One, it's a long range missile, you have to have a plane in range in the right spot at the right time to intercept the missile and shoot it down, so unless you can predict where they will launch the missile and when they will launch it, having a plane available is just pure luck. Two, you can't shoot the missile down just anywhere, if it's flying over Europe at the time then shooting it down isn't a very good idea because it would likely land in a populated area and really make an unfathomable mess like the world has never seen. So basically, you have to be in the right spot at the right time, and you can't do it over or near a populated area, and I doubt the military routinely flies 747s armed with anti-missile lasers over empty land just in case somebody goes rogue and throws missiles around. This is why Nukes are so feared, because once they are in the air and headed toward a target, there's really not a whole lot you can do about it except shoot back before you loose the ability to do even that. MAD indeed.

I was reading online the other day, president of Iran is a believer in the whole 2012 thing. Now that's some scary shit. Even if you and I don't believe in that shit, and this guy does, then he'll take matters into his own hands and rid of this world on that date (or around it). I hope that fucker chokes on some food and dies.

Not to mention the ozon layer getting destroyed, which means when the sun finally does come back, the UV radiation will destroy your cells. That and genetic mutations will de-evolve humanity until we are nothing like we were before the bombs.
