Drawing games out to 0-0 draws and then getting a lucky goal in Extra Time/winning on pens isn't a good way to play football. Then there's the fact that every single Portugese player cheats and dives like it's going out of fucking fashion.
Not deserved at all. France or even Wales deserved the trophy a lot more.
Lol, how about the shitload of fouls that the ref didn't even bother with for some reason?
I love it how nobody cares about the dirty ass game by France, yet they still kiss its ass after not being able to score ONCE in 120 minutes.
yeah i'm sure the foul on ronaldo in the first half was a dive
I'm sure Eder's long range goal was cheating
I'm sure our wonderful record being better at penalties than everybody else was just luck
What foul on ronaldo? All I remember is CHEATING AND DIVING AND BEING BAD AT SOCCER.
:v: seriously, the fucking salt
So many fucking fouls i cringed at each one the referee didn't mark. :goodjob:
It's a fucking embarassment for the French team the sheer number of fouls they committed.
As a Portuguese living in France, I've been pressured with jokes by them like they already won the Euro 2016 for three days straight before the match. I had to deal with an entire month them saying that Portugal only advances as long Ronaldo is involved on the match and look what happened today.
Regarding that foul which didn't count on Ronaldo that Payet made it look like an accident is a blatant lie.
The fucking roads are full of people waving flags and honking their horns. I've never seen so many people in the streets celebrating at once, and I live in a small town.
Patricio didn't get nearly the credit he deserves, him and the defence worked their asses off to keep the game 0-0 for the first 90 minutes.
Seems that in those Finals that go into extra time, that the keepers are mainly the MVPs if they don't concede then. And Patricio had some amazing saves throughout the entire game.
Can say though that the reactions in the sport bar here were fun though. The French having a thousand-year stare, all while the Portugese were cheering loudly. Even an elderly Portugese lady started shouting "TSUUUU" loudly. Quite the experience.
Don't forget about the 2017 confederations cup btw
Russia: hosts
Germany: World Cup winners
Australia: AFC Asian Cup winners
Chile: Copa America winners
Mexico: CONCACAF Cup winners
New Zealand: OFC Nations Cup winners
Portugal: UEFA European Champions
The last participant will be the winner of the 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations
Nobody ever remembers this weirdly.
They say we abused our cards and didn't try enough shots, but France did a dirty ass game consisting of taking down people and never even getting cards for whatever reason, and getting their shots blocked by Patricio.
And their number 18 was a goddamn cyborg. Dude ran like there was no tomorrow, but just couldn't go a bit further.
The first half consisted of dangerous fast steals which really wore them down.

Patricio was easily one of the best throughout the entire tournament.
I WONDER WHY NO REMEMBERS THAT PART? :speechless:

Oh man, I bet I won't have to buy salt for years if french fans go in there.
Just to say I'm enjoying all the salty tears.
Well deserved indeed.
Also we're probably the only team who has a goalkeeper that actually keeps goals from getting in.
gg ez
I don't watch much football but I've got to say the defense on both side did an admirable job, especially the Portuguese goalie.
Say what you want about how Portugal won, at least Ronaldo has a title for his country, unlike Messi :v:
Glad to see the ref embraced the no to racism campaign by making no difference between a black and a white hand :v:
I'll tell you, Lisbon is crazy right now. I've never seen so much Portugal clumped together in my life.
I feel for Ronaldo, though. The moment the repeat of him being sandwiched went on I knew shit was serious. The constant pained look on his face after he tried to return to the field, and the tears on his face as he is forced to abandon his final, being captain and all.
[editline]11th July 2016[/editline]
Did I mention the car horns? The honkening is real
duh portugal would have only actually for realsies won if they were incredibly violent and played like idiots
instead they had to go and be strategical and intelligently, uck, can't have any of that in footsoccerball!!!
I don't know about how deserved the win was, but this was the single most boring final I've ever watched in my life.
OP is being a sore and salty loser. Congrats Portugal!
lmao, that win wasn't deserved at all
I don't give a shit about football but the point of any sport is to win. Even if they won using unorthodox methods, they still won and that makes them the better team.
if you don't like it then git gudder and beat them next year

Unorthodox method in this case is apparently playing it safe, defending really well and scoring once, instead of just burning stamina early game and fouling the shit out of people.
The salt from some people is amazing really.
im crying
You know, I saw an image on some Polish site once, with the world map where all countries are white, Portugal is marked red and the map's legend says "White = countries dissatisfied with Portugal's victory, red = countries satisfied with Portugal's victory, blue = Portuguese ego". I'm happy to see that real life confirms comedy without even trying. Seriously, just take a single look at this thread. If the flag is not Portuguese, the poster is probably saying Portugal didn't deserve the win and they basically tied their way through by slow gameplay, and if the flag IS Portuguese, the post probably says something along the lines of WHO CARES WE DIDN'T LOSE A SINGLE MATCH WE WON GO PORTUGAL WOOOOO.
I can't even believe I'm writing this post at all, seeing as I've been actively trying to get as uninvolved in the Euro 2016 talk as humanly possible. I've tried to avoid it for as long as possible, but Polish internet just can't stop bitching about the lost match and circlejerking around how good our national team is. The more "patriotic" idiots over here tried to force a petition to replay the match with Portugal, thinking some small-time poll on an irrelevant Polish website would do anything.
Well, since I'm here anyway - congrats to Portugal, I guess? I'm not really interested in football, but whatever - if they're happy with their victory (and the way they earned it, judging by the rest of the world's accusations), so be it. I ain't the one to take it away from them.
The game was utterly boring.
But I'm just glad that the most pretentious team of them all (hint: my flagdog) didn't get anywhere close to winning.
Portugal played well in that match tbh (especially the goal keeper) and that one goal was perfect but man so many tears from Ronaldo it was pathetic...
I thought people disliked Ronaldo's attitude in general and that's why they didn't want Portugal to win?
