So why not just a entire town for these people but everyone who is not a homo is banned from even stopping there. See how long that lasts without adoption or birth clinics
That's called segregation.
As we see in American history, that does not work.

Related, very related. Completely true. I agree with everything.

Why does it bother you? Oh right, you're homophobic/xenophobic. Oh yeah and segregation.
So why not just a entire town for these people but everyone who is not a homo is banned from even stopping there. See how long that lasts without adoption or birth clinics
Very well thought out and original argument right here, gentlemen.

That is a sure-fire way to make everyone see that we are the better people and are being mature and sensible.
Yea, marriage between two people who absolutely love each other NEVER happens.
Explains why my Grandparents have been together for 56 years, and they're the two happiest people I know.
Not saying that two people cannot love each other and genuinely want to spend the rest of their lives together. It's totally plausible, totally possible, just not probable in the least.
However, there's no reason to enter into a legal contract over it, and then for people to argue about the sanctity of this legal contract. As I'm sure you're aware, they love each other dearly, and the love is there regardless of whether or not they signed a legally binding contract and sealed it at a church.
Therefore, I am of the opinion that the contract is nothing but symbolic for this scenario. However, in other scenarios, where the people are normal and don't want to be monogamous, the contract does nothing but hurt and ruin lives. Completely eliminating the contract altogether makes everyone happy; the monogamous among us still have their love, which is the force that truly holds a relationship together, and the polygamous among us are no longer suffering under meaningless and archaic legally binding contracts.

What a great idea. This man should be the president.

But he wasn't trying to drive that message across, the message that would bring would be a ''Oh yeah, well fuck you too buddy'' to those people.
Edit: also,
I can't get married to another man, woooooaaaaaaa-oh! Livin' on a prayer!
The bible says that homosexuality is wrong so i guess i can understand why christians dont want gays having christian weddings. But what about civil weddings
Presumably civil weddings are what were just banned here
Also if some Christian churches are willing to marry fruits I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to
This made me really disappointed in my country yesterday how this kind of stuff can still exist.
Some translations of the Bible actually take it upon themselves to decide that the Greek word for "sodomy" translates into "homosexuality" and say that instead of sodomy.
It is quite sad that, in two thousand years, the human race hasn't realized that they don't need a book to tell them how to live their lives.
The fact that people let a book tell them how to live is disturbing enough... But the fact people will base intolerance of their fellow man on what may be a translation error in that book is absolutely disgusting.
I've said it once and I'll say it again, religion is fine and can add greatly to the quality of your character and your life, but it's FAR too much for the majority of people to handle without getting turned into idiots.
This thread is a great way to see if religion has turned you into an idiot.

You're right. I can't stand it when people take religion to an insane extent. It also bothers me that the government decides that it is the authority on who people can marry, and that the people have such a problem with who their neighbors or likely people they don't even know marry.
Nobody's stopping you from leaving.
Maybe some people want to help improve their country instead of abandoning ship. Those are the real Americans, not those who are content to wallow in the shit they're in.

I yearn for the day when religion is dead.
Not in my lifetime unfortunately. :frown:
yay, more christians ruining it for the rest of us SANE christians, who actually read the bible, and learned to (Exact quote here) "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and give to God what is God's."
thanks guys :(

what is it like being clinically retarded?
we can both agree you're dumb as a brick, but are you aware of just how stupid you are? is it a blissful ignorance?
I don't get it why are these laws popping up on the coasts? This is ridiculous, where is the help from the federal government?
I don't get it why are these laws popping up on the coasts? This is ridiculous, where is the help from the federal government?
The federal government can't really do anything about state laws unless they impinge on federal laws. So you would in effect be trying to pass a law through US congress that gives gays the right to marry. Good luck with that. As far as I know, the only federal laws concerning marriage is about outlawing polygamy.
this is reallY tErrible they Should allow any two people to get married
The people have decided and voted.

I don't think this sort of oppression should ever be up for voting by the people.

I can see it happening during Obama's terms.
Yeah I said terms.
Why the fuck do you people care anyways? It's just Maine. Homosexuals can get married in other states, you know.
Besides, I'm guessing there are only 15 or so Facepunchers that live in Maine anyways.
Bawww majority of the people in that state don't like gay marriage.

so that's why you're so dumb.

It's not the fact that they can't get married in Maine, it's the fact that the government is not allowing someone to get married due to their sexual preference.

hurf durf who cares about state-sponsored bigotry and the denying of rights to people anyway?
after all, there's only like 15 people from the mediocre internet forum i like there anyway!
(Didn't get time to read all 5 pages)
Thought: America obviously gets freedom of religion. However, we also get freedom from religion as well. Shouldn't voting on it effectively mean that they are using their religion to infringe on others' rights?
Sry if this was brought up before.
