The bible
Fuck the Bible, more than half of the views in that book suck.
Banning guidelines for homophobia should be more strict. I mean, the conservative fucks are just expressing their dumb opinions and that's alright with me as long as they don't bother me personally. However, they always tend to pull all of FP's rage on themselves which ends in threads full of arguments and pointless flaming.
The Nazis harrassed voters for them to either not vote, or vote for them.
But they were still incredibly popular.
Also, athiests need to realize that, just because they believe they're right doesn't make them the majority everywhere. [editline]12:41PM[/editline] That's irrelevant.
Seek not the favor of the multitude; it is seldom got by honest and lawful means. But seek the testimony of few; and number not voices, but weigh them. Immanuel fucking Kant.
That's awful. It's horrible to see people so happy about taking a minority's rights away. :(
Just goes to show that most people in this country are still bigoted, homophobic douchebags who think God is on their side in persecuting minorities.
In fact, not only should we not go back to the ballot in 2010, but the LGBT community should get out of the marriage fight completely. Our focus should be on earning equality rather than a title for our relationships.

Your relationship exists regardless of what you name it. You get to define it, not the government and not the electorate. When it comes to marriage, let the religious right have it.

Voters from every coast are demonstrating a willingness to choose equal rights under any other name than “marriage.” We won by exactly opposite margins in Washington last night when the issue was one of domestic partnership. It’s time to shut our mouths, stop the phone banks, and start hearing that message coming from the hearts we say we are trying to change.
http://sdgln.com/social/2009/11/04/when-it-comes-marriage-let-religious-right-have-it If only...
Bawww majority of the people in that state don't like gay marriage. As a conservative, I don't like the liberal policies in my state, but the majority of the people here still vote for them, so I don't bitch.
You're coming to a forum, where the majority of people do support and are fine with gay marriage, and now you're the one bitching.

Imagine if they went to the south fifty years ago and said "who wants to let black people vote?" That'd go well...
I find it hard to sympathize with homosexuals to be honest; they've already won, this is the last pathetic kicks from a suffocating bigotry. The reason I dislike the whole homosexual equality campaign is that it's being used as a excuse for people to continue being being bigots in every single other facet of their lives. It's basically the "I'm not racist, I have a black friend" argument, except on a societal scale. Everybody thinks their soOOoooOOOoo accepting because they don't wish death on homosexuals, when in reality they are just blindly following societal norms. These are the same people who would have owned slaves 200 years ago. As long as it's "normal" it's ok. Actually, better than ok, it's "righteous". Edit: Don't get me wrong, I do think homosexual couples deserve completely equal rights as straight couples, I'm criticizing what I see is a lot of people's motives.
The Nazis harrassed voters for them to either not vote, or vote for them.
So wait, you're defending the nazis now? You're a terrible person.
As long as gay couples aren't allowed to have children It's ok. Now, before everyone starts screaming ''Homophobe!'' - even if you are gay, you must agree that growing up with gay parents isn't going to make your social life better. Just think of the children.
Why don't we all start living in caves and chaseing animals with spears for food again while we are at it. Religion holds everything back, why can't people see that.
Wow, this got heated very quickly.

The people spoke and that's that. I could only hope that the states decide whether or not they want to allow gay marriage, not the government.
:wtc: That post made no sense whatsoever.
My fault, I've begun to use... "frilly"(?) language recently, I apologize if I was not clear. What I mean is that homosexuality has been largely accepted. Sure, gay marriage isn't widely legal yet, but it can only become more popular. The media lays it on thick, and as society continues it's trend toward liberalism, and the old bigots die off, homophobia is slated to be classified alongside racism, if you don't think it already is. That's great, truly it is, but my problem is that people aren't becoming liberal for the right reasons, they're just doing to fit in, not because they realize the error of bigotry and discrimination. If people truly learned why bigotry was stupid, we would've learned our lesson hundreds, thousands of years ago. Why haven't we? Why do we still have problems with this? Because time and time again, society scapegoats one tiny part whole problem, terms it "evil" and then everyone feels like saints for a few years.
because that's exactly the thing that Jesus would have done. Naturally.
How so?
I vote we have a vote to kill all Christians.
The bible says that homosexuality is wrong so i guess i can understand why christians dont want gays having christian weddings. But what about civil weddings
It doesn't even say that. If you're a christian, and you actually understand with the bible says, you know that new testament laws override old testament laws. The only thing in the new testament that mentions anything remotely homosexual related is just a small snippet that mentions sodomy next to thieves and liars. Last time I checked, you don't have to be gay to commit sodomy. So why are all these religious groups bitching? Because they're ass backwards rednecks who can't read. If they want to follow old testament law, every time their kids talk back, they need to take them out and stone them to death or they'll go to hell. As for Maine, I'd have to say that's exceptionally unexpected, like prop 8 passing in California. Issues like this can't be voted on. It's unthinkable that they would vote over people's rights.
HOW DARE THESE PEOPLE VOTE FOR SOMETHING I DON'T LIKE I THOUGHT ONLY LIBERALS COULD USE DEMOCRACY LIKE TWITTER THIS IS AN OUTRAGE, I SHALL PROTEST AGAINST THIS! (PS Republicans complaining about Obama are anti-democracy)
Dude, be who you want to be. Don't let any fucker tell you what to do.

[editline]02:00PM[/editline]
You DO realize that they voted AGAINST freedom, right?
People do that quite often. Like every time they vote for a republican or a democrat in a polling booth.
Look at that crazy chick in the photo. She's all like, "Yay! I've gained nothing from this measure, and have only succeeded in denying other people the things that I enjoy! Yay!"

20 years from the line, all those old Republicans will be dead so this doesn't apply to them. But 20 years down the line, when everyone's allowed live how they like and marry whom they love, people are gonna look back at these bigoted times and laugh.
