Well formerly published for consoles. I doubt the spirit of cooperation exists between the two anymore.
They self publish now I think, unless EA published on the 360 EA's site has details about the orange box, more you know [editline]14th June 2013[/editline] I think Portal 2 and CS:GO they self published themselves?
Nintendo used to do this, anyone remember the 'Bob's game' controversy? Bob was a cunt sure but it raised awareness about Nintendo's silly publishing policy. Good thing Nintendo discovered the error of their ways. Microsoft needs to take some pointers.
I'm okay with this. Abe's Odyssey has always been best played with a PS controller.

GOD DAMN IT!

Why would you buy an xbox one?
What kind of stupid policy is this? Why should a company NEED a publisher?
What kind of stupid policy is this? Why should a company NEED a publisher?
Because Microsoft is so out of touch with reality they thought they'd give everybody fair warning. They're good at heart.
The only way they could possibly save themselves is if somehow Half-Life 3 is announced as an Xbone exclusive :v:
What does Microsoft gain from having developers partner up with the publishers? It seems so unnecessary to me, why can't they just have indie titles on there as well.

Having publishers determine what could or could not be of quality and profitable works out better for Microsoft as they (Microsoft) do not need to hire the means of doing that quality assurance themselves. Publishers need to publish good games if they are to survive, and so they'd probably have a better idea anyways. It's similar in principle as to why the iOS App Store is generally regarded to have higher quality apps than the marketplaces on Android.

Everything revealed so far seems to be geared towards getting publishers (films and games) to favour it over the other consoles. While publishers are no doubt highly tempted, I hope they realise that the console is going to lose market share because of these policies. Or maybe i'm just being optimistic, gaming boycotts have been absolutely pathetic.
So right now after ingesting a cyanide pill, Microsoft is in the process of shooting himself while being hung from a noose.
I think a more appropriate comparisson would be standing on a barstool with a noose around their neck as they bite down on a cyanide pill and shoot themselves with a desert eagle so they fall backwards into a pool of boiling acid while holding a plugged in toaster under their arm.
Then the vat tips over into lemon juice covered razors.
And then they release a pack of rabid ferrets to clean up whatever's left.
I'm okay with this. Abe's Odyssey has always been best played with a PS controller.
I would have agreed but I grew out of the DualShock way too long ago. It's a nice design but Sony need to make that fucker bigger.
Guess its a good thing Microsoft has so much money that they can keep getting new feet to shoot themselves in.
To an extent, yes. I will have to give you that. [sp]The problem is, I still want an Xbone, but only for the games.[/sp]
relevant
I would have agreed but I grew out of the DualShock way too long ago. It's a nice design but Sony need to make that fucker bigger.
It is
And this is also why I'm getting a PS4 just for New N Tasty. I'm going to be creaming myself at the nostalgia of playing Abe with a PS controller again. 3 "generations" of consoles later and about 14 years since I first played Abe's Oddysey on the PS1
I would have agreed but I grew out of the DualShock way too long ago. It's a nice design but Sony need to make that fucker bigger.
I got a Snakebyte controller. It's like a DualShock 3, but with longer handles.
Linux has more indie games than the Xbox One. Linux.
I'm okay with this. Abe's Odyssey has always been best played with a PS controller.
Agree'd. And holy fuck am I glad they're making a new game, the 2 original games WERE my (late) childhood, despite the difficulty. So happy to see the series getting another game.
I feel as if this whole Microsoft this is just a massive publicity stunt
Microsoft, do you want anyone to buy your new console?
its ok, it has early cod and battlefield for all the xbros :downs:
At this point I'm convinced Microsoft are actually fed up of making consoles, and want to to remove themselves.
Back to making shitty operating systems! [editline]14th June 2013[/editline] That's right, I went there
Microsoft thinks people chose the 360 over PS3 not because of price and PS3 not getting enough games, but that somehow customers prefered their brand :v:
Can someone tell microsoft that PS3 hasn't had problems with "not enough games" or "price" since 2010? I'm going to laugh when both consoles launch, and PS4 is sold out everywhere. With the xbox one still sitting on store shelves.

I'm leaning towards PS4 even more now that Oddworld may be missing. Then again, it's always best to wait a little after the consoles are released...avoid any further "surprises"

Maybe for once we'll see gamestop do something....useful?
