• P.E "not strenuous enough" say school inspectors

My P.E was pretty much just doing laps for 1 hour straight, sprinting. That was fine by me, doesn't seem like it wasn't enough.
Fuck that, we did cross-country and we had to run miles, if you were too unfit well fucking tough. I hated it.
My Gym Class consisted of the coach not making any misinterpreted remarks about the length of our shorts and us doing one push-up.
get the runts to do the bleep test each morning, that'll teach them not to be fat
Educating students on diet is much more important than strenuous PE sessions If weight loss/management is their goal anyway
That's why in Ireland we have SPHE classes(Social Physical Health Education) as well as PE. SPHE also contained sex ed. It's funny though, it seemed to focus A LOT on vaginas. And we had a female teacher.
Outside? I honestly don't think I've ever seen an outdoor pool in England. We went to the local indoor pool when they took us.
My old school had an outdoor swimming pool. It was freezing.
You guys have drill sergeants. I have a yoga instructor :v:
get the runts to do the bleep test each morning, that'll teach them not to be fat
Oh god. Never again. I last did that three years ago, and my legs still hurt.
No shit Most of the lesson was spent getting changed + setting up equipment anyway
I remember one time the entire class took too long to get changed and into the hall and our teacher was mad. The punishment was to spend the next hour getting changed and unchanged repeatedly until we had it down to like a minute. Was probably the best P.E. lesson
From grades 1 to 4, we had a simple play games and hop P.E. classes. 5 to 6 or 7 we had a "drill sergeant" as our teacher and now we have a really nice teacher. we have 2 lessons in a row and it is usually first for running/whatever activity we got and second for a game like hockey/floorball or football or basketball or go hang out at the gym. Also 20 push-ups in the end of every lesson. Dunno, I like it. Every year we get to ice skate, run 2/3 km and long jumps and so on. And we even lift! (Bestonia 4 lyf)
We had these things: Until our teachers realized we were just running into each other at full speed no matter what we were supposed to be doing and took them away :v:

Idiots kept running over their fingers and whatnot so those were literally taken out after a year :(
When I was in high school we only had to take 2 trimesters worth of gym, or 2/3 of one school year is all you needed to graduate. But they had some cool classes; rock wall, high ropes, archery, weights, etc.
After year 10 got started and everyone picked their GCSEs anyone who still only done core PE sat around and done fuck all in the gym, we messed round with equipment and had to buy £40 kits from the school no matter what you do. On another note, all we did was sit on the field and go through half a 12.5 over the hour and kick a football about without even wearing shoes since no one was bothered. If you don't pick to specialise in PE I don't see any point in even doing it, the students don't care, the teachers don't even care so it was just a waste of time, should be spent focusing on other subjects really.
Our P.E. consists of doing the same things Athletics does but without the Sports. We still go to the weight room ans we still run just as much but the only difference is we don't play the sports.
I enjoyed PE when there were at least some people that actually tried. That being said, most of the kids in my PE classes over the past few years were 2 kewl 4 PE and just sat on their asses
I swear my PE teacher just used our class for his P90X training of the day because that was all we did
When I did P.E in Year 10 I got sick notes for every outdoor lesson during winter, I fucking hated Rugby/Football in the cold because after about 15-30 minutes my incredibly shit ability to do both sports went through the floor when I literally just stood, walked and shivered. The lessons were basically "ok, we know you're worthless because you didn't take the GCSE, but here, have some theory!" at which point nobody listened, the techniques we were told to use (which were in decline of mention since the previous years) weren't used and the teacher would throw a shit fit sometimes, and we then practiced on boring courses before either doing a game or saving it for later lessons. Variety of sport was basically this: Football, Basketball, Rugby, (for like 6-7 lessons each) Cricket + similar games (e.g Danish longball) and Swimming. Swimming was the only subject I liked because I could do about 500m+ by the age of ten. They gave us 4 lessons for that. In one year the swimming pool had to be refilled for 3 of the slots so we literally only got one.
All my P.E lessons were pretty much Football, Football, Football and more Football. Years 10 and 11 were not really that much better just with a sport of our own choice. Where did the variety go?
Well yes, it's Physical Education. It's designed to give kids a rudimentary understanding of various sports, not push them into repetitive exercises. If a child enjoys a sport then they'll naturally looks towards playing said sport through programmes provided by either the school or their community. These initiatives of course benefit them by helping them become physically and mentally stronger.
At my old school in Slovenia, they made us run miles around a field, it was actually pretty cool, sometimes we played baseball, or kickball and stuff.
I basically just played football for 2 hours in the cold every week for PE. It was boring as fuck because they always had mixed skill teams. Every match was just one really good person either side actually playing while everyone else just kind of watched and pretended to be in defence. We had one lesson where we got to chose our own teams and who we played against and it was actually pretty fun. All the people who were good at football played against each other while everyone who was shit could play a game without one person dominating the whole match. Unfortunately we never got to do it again because it was "unfair to separate people based on skill".
i miss p.e. it was the funnest (lol) experience of my high school years
Junior High P.E/Gym for me was basketball and running laps around the gym. High School we had laps(the school actually had a dedicated running track), Badminton and skate-less Hockey. It was wasn't BAD, but yeah, it could have been a bit more strenuous. [sp]I ended up kind of excused from P.E for the duration of my High School days though as during a hockey game someone purposely tripped me and I ended up smashing the back of my head on a water fountain. Why it happened? Even in the mid 90's, overweight people had no place in real sports I guess.....[/sp]
Fuck bleep tests btw. Also, one time we were like 1 min late and everbody needed to run for an extra 10 minutes >.>
I hated PE, it's probably why I'm so averse to exercising and sports now. In grade school we had to run around the gym for like 4 laps, we'd do pushups, curls, and situps, play kickball and baseball, etc. Middle school we played wall ball, dodgeball, had to run the mile and pass those national fitness exams (USA btw), play baseball, soccer, climb ropes, etc. High school was American Football, touch instead of tackle but people rammed you anyways, as well as running the mile, baseball, soccer, wall ball, dodgeball, curls, push ups, etc. We did something different every day or two. I hated exercise, I was always out of breath, in pain whenever I ran, I hated exercise so much that sometimes I'd sneak out, try and make up an excuse or at one point just plain refused to exercise and got sent to the principal's office. I'd get anxiety over what we'd be doing in gym class, and get depressed when I sucked in sports and our team lost probably because of me. Sure, I was thin, but it hasn't helped much because now I'm back to being a tad overweight because it's ingrained a deep seated aversion to exercise and pain. Yeah, I know, woe is me, but all PE did was make school miserable for me. When I because a junior in high school and PE was optional I dropped that class instantly, and took an arts course instead, which in my opinion was way more beneficial.
All i remember of PE is being late for the next lesson or missing the bus home when its pissing down they love to end the lesson on the hour and wont unlock changing room until all the equipment is away.
PE in elementary was essentially fun games like basketball or those wheely scooters which was awesome. Middle school was much the same with a bit of running thrown in. High school was usually jogging the entire class period which I hated. I actually like running, and used it to lose quite a bit of weight a few years ago, but it's different when you're inches away from sweaty, smelly people for an hour doing it.
