They sort of did, you can see in the video. Peter sets Homer up for a cutaway gag, but Homer doesn't understand it so Peter has to do it for him.

From what I seen in the video, the Simpson's characters for the most part are written like themselves and the family guy characters are written like themselves. It actually feels like a legit crossover.

I'm curious to watch it to see if it really is as bad as it sounds but it's not available in canada
There were a few funny moments in the trailer but I can't imagine this'll be a very good episode.

Mainly because the disconnect between show content will likely produce an eventual out-of-character scene that spoils the experience.

This is exactly as horrible as I expected it to be.
All this really does for me is remind me how clever and funny the Simpsons still are compare to Family Guy.
I keep thinking they've hit rock bottom, but it just gets worse.
