I hope he lets someone do a DNA sequence and find out what sort of genes he has that might let him live so damn long. I'm thinking either he has extremely long telomeres, or he's one of the few that have genes that produce telomerase and utilize telomerase without getting cancer from it.
He has to be bluffing its impossible to live that long especially if you're male.
Can you apply carbon dating? Or would it not be accurate enough?
If he was that old most of his grandchildren would be dead too
The average age of first birth in Indonesia is 22. Even assuming he had his first kids at 30, that means they were born in 1900. If they had their first kids at 30, eight years above the average, his grandkids would have been born when he was 60. If they're now "becoming independent," assuming 30ish as well, he'd be around 90, not 145. For this to be true, he'd have to have had his first child at 40+ years old, and his children have their grandchildren at 40+ years old, and his grandchildren each "becoming independent" around 40 years old, more than double the average age of first birth in his country - and I have to assume that the average age of first birth was far lower in 1900 than it is now. He's probably 100ish max.
Can you apply carbon dating? Or would it not be accurate enough?
carbon dating is basically meaningless before 5,000 years. Pretty sure it'd be more likely ambient radiation he's absorbed will show he's -200 years old or something dumb like that than getting an accurate measurement

It's always interesting to see how long the human body can last, I am constantly amazed by my Great Grandmother who recently just turned 100 years old. Up until about 2 years ago she was still living independently in her home but after a bad fall she asked to be put into a home. http://peninsulaclarion.com/news/2016-07-03/kenaitze-tribes-oldest-member-turns-100 She is such a beautiful person and I am gonna miss her when she is gone, I have so many good stories from her because I used to hang out with her every morning and have a cup of coffee with her while she told me about moments in her life.
The picture on the card looks like an older, frailer man. Wouldn't be surprised if this was actually his son and just kinda 'took over' after his father, for whatever reason and now just basically pretends to be him. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened. If he really is 145, then damn, good on him. [del]Must have never bathed in the Ganges...[/del] Don't mind my stupidity, cheers.
If he's truly 145 then he lived over 100 years longer than many others, centuries ago., which is incredible

I dont believe this at all cut off his leg and count the rings
Can you apply carbon dating? Or would it not be accurate enough?
Carbon dating can only tell you when an organism died, not when it was born.
Yeah it's true hes 145
What even is the point of living when you have to be bathed, spoonfed, and basically just be an object to maintain
he looks pretty well to carry 145 years
He could just have meant that he hasn't had a reason to live since his grand children became independent, 55 years ago.
Or it could be that he, along with other people who have claimed similar ages, does not hold up to scrutiny. If he turns out to truly be 145 years old, I'm gonna be amazed, but until then I'm gonna assume this is a scam.

Apologies, got my geography mixed up. Either way, ignore that and I still wouldn't be surprised if it was a father / son thing. And no Boaraes, I'm not making a prediction based on a shitty picture, just indulging an interesting thought!

But as for the kids and shit, if he is really this old, it is possible he has some memory degradation and while he knows the year, he might not be able to realize how long it's actually been. maybe they all did die and it was 20 years ago but his mind thinks it was 5 years ago.
his man titties are sagging like no tomorrow
For him? There probably isn't.
