Why does this have to happen god can't she just leave peacefully and not make another Judge Judy

That's still really strange to me. I don't think it's even legal to broadcast proceedings here in most cases.

They are not "proceedings" and you don't even have to be Judge (though most of them are former judges). These TV Court judges are [URL="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbitration"]arbitrators[/URL]. Their decisions are legally binding. Arbitrators are a means of resolving a dispute, they are considered one step above a mediator, and one step below an actual civil lawsuit. By signing with an arbitrator, you agree that anything decided by them is legally binding.
That's all Judge Judy is. With the exception of trying to make everything look like a court-room, even though it is not court.
