If you fall flat on your back, feet down flat against your ass, arms out, you expose the most surface area possible. It's actually not that odd to survive a skydiving accident in this position.
Wasn't there a paratrooper in WWII who survived his parachute failing by falling through a tree on the way down? I hate to think what'd be going through your mind as you fell though.
"well, shit"
How am I late on that I saw no one post Peggy hill Dumbasses
Youtube Video
I fell off my chair when I read this.
I parachuted many drugs to end the pain after reading this post.
I'm glad to hear she's okay. She seems like such a down-to-earth person too.
Either both these women didn't reach terminal velocity somehow or they hit the ground at such an angle that the full possible impact was not exerted. Reality just doesn't fucking make sense sometimes...
The way you explain it, it does.
WOAAAA SKOPIOHHH is what I got out of this. Pretty crazy stuff.

It's based off of how relaxed you are. On that discovery channel show about the human body, a dude survived being tossed a really long distance by a tornado because he was knocked unconscious and his body was fully relaxed. It actually says a lot about the people that survive these falls. It means they were able to calm down to the point where they were entirely relaxed, no simple feat when you are plunging to your doom. There's a video out there on the internet that is helmet cam footage of a dude suffering a similar problem as this lady did, his chute didn't deploy correctly and he's falling extremely fast. He survived the impact, but you can tell he was able to come to terms with his situation and relax. He said he prayers are then was like "Well, I'm dead." Really shows how tough our bodies are.
I guess she rolled a 20 to dodge and blocked the ground.
That was EXACTLY what I was thinking. High five for fellow nerdship. :D
I hate when they say survival is "nothing short of a miracle"
Does it sting your conscience?
