It sucks not having a PS4, but on the other hand, it'd suck more to pay $400 just for this game. Looks really nice though.
shit man if you know someone with a ps4 buy this game and play through it with him; you'd probably not regret it. I plan to play through the game coop with a friend and we have agreed to take shots after each death (just like we did once before with a sens fortress run in dark souls 1) We'll see how that goes. [editline]17th March 2015[/editline]
It looks a bit like dark souls is this from the same company?
Yeah; same company that brought you ArmoredCore, even
Honestly I felt like the general weight of the character and rolling didn't felt as tight to control in DS2 compared to 1; but the gameplay/combat is definitely upgraded and fun in DS2.
All my hate from Dark Souls 2 isn't really about the combat or controls, it just didn't understand the original vision or what souls games are suppose to be about. Miyazaki himself will tell you that souls games aren't suppose to emphasize or be about the difficulty but about the journey you made to get all the way to the end and those awesome memories. The royal rat authority is a good example of how they fucked this up in Dark Souls 2. They took a cool boss and ruined it because they wanted to emphasize difficulty. Its an okay game but it didn't feel like a unique experience compared to Demon Souls and Dark Souls To me its like making a Metal Gear game without all the wierd whacky hideo shit, it would probably be a good game but not a Metal Gear game.
Going by the commercials I've seen, I'm not a fan. Don't really care for the art style either.

Like, that's atrocious in comparison to DS1, and the level design is so much worse in basically every way. It's still a fantastic game, but while DS1 had a couple of arguably terrible areas (Lost Izalith being unfinished for example), DS2 has areas that are basically giant kill-boxes, or the forest ruins area that is made up of like... one texture, or how atrocious the Shrine of Amana is, to the point that I almost forget that it exists. Not to mention the fact that Demon's Souls, a game with levels being entirely separated from one another via warp stones, feels far more connected and is an interesting, sense making world. Well, except for the Tower of Latria, which is one of my favorite video game worlds, but god damn if I could ever figure out what the hell was going on with how that place exists architecturally.
People always say their second souls game is easier Its because you knew how to play it better Everyone who has played dark souls first then went to play demon souls usually says the same thing "Oh dark souls was way harder" [editline]17th March 2015[/editline] IMO the level design in DS2 was just as good, if not better than DS1 The world design was not. I.E. the levels just seemed to totally randomly run into each other in a linear way that made little sense, while in DS1 they all intertwined and made locational sense to each other [editline]17th March 2015[/editline] Also I don't get all the hate behind dark souls 2 Its a better game in many aspects, slightly worse (but not bad) in others, the perfect sequel. I can't take anyone seriously who says its bad because it means they ignored everything good about the game just because it wasn't the eye opening world-changing experience they expected after Dark Souls 1 I still think DS1 was objectively better just because it was more tightly designed in certain areas where it counted the most (memorable boss fights, world design) but while DS2 is weaker on those areas its still does a good job at it, and IMO is better in terms of what kinds of things they added or changed for combat/armor/weapons/gameplay/etc.
ds1 i liked the levels design better, the lack of direction makes it easier to get lost in immersion because of how wild and natural it is, rather than linear and laid out feeling. ds2 did have amazing level design though ds2 had better pvp, enemies, everything. less bullshit enemy placements too

A streamlined, 'cooler', next gen Dark Souls is pretty much what they needed, good job.
I like the aesthetic of this game, but honestly from what I've seen the gameplay looks very boring.
I bought a PS4 for this game like 4 months ago and I haven't touched it since lol, cant wait for this though
Good because my PS4 has been collecting dust for too damn long. Such a stupid purchase, I hope this justifies it even partially.
Honestly I felt like the general weight of the character and rolling didn't felt as tight to control in DS2 compared to 1; but the gameplay/combat is definitely upgraded and fun in DS2.
Really? I recently went back to DS1 for a bit and in my experience it controls like raw ass in comparison to DS2.
except ng+ shrine of amana that was 120% bullshit
both games have bullshit, people only really shit on shrine of amana but tbh it was an easyarea for me FUCK thore beetles though
both games have bullshit, people only really shit on shrine of amana but tbh it was an easyarea for me FUCK thore beetles though
I mean the whole of the shrine wasnt tough, just that one little bit RIGHT before the third bonfire with the 4 archdrakes on ng+
Amana is fine now, but when the game first came out and before they patched the shit out of it? Fuck that zone.
Amana is fine now, but when the game first came out and before they patched the shit out of it? Fuck that zone.
what did they change about it? last time i played through it you still get stuck walking through the water while 3 archdrakes chase you down, while getting shot at from half a mile away. such a shame too, because visually speaking, this is probably one of the game's best.

I bought a refurbished Wii U for Smash Bros 4, I'll buy a goddamn used PS4 for my favorite game series. :v:
guess my little brother's PS4 is my PS4 now
I've heard nothing but amazing things, but the one recurring thing I have heard is that it's super hard, like Dark Souls vets have to throw out everything they know hard.
Eh, I think it's just that they are hyping up the difficulty. Demon's was hard because first run you had no idea about anything in the game, same with Dark Souls. As long as they keep the same formula, I'm sure it'll still be a great game regardless of how difficult it is. Looking at the visuals, it's incredibly pretty, and I really like what they have done with the story and the environment (at least from what I've seen from the gameplay videos).
It looks like it is following Demon's steps and having a substantial story vs Dark's Minimalist story
It looks like it is following Demon's steps and having a substantial story vs Dark's Minimalist story
the Miyazaki "make your own interpretation of the story" is still seemingly the same though.
It looks a bit like dark souls is this from the same company?
it's the same company u dip also my ps4 is biting dust, so I'm looking forward to play this game.
it's the same company u dip
that's what he asked ass-hat.
am i the only one who found Demons Souls harder then Dark Souls? and i played it before the both of them and still haven't finished it
Demon's is objectively harder.
The fact that there's no shield combat basically fucking sells this game to me. FROM has substantially improved the quality of PvP combat by removing or refining the most frustrating parts of the Souls' series issues. Parries are performed by the guns used in offhand and being parried is harder depending on how much weight your armor has on it. Backstabbing is only possible if you land a fully charged R2 attack, which are very readable. The combat is made more offensive by making you regain recently lost health by attacking. I'm only so hype for this game because I see how much they're improving as a whole. It's going to be fucking awesome.
This game is gonna kick my ass. I'm one of those guys who sits behind a shield all the time.
apparently there are shields in the game in some form; just so you're aware. Noone who's played the game has said it's good I'm sure it has it's uses, but knowing From it's in the game purely to troll turtles[/sp]
Not really sure how I feel about the whole 'if you coop you're gonna get your ass invaded' thing tbh. On one hand it seems like it would be a fun way of implementing more teamwork into pvp on the other I can see pvpers whining about the system and getting 'ganked'
