And crumpet.
So one of the companies involved is called Virgin. Wow what a coincidence.
Thanks for taking away one of my basic human rights as a teenage boy!
I don't understand why people are still complaining, the first line of the BBC article says:
"Four leading web providers are to offer customers the option to block adult content at the point of subscription."
and
"They said they would talk to parents about how to activate and administer parental controls. The tools to limit what children can see and do online are already available but, before now, have not been offered to customers as they sign up."
In other words, it won't be blocked unless you ask for it to be...
Thank fucking god... I'm so relieved right now.
Fuck.
Fuck you too BT, glad I'm switching to O2. The government shouldn't know that you want to watch porn. It can be looked upon as quite embaressing.
You should damn well take pride in your porn watching, it is nothing to be embarrassed about
Take to the streets with placards proclaiming your love of <insert porn here>!

They're the same company..
i know who i wont be voting for

Unless you're a Brony. But in that case you're hard wired to your bowling chair anyway.
Inbefore France do it too.
I wouldn't mind this, if it was opt in. Parental control is something I should have the option to turn on, not have to ask to be turned off.
Everyone seems to be forgetting a little thing called a proxy server.
They're the same company..
No they're not, BT sold O2 to Telefónica back in '06

That's not the point, we shouldn't have to use one and wouldn't the porn sites be able to sue the government/ISP's for loss of earnings?

Well there's another thread in which I argued against it. It was also stated that it will be an option FOR parents, instead of being forced upon you.

I shouldn't have to tell people.
And of course nobodies going to protest against an invasion of privacy because porn is such a touchy subject. They could've blocked anything else average that people do in their own time and there would be protests about it, but protesting because our porn was blocked would just be awkward. Dumb/smart move by the government, it's wrong as fuck but they've got people by the balls with this.
is it when you FIRST sign up or is it they tell you to do it
Doesn't seem that my ISP is listed, thank fuck!
(Not that it would matter since I pay for my internet anyway and would opt-in.)

It should be you can opt into being blocked, not having to opt out to being blocked.
now this is a police state, great job cameron i was waiting for that one day where i was absolutely sure i never go back to the country i was born and spent most of my life in.
yes pornography is that important to me...
Looks like magazines will be back in business. :v:
I'm with virgin and they're easily the best UK providers.
You're kidding right? Virgin is total ass. Bring back Blueyonder :(
And in other news, sales of VPS's and VPN's increase by 450%.
If you want to get around this, buy a VPS, SSH in using PuTTy, go to 'Connection' , 'SSH' and then 'Tunnels'. Add Dynamic 8080 to the list. Go into FireFox / Chrome Proxy Switchy settings and add localhost/127.0.0.1 port 8080 as a SOCKS5 proxy.
I recommend FanaticalVPS.
Man, I totally forgot about that putty trick. thank you.
Just uninstalled my PTPP server on my vps.
Trying to stop masturbation is pointless. You dont require porn media to have a wank, people will just use there imagination. Besides, what's so wrong about spanking the salami, it's natural, it's safe, it feels good, and it lowers sexual tension.

Like i said, Statistics state that those deprived of sexual contact/sexual education become emotionally and sexually stunted adults/sexual predators.
Switching from BT to BE in a week
:krad:
Now I won't have to deal with this shit.
The service providers involved are BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin.
fuck off
OMG. No!
Just remembered I can use my VPS to access if need be, so this won't really affect me.
