so?
You can't expect people to take you seriously, if you can't act mature.
so?
What do you mean, "so?" The last person who responded to me in such a manner was four years old. Take that as you will.
You can't expect people to take you seriously, if you can't act mature.
this is facepunch
this is facepunch
Meaning I already don't take you seriously.
Meaning I already don't take you seriously.
see what I mean
So what exactly does this law violate? Specifically though - just being recognized as married?
Being recognized as married holds a number of inherent benefits. There are all kinds of other laws which surround what happens in the event one member of a married couple is killed or injured and how property is passed on as well as who can make decisions in the event that one is incapacitated. I mean the least of which is simply the tax benefits or family discounts for health insurance or whatever. Thousands of things are linked to having a legal marriage. But ultimately it doesn't matter. THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T HOLD THE RIGHT TO TELL YOU WHO YOU CAN AND CANNOT MARRY.
The people have decided and voted. Now the losers get to bitch.
I always fail to see how people care so much about what gay people do. It's not like disallowing gay marriage is going to make them straight, and it's not like marriage is even simply a christian thing in the first place. It's just fuckin ridonkulous.
Welcome to 11 pages ago.
Um... okay? I don't really give a shit when that was posted. It's not like it's anything new that bigot christians are enforcing their morals on other people, so with your path of logic I might as well act really cool and say "Welcome to decades ago" to the whole thread. Cunt.

Bious adherents becoming more bious in the image of Abrahamic God.
So what's in Virginia anyway? We've got tons of trees, Christmas trees, and a caldera lake. In Oregon that is.
The spirit of George Washington still stalks British people's homes here at night.
The spirit of George Washington still stalks British people's homes here at night.
Yeah he tries to pull that bullshit here in the UK too. We ward him off with tea and worship of nelson.
What bed time story should i read tonight?
Heather has two mommies?
Really, they aren't saying you can't get married. They just won't recognize you as being so.
That's the problem, they're the government, you lose the financial part and don't get equal treatment as heterosexual couples.
Really, they aren't saying you can't get married. They just won't recognize you as being so.
That's shitty logic.
Really, they aren't saying you can't get married. They just won't recognize you as being so.
wow what a dumb argument a marriage must be recognized by the government in order to get all of the marriage benefits
Homophobes... So stupid that the government can say who can and can't be married. What happened to seperation of church and state? Their reasoning is mainly a religious one, I don't need to explain that... I'm not gay or bi, but banning gay marriage is just fucked up. It's their life, their love, let them be. [editline]02:50PM[/editline]
Sodomy's illegal in my state (NC). But I don't know how far the law goes; does it condemn the sodomizer or the sodomizee, or both? If it's the latter, then I'm fucked, both literally and figuratively speaking. Any law which has anything to do with what happens (sexually) between two people is wrong. The government has no business at all in my bedroom.
It's illegal but not enforced.
Why does everyone say this? This is part of being a democracy.
We're not a democracy, we're a democratic republic. And we're a democratic republic for a reason, because the founding fathers knew that a direct rule by majority would not be a fair and equal society.
We're not a democracy, we're a democratic republic. And we're a democratic republic for a reason, because the founding fathers knew that a direct rule by majority would not be a fair and equal society.
Hate to say it, but not much of the government made by the founding fathers still remains. It's over 200 years old after all.
Hate to say it, but not much of the government made by the founding fathers still remains. It's over 200 years old after all.
I'm pretty sure the whole "represenative democracy" thing still remains considering how we still have congress
Hate to say it, but not much of the government made by the founding fathers still remains. It's over 200 years old after all.

When asked what type of government the American people were going to participate in, by a well-meaning woman, a stern Benjamin Franklin warned that our new government was going to be "A republic, madam, if you can keep it."
Ben Franklin thinks you're stupid.
Yeah he tries to pull that bullshit here in the UK too. We ward him off with tea and worship of nelson.
Iron maiden works too, but that's a story for another day.
What are they so happy about? [sp]Exploitable.[/sp]
Meanwhile, here in Virginia sex outside of wedlock is still a crime. God bless you, Virginia.
I'm going to move there straight away. Goddamn devil worshippers here allow gays to marry nationwide. This entire country is doomed to hell!
Why does everyone say this? This is part of being a democracy.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyranny_of_the_majority
What are they so happy about?
They get to oppress others. Wouldn't you be happy if you could grind your heel into the back of the heads of thousands of people?
