• [UK] Pornography to be blocked by internet service providers unless users opt in.

Guess who's on Virgin. The government have way too much power over the internet nowadays.
This is a stupid idea, and I think it is a bad sign of things to come. On a more personal note, I was really worried about this. Then I realised I'm over 18 and my broadband is in my name. Opting in/out (whatever gets me porn) ASAP!
In Britain they support protected sex at a young age, so what the fuck is the point of blocking some pornographic websites? This is god damn stupid.
Welcome to british politics
What about things like reddit, hell even Facepunch has a hot girls thread. Will they be blocked too? Edit - nevermind, BBC said its OPT-IN for the service.
STOPPANICKINGSTOPPANICKINGGODDAMNIT You have to opt into the block. Not out of it. But if my parents opt into it i will go abso-bloody-loutely mental and probably kill a few people. Mostly because i fucking HAAAAAATE censorship. It's bullshit, Simply because if you block children from nudity full stop YOU WILL STUNT THEIR SEXUALITY AND OFTEN CREATE SEXUAL PREDATORS YOU UTTER FUCKING NUMPTIES THE EVIDENCE IS ASTOUNDING. [editline]11th October 2011[/editline] Fuck, Man, This is some real SiN-like shit right here, man. What about Twitter, Eh? What about Deviantart? What about FanFiction.net? Things like Rule34, Gelbooru, Danbooru, Hentaifoundry, etc are obvious, but what about non-porn-focused sites? Enjoy blocking a good 70% Of the internet, Because almost NOTHING out there lacks pornographic content in some form. Even games like GMod have nude mods for them.
BBC seems to say it's just going to a box to tick/untick when you sign up
I don't fap to porn when I'm in a relationship, but this IS quite dumb. You can't control what people do with the internet.
Guess I'll just have to get laid instead, damn.
^ This. Look at the bright side, guys... :v:
welp nevermind opt in enjoy your porn chaps
welp nevermind opt in enjoy your porn chaps
Will do!
Mothers' Union
Found the problem.
I can't wait for the previous generation of adults to die off, They obviously think they can run the Internet like TV or newspapers.
So what happened to freedom?
So what happened to freedom?
Mr. Cameron happened.
Good VPN - $10.
That's $10 more than I'm willing to pay for Internet porn.
good luck blocking every porn site morons
Oh man, this is going to end badly if 4chan gets blocked...
Oh god oh man oh god oh man oh god oh man oh god oh man oh god oh man oh god!
"Hey dad, can you make it so I can look at porn again please?" Said the 17-year-old living at home. This is stupid, if I want to tug off, why should the Government know about it? If parents were really that worried, they would have bought private filters or something.
brb filling a 10TB harddrive full of porn. It's like stocking up for an a nuclear warfare :v:
better grab every last bit and hope i never have to format.
This is wrong.
The service providers involved are BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin.
Well it's a good thing I'm not on any of these.
Okay I've said previously that as a person from Northern Ireland I felt that it would be best if we stay within the UK because I'm believe we couldn't sustain a unification with Ireland at this point, but I change my mind. IRELAND TAKE US BACK I AM SO SORRY ABOUT ALL THE IRA JOKES.
Thank god for Proxies.

Why is it the governments responsibility to impose controls on morally relative material that they should have nothing to do with? If your parents don't want you to watch porn in their house then they can do something about it, they don't need a governmental father figure imposing it's own agenda on them. Fuck this.
Cameron, please go away, nobody likes you. [editline]11th October 2011[/editline]
Well it's a good thing I'm not on any of these.
Oh fuck you virginmedia.
Cameron, please go away, nobody likes you.
He's not even got the powerful figure of any of the old PM's. Just a pudgy face with a weird nose. At the very least he could have had a mustache, but noooo.

I don't understand why people are still complaining, the first line of the BBC article says: "Four leading web providers are to offer customers the option to block adult content at the point of subscription." and "They said they would talk to parents about how to activate and administer parental controls. The tools to limit what children can see and do online are already available but, before now, have not been offered to customers as they sign up." In other words, it won't be blocked unless you ask for it to be...
