petitions are dumb.
[QUOTE=Mythman;50099604]That might be how it works in Australia but in the UK the Fixed Term Parliament act removed that power in 2011:

The only way an early election can be called is a vote of no confidence or a 2/3rds majority of MPs.
Specifically, Section 3 of the Act means that:

That's odd, the Queen should have the right to dissolve parliament if she wishes to
I guess one way for the crown to get around that is to deny royal assent to all bills forcing the Government to either resign but that would lead to a republican movement

A British monarch hasn't withheld assent for a bill from the UK parliament in over 300 years. Why would they start now? And are you forgetting that the Queen is above politics?
Like I know you made that earlier post calling someone wrong, to try to sound smart because you somewhat know modern Australian history and you apparently believe that the Australian system and the UK system work in the exact same way, but give up. There is nothing the Queen can do about this situation. Why would she try to do anything anyways? Because David Cameron's dad had an offshore trust? lmao

I don't believe the Queen would do anything, way to take my words out of context, I was trying to understand the powers of the crown
I'm just saying she has and should be entitled to have the power to reject bills and the power to dissolve parliament if she wants to, doesn't matter who is sitting

Na you don't want an unelected person having absolute power. Even if they have the best intentions somewhere down the line thats going to get abused and you'll end up with someone trying to get rid of them.
Best thing about our monarchy is its a head of state with no power or alignment, so people can't really go against the head of state.
