Don't fuck with Amazonians; Villagers punish thieves by LASHING them to tree covered in poisonous fi
like i said already, trying to justify it because "lol different culture" is stupid. people don't go "hey guys we have to understand, it's a different culture" when people get stoned to death in countries ruled by sharia law
I didn't say you have to "understand" it. Who's to say our way of dealing with criminals is any better than theirs? There's no real right and wrong, just how people perceive right and wrong based on their environment.

that's so not what we're discussing

I dunno man I think I'd rather be put in prison for a few months instead of having fire ants slowly and painfully destroy my body.
that's so not what we're discussing
That was what we were discussing, but you obviously want to opt out now and that's alright.

Well yeah, I'd pick that, too.

no we were talking about what justifies doing something as inhumane as this, you were the one that came up with the philosophical bs

I won't argue that it's inhumane. I'm just saying that our opinion would be different if we lived in a village in the middle of the rainforest, as well.

now that's agreeable
now that's agreeable
Glad we came to some type of agreement.
I love you.
Savages.
Someone steals your bike, so what do you do? You kidnap them and let them die slowly and painfully if you won't get your money's fucking disgusting.
They are amazonian villagers living in the Amazon you spoof goof. Thievery is a bit more of a problem to those who live with few resources. To a poor family a bike may be the only way to move things around
Also it isn't like they have psychologists and counselors with which to rehabilitate the thieves. With such a brutal punishment they sure won't try it again and anyone else willing to try and fuck with the villagers will probably have second thoughts about it. You cant just say "It is barbaric they shouldnt torture anyone" when there's no alternative

Few months ago my KTM EXC 525 dirt bike got stolen, it took me a few years to get my hand on such a beast and ive added over 3000$ of performance part on it.
I have no idea who could it be, if i find him, i wouldnt want to torture him with fire ants, but i would want to punch the fuck out of his face.
Fucking barbaric.
I know right, they didn't even add cream or dressing for the ants.
Everything is relative.
Most of the world calls this barbaric, therefor it is.
Excluding the world, this may be the right thing to do.
Or an emotionally charged mob made awful descisions, either way I feel for the thieves.
The motorbikes might be the villages life, whos to say thievery isnt the theives livelihood?
Yup, it's like the death sentence seems barbaric to us, but that's just because europe is far more advanced than murica :v:
no offense

tbh probably smarter than you if he didn't get caught stealing your investment that you failed to insure.

Thievery has no right to be recognized as a legitimate form of "livelihood." If you choose to be a thief, anything that happens to you in the process of attempting theft is and should be fair game. I have no sympathy for thieves.
it's barbaric by OUR standards if WE were to do it then it would be barbaric
Erm no it's still described as vigilante justice, I'm sure it's a step beyond for the area too
tbh probably smarter than you if he didn't get caught stealing your investment that you failed to insure.
Yeah like if i could know it was coming right?
I was gone for a week in the US for a semi truck delivery and the thief knew i was gone, there was nothing i could do at all, and it was not insurable by the way.
Plus its the first time something get stolen in my family, except a battery for my father pickup like 15 years ago.
Nowhere in the article does it say the bikes were recovered when they captured the thieves, as in the article it says the ransom was to make up for the loss of the motorbikes.
Not condoning the behavior, nor do I have an opinion on it, but that's what the article says.
This.
They weren't executing the thieves, they were holding them ransom to get back what was stolen.
It's not explicitly stated whether or not they got the bikes back after catching the thieves, for example they may have known who did it but only caught them after they had hidden the bikes or sold the bikes.
Also note, that their relatives paid the ransom for the bikes, at "nearly four times" the average annual wage. They either have a sizable relative nest egg or their family is quite well off and they don't particularly need to be stealing.
I don't know the specifics of the situation, if the bikes were part of my livelihood I would have done what the villagers did, if they weren't I probably would have held them ransom still but without the risk of death. And look on the bright side, a valuable lesson was learned by both the thieves and anyone else who dares fuck with that particular village. Don't.
Although these aren't fire ants/whatever ants they used for torture
This really shows that it looks painful ;
Also, they might enter your mouth/nose :v:
Thanks for this post, saw it last night before going to sleep and proceeded to have a dream about flies flying in my face trying to go up my nose.
this is what i call jungle justice
