses at Bob under the guise of spreading "gay awareness". Its going to be hard for Bob not to be angry at the gays, and in turn vote against them. But of course, most of the gays are not like the ones in the truck. Unfortunately Bob now thinks all gays are like the ones in the truck. :/
Since when was I gay?
wait arent all homophobic gop activists gay? like a senator with a bathroom stall glory hole
wait arent all homophobic gop activists gay?
yeah, but it's not a bad thing
Unfortunately everyone has a different Idea on how to improve it, some being the polar opposite of others And biologically speaking, how can they have children with out having heterosexual sex? The sperm always comes from the male and the egg from the female.
I completely agree. Infertile people shouldn't be allowed to get married. It's clearly a message from god, if they can't have children they shouldn't be together.
wait arent all homophobic gop activists gay? like a senator with a bathroom stall glory hole
I'm not a homophobic activist either.

the absolute saddest thing is that those mainers who oppose gay marriage will probably end up dying from a preventable disease because they can't afford their healthcare
Honestly, we live in a country where liberal leaders can't even take a piss without right-wing media and Fox News spewing out daily "OBAMA CREATING COMMUNIST NATION BY [insert action here]" three-hour long broadcasts. So the issue of gay marriage will never be resolved with a liberal in office because the right would just brainwash their zombies into believing that allowing gay marriage is the end of America. If there's a conservative in office, they'd never in a million years approve gay marriage. Fucking two-party politics :sigh:
this is why the world is so over fucking populated. idiots are oppressing nature's biological population control. let them marry, jesus christ.
Hur hur hur hur. -wide, exaggerated clap- [editline]07:50PM[/editline] Because look what religion does for humanity.
It built Most of Europe and the USA, doesn't seem so bad...
What? That's not even the issue here, if the kid ends up being gay that's not a problem at all. My point is that the kid would be endlessly tormented for his situation by others. He'd end up having no/very few friends, he wouldn't have a normal social life, he'd probably be discriminated against at school, and all sorts of horrible things would happen to him. If society can grow up and accept that gay people aren't bad, then I'm all for gay adoption/in-vitro/etc. However, society is extremely intolerant of gays at this point, so no matter how competent and loving the parents are it would end up being too harmful to the kid's development.
Same could be said for single parents, but society has grown used to that.
It built Most of Europe and the USA, doesn't seem so bad...
He was probably referring to the Crusades, suicide bombings, etc.
Just because you're the majority doesn't make it right that you take away rights from others that you have.
According to the way the democracy works, the majority does have the right to do so.
Marriage is a holy union, or at least it used to be =/. I say let them be together in life, as husband/husband and wife/wife, but not under marriage. And unholy union of sorts should calm everyone down if you ask me, not a marriage so to speak, but their own partnership. I think what gets most religious people, like myself, is the fact that marriage is define to be for a man and a woman, so if we avoid marriage so to speak, we avoid a major conflict. But thats just my thoughts.
marriage was created long before your cult of choice made it a tenant sorry dude your argument is really dumb
I'm just saying, I've always had it defined to me as a holy union. But I live in an area that is still part of the "bible belt", so I've been raised religiously, and believe thus. It's my view is all, and I still think it'd calm a lot of people down.

It's like saying in the 60s: I wish the black population would just put up with segregation, it would calm everybody down. [editline]09:43PM[/editline]
those lot of people are morons and the reason why my church doesn't get new members. you guys make us look bad.
Unfortunately, nowadays the impression of a religious person is that of a moronic zealot.
those lot of people are morons and the reason why my church doesn't get new members. you guys make us look bad.
My local area isn't extreme like a lot of churches in my state, we're just full of old southern Baptists, which a pretty strict and out spoken on how the feel. I personally don't think its right, but I won't single someone out if their homosexual, I just don't religiously believe marriage to be right. If some day the majority votes gay marriage legal, so be it, I won't make a scene, I'll just disagree with it myself, and go about my day. Not all of the bible belt is filled with moron's you know =/
please respect my backwards way of living and allow me to deny rights to others because my parents told me it's what god wants
Backwards to you maybe, but its my beliefs. I can't even vote yet, so it doesn't matter. And in a situation like that, I doubt I would vote if it could be avoided. So even more of a reason I wouldn't complain about the out come all that much.
Your method of 'calming people down' involves stripping someone of their ability to choose what they want to do. But my time of arguing is done, and I accept the fact that my argument was invalid, but I don't want to get too into this and start flaming.
