File -> Settings -> Verify-email-or-something-like-that (one of the big buttons on the first tab) (make sure you use one of the official Steam skins or it won't show up)
And make sure NOT to use the same password on the e-mail and steam account.
I thought this would be about a Steam Monopoly game..

The Railroads can be Railworks DLC!

You obviously don't live in Europe if you dare say that.
Two things what I hate about steam is that it totally screws over people with limited bandwidth with all the updates before you can play the damn game. Second, say I'm at my friend's house and he has never tried Half Life 2 before. Instead of normally just bringing my game and installing it, I have to download steam, log in with my account, reinstall the game, download ALL the updates then FINALLY do I get to play it.
And I wish offline mode would actually fucking work. Valve may be the best dev around but damn steam is not that good. Something that would be useful is some kind of LAN Only feature where a different account can play that game LAN but only as long as it is connected with the computer who sent the invite. It would probably be exploited though but meh.

Is that the one with the insanely high amount of expensive DLC?
get out of VAC card?
Don't pass LAUNCH GAME, go directly to VAC Jail!
Let's ACTUALLY do this!
Let's make a srs Steam Monopoly game board.
:buddy:
I don't see what's bad about a game developer being in control of a distribution system because if it got big then surely valve would have more then enough money to make a separate department to handle steam?
I'd buy more from steam if they had fair prices. Last thing I bought from steam was Hammerfall because it cost 7€ and before that it was the orange box pre-order because it was still in $
Currently I'm buying from other online distribution sites because games there cost like 50% or less of what they do on steam.
manuals are made of paper too.
Yeah, but they're made of that super-glossy paper.

Everyone is mad at steam for being so awesome
Who cares if Steam becomes a monopoly if it maintains what its doing right now? It cuts the best deals time after time, it has actual customer support, it's reliable... Unlike EA who shaft you at any chance they get, Move over EA, there's a new sheriff in town
I mean come on, KotOR for 5 bucks? And they have 389 Dollars worth of games for just 50 bucks right now, No one is going to top that, and those are some good games too... Red Faction, Company of Heroes, Full Spectrum Warrior games, Stalker, Fuels of War, Titan Quest, Warhammer... and more... Most of those were $50 when they first came out , Guerrilla is still $40 by itself...
Fucking A' Steam has serious deals, and has them often, Valve is more of a Customer service with a big heart for its customer base, whereas people like EA just toss out year after year the same titles, and very rarely have Decent unique ones (Like Mirror's Edge), Which is On sale for $15 bucks at EA's store, but then they have a Time Trial Map Pack for sale there for $10, EA just seems unfair, Oh and Mirrors Edge is just $5 on Steam right now, so in your face EA

Dunno about him, but I am from europe and steam is a total ripoff. Haven't bought a game ever since it forced me to pay in euros.
I don't want to have to have 3 different distribution platforms on my computer, that's asenine. I like steam because all I want is on it, it's great.

You people are whining ever since it changed from dollar to euros.
It's the same price as in the store, the only disadvantage is that you don't get a cd now, deal with it.

MW2 for example is 60 euros, that's the same as 511 NOK, which is the same as 90 USD.
Step one: Buy boxed game for almost no money from game.co.uk
Step two: Insert CD-key into Steam
Step three: Save money
Step four: Forget you even had a box to begin with.
ALMOST NO MONEY!?!
Game.co.uk is seriously expensive.

Hahaha, you know how everybody raged like little children when MW2 was announced to cost $60?
Now every little piece of shit game only 5 people know about cost at least $75 in Europe.
Pre-2004 Steam was quite awful - but I think it's really grown into an excellent platform with the community additions and stuff.
I like buying games in shops because you get the feeling of physically having bought something and the warm glow that can only be obtained through meaningless physical wealth. Meaningless virtual wealth just isn't the same.

On some items, it's only a little bit cheaper than Steam or store, but on some items, it's a big difference.
You save extra if you use pounds on checkout and let Visa do currency exchange.
There's just... a kind of magic feeling when you have that physical copy. It's not just data, it's there in your hats.
Must be because I grew up with cases and manuals and such.
I love having that magical feeling in my hat.
I'd like Valve to remove the L4D2 demo from my game list.
I don't see any other demos in my list. They're pretty much abusing their position.
I wonder if the other digital companies want some CHEESE with that WHINE.
you spelt wine wrong
The only thing that bothers me about steam is that all your games are tied to an account you have to log into to play them. If Valve were to suddenly stop supporting steam which they could do at anytime guess what happens to all those games you paid for.
Really they should just give you regular .exe files that intertwine with steam community, people claim that nobody would buy games then but a few google searches will bring you to a site with cracks for any game you want free of charge.
Personally I think it's pretty fucked up that even cost/legality put aside, the pirated versions are much more convenient and versatile then legally paid for ones. If someone has a good argument against this please by all means post so.

Valve already said if they ever go under there going to remove the DRM from the steam games and you can burn or backup and such.
I can't afford a strong gaming computer so i'm stuck with shit for now :sigh: I have been telling my family that I need various pc parts. I ask for a new video card, I get a monitor. I ask for 6gb of ram and I get a 600gb hard drive. I thank my family for the effort, but they just don't understand. Better luck this Christmas maybe...:eng99:
